This dissertation is in context of two folkloric manifestations of the Christmas cycle in Içara county (SC): terno-de-Reis and boi-de-mamão, in a dialogic perspective between the verbal and non-verbal languages (in this, with emplasis to constituent simbology of rituals) characteristics of this popular manifestations. We have taken as a goal the description of the communicative potential that these manifestations represent in Içara county (SC), selected for the present study throug the plurality of its ethnic constitution: Lusitanian-Azorian,Italian, Polish (the most evident in the county) and also the Indigenous and African2 substract. We proposed to explore the lead the research trough the analyses accomplished under three semiotic viewpoints: (i) the qualitative-iconic, (ii) the singular-indicative and (iii) the conventionalsymbolic, in the try to better describle what the affects are, which translate the symbologies of this fokloric manifestations in the socio-historic-cultural context of Içara. Tomamos como objetivo a descrição do potencial comunicativo que estas manifestações representam no município de Içara (SC), selecionado para o presente estudo pela pluralidade de sua constituição étnica: luso-açoriana, italiana, polonesa (as mais evidentes no município), e também o substrato indígena e o africano1 . Propusemo-nos conduzir a pesquisa através de análises realizadas sob três pontos de vista semióticos: (i) o qualitativo-icônico, (ii) o singular-indicativo e (iii) o convencionalsimbólico, na tentativa de melhor descrevermos quais são os efeitos que traduzem as simbologias destas manifestações folclóricas no contexto sócio-histórico-cultural de Içara. Para tanto, partimos de uma retrospectiva sócio-histórica da constituição e formação destas duas manifestações do ciclo natalino correlacionadas à cultura luso-açoriana, com ênfase à origem do folclore (do sagrado ao profano) que reveste as manifestações desta arte popular.

Os contos foram selecionados para um estudo mais elaborado, por serem contos de bastante expressividade e singularidade referentes aos símbolos e pelos argumentos contidos no livro El Aleph. A pesquisa objetiva encontrar pontos convergentes entre as três narrativas, demonstrado características do realismo fantástico presentes na escrita de Borges, sua importância para a formação dos símbolos borgianos e o papel desses símbolos como unidades de significação dentro do texto. Espera-se, a partir das análises, tentar chegar a uma visão das relações entre o texto, a significação dos símbolos presentes e o contexto geral das narrativas, pela demonstração de como as tramas das três narrativas em questão se interligam, se antecipam e se completam. ______________________________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACT / This study is meant to examine the plots of the tales El Zahir, El Aleph and La escritura del dios, from the book El Aleph, written by the Argentine writer Jorge Luis Borges. The stories were selected for a more elaborate study, due to their expressiveness and uniqueness concerning symbols and arguments in the book El Aleph. The research aims to find convergence between the three narratives, demonstrating characteristics of the magical realism present in Borges’s writing, its importance for the formation of Borgesian symbols and the role of these symbols as meaning units within the text. It is expected, based on the analysis, to reach a view of relations between the text, the meaning of the symbols and the general context of the narrative. Showing thus how the plots of the three narratives in question interconnect, anticipate and complete themselves.

Entre estes eventos, nos detemos mais detalhadamente nesta dissertação sobre a menstruação, cuja experiência permeada por múltiplas influências de ordem social, cultural e econômica, as quais se expressam em aspectos como crenças e valores, fazendo daquela, um momento marcante para pensar sobre a dimensão simbólica que envolve o corpo feminino e suas singularidades. Nesta pesquisa temos como objetivo principal analisar as práticas e discursos referentes à menstruação a partir de um conjunto de mulheres pertencentes a diferentes grupos etários, enxergando o contexto social em que estas mulheres estão inseridas, percebendo como suas falas estão organizadas dentro de uma lógica cultural em que as transformações do corpo feminino são marcadas por sentimentos e emoções resultantes da intersecção entre natureza e cultura. / The interior of the female body has been over time subjected to images and representations that seek to give meaning to events, even if starting inside the woman's body, generate behaviors and behaviors that respond more to a socio-cultural dynamics, than, properly, biological. Among these events, we pause in more detail in this dissertation about menstruation, as an axis to reflect on how the menstrual experience is permeated by multiple influences of social, cultural, economic, to express themselves in what looks like beliefs and values, making this, a remarkable moment to think about the symbolic dimension that involves the female body and its singularities. In this research, our main goal, to analyze the practices and discourses of menstruation in a group of women belonging to different age groups, seeing the social context in which these women are embedded realizing how these lines are organized within a cultural logic in that the transformation of the female body are marked by feelings and emotions that make this experience one variable relevant to discuss the body as a space of intersection between nature and culture.
