Development of an Application for Managing Speed Skating Events

Götze, David, Haase, Susanne January 2011 (has links)
This thesis provides insight in the further development of an application for managing speed skating events, based on the previous developed application by a group of students in fall 2010. The application was implemented for the Karlstad Speed Skating Club, which before used a program from the 90's. After finishing the implementation, all basic functionality requested by the Karlstad Speed Skating Club can be used for managing speed skating events. The first part of the thesis presents a short summary of our work, comparing what we wanted to implement and what we achieved. A short background on speed skating, the old system, developed by a group of students, and the project requirements are presented. An introduction to the used tools, languages, techniques and development processes is given along with details concerning the implementation of the requirements. Finally, the design of the new user interface is explained and the results are presented, containing an evaluation of the implementation, occured problems and what could be added in the future.

Rychlobruslařská aréna a postoj veřejnosti k její výstavbě / Speed skating arena and public attitude to its construction

Ruda, Tomáš January 2011 (has links)
Title: Speed Skating arena and public attitude to its construction Objectives: The main aim of the diploma thesis is the analysis of a project of a speed-skating rink in Velky Osek. Citizens from Kolin and Nymburk regions, as well as Prague, have been polled on the possible rink construction. Citizens have been surveyed on their foreknowledge and the future possibility of the of grounds usage. Methods: A descriptive analysis was used to comment on data gathered in relationship to the proposed construction of a speed-skating rink. Furthermore, a SWOT analysis was used in order to evaluate the direct external and internal impact the proposed construction of a speed-skating rink in Velky Osek (Kolin region). A quantitative survey (questionnaire) has been used in polling citizens on their attitude toward the possible construction of the rink. Results: The results have shown the heterogeneity of the attitudes of the citizens. However, we may conclude that there are more people who support the idea ofconstructing a speed-skating rink in the Czech Republic, rather than the proposed construction project in Velky Osek. A Novel and Effective Short Track Speed Skating Tracking System

Wang, Yuxuan 01 May 2012 (has links)
This dissertation proposes a novel and effective system for tracking high-speed skaters. A novel registration method is employed to automatically discover key frames to build the panorama. Then, the homography between a frame and the real world rink can be generated accordingly. Aimed at several challenging tracking problems of short track skating, a novel multiple-objects tracking approach is proposed which includes: Gaussian mixture models (GMMs), evolving templates, constrained dynamical model, fuzzy model, multiple templates initialization, and evolution. The outputs of the system include spatialtemporal trajectories, velocity analysis, and 2D reconstruction animations. The tracking accuracy is about 10 cm (2 pixels). Such information is invaluable for sports experts. Experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness and robustness of the proposed system.

Čiuožimo trumpuoju taku sportinio rengimo metiniu ciklu charakteristika / The charakteristics of sportive preparation in Short Track Speed Skating

Vilčinskaitė, Virginija 15 June 2006 (has links)
Spread of popularity of short track speed skating in the world and in Lithuania, rapid rise of mastery and increasing concurrence and competition among sportsmen encourage a study of scientifically based technologies of preparation for the short track speed skating. The paper overviews the characteristics of the development of structure in short track speed skating long-term trainings together with methods of training, physical and functional development. The aim of the paper: to find out the peculiarities of short track speed skating sportive training i.e. preparation in Lithuania. People under investigation were the members of the national short track speed skating team of Lithuania – S.K., P.G. and A.S. Sportive achievements and the analysis of training strain of the skaters were observed. Laboratory research has been done in the laboratory at the main meso-cycle of special preparation in Vilnius Pedagogical University. It was the first time that the skater S.K. has taken part in the research that has been done in Lithuania. Examination of sportsmen’s physical development and sportive readiness was accomplished in general and the special meso-cycles of preparation. The results of the research correspond to the norms that are set to the sportsmen. A programme for a year’s period of sportive preparation to Lithuanian short track speed skating team was structured.
