Delumeau é um historiador francês que tem desenvolvido pesquisas em torno do cristianismo com especial destaque para a questão do medo e o discurso da culpabilização.Oriundo de uma tradição atéia, ele é católico e em seu livro As Razões de minha Fé, expõe suas convicções. O historiador é o brasileiro Armando Souto Maior que no final de sua vida deixou a visão agnóstico, para se tornar espírita, escrevendo o livro: Antes e Depois de Kardec, com isso mudou de campo simbólico, tornando-se religioso e efetuando uma série de ações em torno do espiritismo e a história. A história, o historiador, e o historiador-professor, em sua atividade profissional é enfocado, diante de todo um percurso que vem desde o século XIX e os desafios da história do século XX e toda a construção do século XXI e a perspectiva de um maior aprofundamento com outras disciplinas no estudo, da religião, da relação ciência e religião, a fé e suas implicações na produção do conhecimento científico. A questão da religião e o campo da religião, não ser apenas o campo da religião, o do fenômeno religioso, visto em toda a sua realidade. A ciência e religião, são campos do saber, que em muitos momentos estiveram e conflito, sendo os discursos de ambos observado no contexto da história desde os egípcios e outros povos.
