On the design of masonry shell structures

Torpiano, A. January 1987 (has links)
This thesis investigates the design of masonry shell structures. Design is understood to involve two main processes; the first one is the specification of shape, form, and thickness, and the second is the justification of such choices through the analysis of its behaviour. The thesis is therefore introduced by an extensive literature review of, first of all, the relevant material properties, such as strength, stiffness, anisotropy, and bi-axial stress states, as well as of some interesting construction techniques, based on minimal or no formworkthe premise being that the contemporary adoption, or otherwise, of masonry shells as a feasible structural solution depends on the "economics" of the construction process. The analysis of the strength of masonry arches and shells is reviewed extensively, with considerable emphasis given to the validity of the application of limit analysis to masonry shells, in view of the presence of finite friction. Techniques for the form-finding of shells and for the optimisation of such forms, are then studied, and a finite-element technique developed for the finding of membrane thrust surfaces for shells incapable of carrying tension (as well as having possibly orthotropic properties). The technique is based on the solution of the partial differential equation relating shape, stress and loading, given a specific loading regime, and specific boundary conditions. The stress distribution, satisfying the given boundary and material conditions, is obtained, not on the basis of a trial-and-error approach, as is often the case, but on a plane stress analysis of the horizontal projection of the shell. The resultant shape hence automatically satisfies the boundary conditions. Various examples of the results of such method are given.

Produktutveckling av skalkonstruktion för 3-axiellt styrt maskinstativ / Product development of shell structure for 3-axially driven machine frame

Nordborg, Tobias, Lyrbo, Alexander January 2016 (has links)
This thesis covers the product development of a multi-axial driven machine frame, which at a later stage will be intended to be used in additive manufacturing. The work that has been performed has led to concept development, material selection and manufacturing of a shell construction for a 3-axially driven machine construction. Tests and simulations have been done to verify if the machine design can be used by the specifications set by the host company. The construction was well within its tolerance of 100 microns at room temperature but showed some error margins at the operating temperature of 600 degrees Celsius. The results obtained have been analyzed in order to provide further suggestions for improvement of the structure when there still remain implications in ensuring the tolerances at operating temperature.

Kampus MU Brno (zelená etapa) - stavebně technologický projekt / Campus MU Brno (green stage) - construction technological project

Honzík, Roman January 2015 (has links)
The subject of this thesis is the solution of building technology project for the construction of the main processing stages University Campus Bohunice (green stage). It is a building consisting of nine pavilions which are mutually connected by two corridors. Corridors simultaneously combine green building stage with blue previous stage. All buildings are partial basement and three floors. Exceptions are SO IV-309, which consisted of four storeys with casing of an elliptic cylinder with a flat roof in the middle of the roof sheathing. In my thesis I deal specifically this very building object, which I discussed in terms of time, financial, technological progress bored piles and building equipment. Other portions are designed to project the whole building.

Stavebně technologický projekt minipivovaru Vysočina / Construction Technology project microbrewery Highlands

Horáková, Petra January 2015 (has links)
The aim of thediploma thesis is to make the detailed building-technological project of microbrewery Vysočina. It is concentrated on the principles of building organization what makes construction facility, the calculation of electric power and water supply, calculation of the costs of operating the construction site and its graphic representation for chosen construction phases. I also make the project of the optimal machine composition. After that I compile the budget and costing of the microbrewery, the time and financial plan and the evaluation of main sources. I technologically solve the phase of upper shell construction made of reinforced pre-cast construction for building object of the microbrewery Vysočina. I apply the other ways of assembly of upper shell construction and show their evaluation in terms of price and time construction. I make the inspection and test plan, environmental aspects, the source register of working risk, heat-engineering review of building case and fire safety solutions.

Příprava realizace stavby Biology Park Brno / Preparation for construction management Biology Park Brno

Šťastná, Ludmila January 2016 (has links)
The thesis deals with the preparation of construction works Biology Park Brno . The goal is to determine the time, financial and material demands of the building and determine the appropriate method of construction technology . The work is focused on the main building object SO 01 - Building laboratories and offices , but some parts are addressed to the whole building. It is elaborated construction technology study , which followed closely solved the selected part of building technology project dealing with the given structures. Part of the work is devoted to the design optimization of the amount of formwork , which is necessary for construction.

Příprava realizace polyfunkčního domu v Pardubicích / Realization of a polyfunctional building Pardubice

Výborný, Václav January 2016 (has links)
The main contens of the thesis is solving a construction-technological project substructure and the upper shell construction of a polyfunctional building in Pardubice. Excavation and foundation work are done in section A and B1 and B2. Drilled piles are foundation of a polyfunctional building. Drilled piles are support of reinforced concrete grillage, which are from strips foundation and foundation pads. Cast-in-place concrete frame is a form of load-bearing structure, which contens plate ceilings, pillars and walls. Peripheral masonry is from hellow clay blocks, which are between cast-in-place concrete frame. Diploma thesis includes technical report, plan of building side, schedule and the budget of the building, technological instructions, radon prevent, control and testing plan, safety, balance resources, selected constructional details, machinery composition, bill of quantities.
