In-Plane Cyclic Shear Performance of Interlocking Compressed Earth Block WallsBland, David William 01 June 2011 (has links)
This thesis presents results from testing of interlocking compressed earth block (CEB) masonry shear walls. CEBs are low strength earth masonry units sometimes stabilized with cement or lime. The interlocking compressed earth blocks (ICEBs) used in this experiment are dry stacked interlocking hollow units, which can be reinforced and grouted after they are laid. Although significant research has been undertaken to optimize the material properties of CEBs, little has been done to investigate the performance of structural systems currently being built using this technology.
Test results are reported for three 1800 mm x 1800 mm wall specimens constructed with cement stabilized ICEBs and subjected to cyclic in-plane lateral loading. Wall specifications were varied to identify the shear performance of partial and fully grouted walls, and to observe the performance of a flexure dominated wall panel. It was determined that the shear strength of fully grouted walls is significantly higher than that of partially grouted walls and calculation of capacity based on current ACI 530-08 masonry provisions significantly overestimates the shear strength of ICEB wall panels. Based on the observed performance, recommendations are made for limiting the calculated nominal shear strength in design. Results also indicate that calculations based on simple bending theory conservatively predict the flexural strength of a fully grouted ICEB wall. Discussion of ICEB material properties and recommendations for design and construction procedures are included.

Použití GPRS modulu pro přenos JPG souborů v reálném čase / Application of GPRS module for real-time transmission of JPG filesRusinský, Jan January 2010 (has links)
This document describes a design procedure of interface between VGA camera and GSM/GPRS modem for displaying JPEG pictures captured by camera on website. Interface is realized by eight-bit micricontroller ATMEL with application written in C language. For picture transfer to server a TCP/IP stack is implemented into modem. The document is divided into two main parts. The first part describes architecture of the system, used components (camera, modem, microcontroller) and electronic circuit design. The second part of the document is focused on the software for the system. Firstly operating system of modem is desribed, OpenAT development environment for modem application design and WIPsoft library, which is used to implement TCP/IP stack. Next is described application for microcontroller which controlls camera and modem. Last part of this document describes server application and web interface.

Rozšíření generického ladicího nástroje v projektu Lissom / Extension of Generic Debugger of the Lissom ProjectHons, Petr January 2014 (has links)
This thesis deals with an introduction to debugging and debuggers. The thesis describes principles of the debugging information, especially the DWARF format and its Call Frame Information (CFI), that enables a debugger to visualize the call stack. Furthermore, extensions of the debugger used in the Lissom project were designed and implemented. These extensions added support for call stack visualization, history value storage and step return and step over commands.

Development of a bipolar nickel-iron battery prototype for energy storageLtaief, Mohamed Ali Ben January 2021 (has links)
Philosophiae Doctor - PhD / Energy storage systems represent a viable option to integrate renewable energy sources into the grid network. Multiple energy storage technologies are available such as mechanical, electrical, thermal, and electrochemical storage technologies. Battery Energy Storage Systems are considered as an accepted solution for energy storage with advantages such as, sustained power delivery, geographical independence and, fast response capability.
This thesis describes the development of rechargeable bipolar Nickel-Iron batteries as potential candidates for cost effective energy storage solutions. The first objective of this work was to design a bipolar electrode comprising an Iron (Fe)-based anode, a Nickel (Ni)-based cathode and a flexible bipolar plate and to optimise its production process in order to attain high performance in terms of capacity and efficiency. Research questions to be answered included;

Analysis of Diameter Log Files with Elastic Stack / Analysering av Diameter log filer med hjälp av Elastic StackOlars, Sebastian January 2020 (has links)
There is a growing need for more efficient tools and services for log analysis. A need that comes from the ever-growing use of digital services and applications, each one generating thousands of lines of log event message for the sake of auditing and troubleshooting. This thesis was initiated on behalf of one of the departments of the IT consulting company TietoEvry in Karlstad. The purpose of this thesis project was to investigate whether the log analysis service Elastic Stack would be a suitable solution for TietoEvry’s need for a more efficient method of log event analysis. As part of this investigation, a small-scale deployment of Elastic Stack was created, used as proof of concept. The investigation showed that Elastic Stack would be a suitable tool for the monitoring and analysis needs of TietoEvry. The final version of deployment was, however, not able to fulfill all of the requirements that were initially set out by TietoEvry, however, this was mainly due to a lack of time and rather than limitations of Elastic Stack.

Linear Optical Thin Films Formed by Electrostatic Self-AssemblyLuo, Zhaoju 16 June 2000 (has links)
The Electrostatic Self-Assembly (ESA) technique possesses great advantages over traditional thin film fabrication methods, making it an excellent choice for a number of applications in the fields of linear and nonlinear optics, electronics, sensing and surface coatings. The feasibility of fabricating linear optical interference filters by ESA methods is demonstrated in this thesis work. Basic single-anion/single-cation ESA films are synthesized and their optical parameters -- refractive index and average thickness for individual bilayer -- are investigated to provide a basis for the in-depth design of optical filters. High performance dielectric stack filters and narrowband and wideband antireflection coatings are designed using TFCalc simulation software and are fabricated by ESA. Both bulk film sensitivity and layer sensitivity to manufacturing errors are provided. The significant agreement between simulation and experiment demonstrates the strong capability of ESA to precisely control the refractive index and produce excellent thin film filters. The performance of optical thin film filters is largely enhanced compared to the results of previous methods. The experiment results indicate that the ESA process may be used to fabricate optical filters and other optical structures that require precise index profile control. / Master of Science
