Representações e práticas dos profissionais da saúde sobre a violência sexual /

Balog, Ana Julieta Parente. January 2019 (has links)
(Resumo completo, clicar acesso eletrônico abaixo) / Abstract: This research aims to contribute to the understanding of social representations on sexual violence elaborated by health professionals. Therefore, we sought to construct the profile of the victims and the offense, based on data provided by the Public Security Secretariat of São Paulo, to compare this information with the representations found and to understand whether these may influence the practice of care or naturalization of violence. Beyond that, interviews were conducted in depth, with a semi-structured script, with the professionals who perform care for the victims in two reference sites in the city of São Carlos. This information was submitted to the analysis using Atlas.ti software and the content analysis technique. From the data collected, it was possible to observe that sexual violence affects the majority of female victims, under 14 years of age, victims of domestic violence. This is also the professionals' understanding of the profile most affected by violence, differing only in the age group most affected, characterizing these individuals as young people. Professionals portray sexual violence as any sexual act practiced against the will of the victim, with different understandings of its causes, while recognizing the consequences as a "major trauma" for the victim. Many professionals say that it is not possible to prevent the problem, others point generally to a "better orientation" as a way to prevent it, among other solutions. It was possible to conclude that ... (Complete abstract click electronic access below) / Mestre

Constitution and maintenance of feminist practice : comparative case study of sexual assault centres in Australia and Korea

Jung, Kyungja, School of Social Science & Policy & the Women's Studies Program, UNSW January 2002 (has links)
Although some research has focused on feminist practice in general, the external and internal dynamics of feminist practice still remains theoretically and empirically under-researched. This study addresses this void in feminist research and places a special focus on the relationship of feminist organisations with the state and within the broader context of the women's movement. This thesis explores the constitution and maintenance of feminist practices in one specific context in South Korea and Australia. Drawing on empirical and historical data derived from the case studies, two questions are explored in this study: What constitutes feminist practices in a feminist organisation? How can feminist practices be sustained?. Two feminist-run Sexual Assault Centres (SACs), one in Korea, one in Australia are studied and analysed, involving 32, in-depth interviews with activists of the two centres, non-participant and participant observation, and document analysis. First, this thesis provides a detailed account of feminist practice and organisational dynamics among feminist organisations, the feminist movement and the state. This thesis confirms that the practices of feminist organisations are seen as dynamic processes constituted by the context in which they are situated, the role of feminist activists and the nature and strength of the broader women's movement. This study, in particular, demonstrates that the relationship of the organisation with the state is a strong determinant in constructing feminist practices. Second, this thesis examines organisational practices at different phases such as the establishment, development and crisis phases. As both centres were experiencing crises, the study illuminates that the crisis in each centre has provided an opportunity for re-examination and reflection on their practices in shifting internal and external contexts. This study also suggests that continuous reflexive attention is necessary to maintain feminist practices. Moreover, the study demonstrates that the role of the activists in constructing and maintaining feminist practices is critical, in particular, in small organisations such as the ASAC and KSAC. This research, the first major study on feminist practices in Korea and Australia, makes a significant contribution to the study of feminist organisations, the state and, in general, feminist theory.

Stoning and hand-amputation : the pre-Islamic origins of the ḥadd penalties for zinā and sariqa

Young, Walter, 1972- January 2005 (has links)
Determining whether stoning for adultery and hand-amputation for theft were practiced in pre-Islamic Arabia represents the first phase in exploring the origins and evolution of these penalties in Islamic law. Should both punishments prove to predate Islam, then it would appear the Qur'an broke with stoning and confirmed amputation of the hand. An extensive survey of pre-Islamic, Near Eastern legal materials in search of parallel penalties has thus been attempted in this thesis. Remarkably, not only stoning and hand-amputation, but nearly the entire range of Islamic adultery and theft legislation have pre-Islamic parallels. The nature of these parallels, however, does not conform to the paradigm of 'borrowing' from 'foreign' sources. Rather, Arab customary law---a major contributor to Islamic law in general---appears to have diverged from an ancient Semitic 'common source' once shared with other Near Eastern cultural entities. Most major elements of Islamic criminal law, including stoning and hand-amputation, therefore represent the culmination of an ancient Semitic common law.
