Problemlösning och flerspråkiga elever / Problem solving and multilingual studentsJohannesson, Emily, Gerasovska, Claudia January 2023 (has links)
The aim of the study was to explore the unique needs and strengths of multilingual students when learning math and problem-solving and how the teacher should create the education with problem-solving for multilingual students. The result is based on these two questions that were developed in relation with the purpose. This study is based on ten scientific articles chosen from the databases Education Research Complete and ERIC by EBSCO. The result shows that multilingual students should be encouraged to use their different languages as it strengthens their knowledge development. They must also be allowed to work in various ways with problem-solving to develop relevant abilities.Overall, it is crucial for teachers to be aware of the needs of multilingual students and to make appropriate accommodations in order to support their learning and development. Furthermore, the study will show how multilingual students are having some benefits while working with problem-solving such as they are being more creative and adaptable. The conclusion indicates that multilingual students need some support in the work with problem-solving. It is therefore significant that the teacher can accommodate these needs and adjust the problem-solving activities.

Constraint-Driven Open-World Scene GenerationBorlik, Hunter 01 June 2023 (has links) (PDF)
We introduce an alternative method for open-world scene generation. In this thesis, Graph-based Wave Function Collapse (GWFC) is integrated with Space Colonization Algorithm (SCA) and used to place objects in an unstructured 3D environment. This combined algorithm, Space Colonization Graph-based Wave Function Collapse (SC-GWFC), leverages the constraint-based capabilities of GWFC and the ability of SCA to populate arbitrary 3D volumes. We demonstrate that objects of variable scale can be successfully used with SC-GWFC. Since this algorithm is run in an interactive environment, we demonstrate iterative modifications to a partially complete scene and incorporate PCG into a scene editing process. As part of the implementation, we also introduce our Scene Modeling Application for rendering and editing 3D scenes. This modeling application allows for editing and viewing constraints for our SC-GWFC scene generator. We evaluate the performance characteristics of SC-GWFC in the Scene Modeling Application to demonstrate that SC-GWFC can be used interactively. Through the application, users can specify adjacency requirements for objects, and SC-GWFC will attempt to place objects in patterns that respect these rules. We demonstrate the ability to place up to 5000 items on a terrain using our proposed SC-GWFC technique.

How Can Students Use Art to Learn Problem Solving?Su, Fei-Ya 01 March 2020 (has links)
This study explores how art instruction can be used to help students engage with important problems that matter to them and thereby adding personal value within a holistic education experience. Through a two-week-long curriculum composed of eight two-hour classes, the researcher deeply examined the journeys of growth that three students underwent as they were exposed to new art-making techniques and ideas, with an emphasis on the meaning behind individual art creation. The researcher found that all three students showed growth that extended beyond art-making itself to help them develop as independent problem solvers. As an action research study, this study also allowed the researcher to reflect on her own journey as an art teacher and examine how she could improve her teaching methods to facilitate the practical application of art learning into problem solving.
