Study on Steel-plant Manufacturing Execution System

Horng, Minn-horng 10 June 2008 (has links)
A typical steel plant includes iron-making, steel-making and rolling mills from the upstream to the downstream. The rolling mill can be extended and segmented as hot strip mill and cold strip mill in a large scale steel plant. A steel plant contains lots of automation control systems and process information systems to pursuit process efficiency and production optimization. The control systems and information systems are segmented based on physical model in ANSI/ISA-88 standard, and ranged up the enterprise-wide and down to each process. It is impossible to construct only a stand-alone Manufacturing Execution System (MES) to cope with the very complicated Computer Integrated Manufacturing (CIM) environment. An adequate MES should interface information systems in the plant seamlessly, and eliminate the duplicated pattern functions which exist elsewhere. To build up an MES model for a steel plant, it is essential to gather all MES-related structure elements in the information systems as the first step, and conceive additional MES¡¦ structure elements as the second step. The first step makes our approach different from the traditional stand-alone MES system development methodology. In this thesis, the MES is decomposed from the view points of ¡¥Structure View¡¦ and ¡¥Behavior View¡¦ to obtain Structure Elements and Behaviors. The MES can be fully described based on Structure Elements and Behaviors. Our modeling approach defines a ¡¥Steel Plant MES Architecture Description Language¡¦ in the beginning, and fabricates a ¡¥Steel Plant MES Reference Model¡¦ then. ¡¥Steel Plant MES Reference Model¡¦ includes a set of Architecture Hierarchy Diagram, Structure Element Diagram, Structure Element Service Diagram, Structure Element Link Diagram, Structure Behavior Coalescence Diagram, and Sequence Diagram. This reference model has been introduced to set up a companywide integrated MES in a brand new steel plant to validate the model.

Study of a Distribution ERP Architect Model

Kang, Jong-Luen 06 June 2007 (has links)
With the significant progress of information system, information technique has been the essential surviving key to a business. Enterprise adopts various information systems so as to be able to aware of the ever-changing environments coming from either internally or externally and still maintain stable and reliable management mechanism. Enterprise Resources Planning (ERP) has been widely applied to the integration of companies¡¦ internal processing systems. Nevertheless, focusing too much on either structure view, or process view, or isolated structure-process views always hinds the success of implementing an ERP within a company. Consequently, to be classified as a blue ocean enterprise, this research urges companies describe ERP with Distribution ERP Architecture Model (DERPAM), hence structure-process-integration constructing distribution ERP systems. In such case, combination of 80% distribution ERP and 20% core competence of each unique company becomes highly achievable. Outstandingly, DERPAM helps companies derive an optimized distribution ERP.

Study on Architecture-Oriented Electric Arc Furnace Manufacturing System Model

Huang, Bo-ham 25 June 2009 (has links)
The electric arc furnace steelmakers produce steel across wide ranging sizes and different quality levels. The method of using electric arc for melting is an important process to produce steel from iron or scraps. The diversity of products and markets makes the steelmakers to operate within a large number of constraints of limited enterprise resources, so the electric arc furnace manufacturing system faces problems to integrate the enterprise resource planning system with the manufacturing execution system. The international automation society has come out a solution with an international standard, also known as ISA-95 aimed to help manufacturing industries such as electric arc furnace steelmakers, for the integration of enterprises and control systems. However, ISA-95 only emphasizes on the integration of enterprises and control systems, but does not provide a whole picture of the entire system. This research utilizes the tool of system architecture to develop the architecture-oriented electric arc furnace manufacturing system model, abbreviated as AOEAFMSM, to illustrate coherently the structure view and the behavior view of the electric arc furnace manufacturing system. Furthermore, AOEAFFMSM is able to fully describe many other views of the electric arc furnace manufacturing system. This capability satisfies everybody¡¦s need for capturing different views of the system. Consequentially, AOEAFFMSM simplifies the software development and reduces many communication difficulties among system developers and customers. In modeling the electric arc furnace manufacturing system model, AOEAFFMSM is superior to ISA-95.

Study on Service-Oriented Cable TV Customer Business Management Model

Chen, Ming-yuan 28 January 2010 (has links)
The current international standard ISO quality management practices and process-oriented methods widely used in various internal management and supervision, but businesses in dealing with the rapidly changing external environment, information technology can bring knowledge and complexity, as well as the effective use of corporate resources can be fully and so forth, these important issues can not be resolved through the above methods. The proverb says: You can manage what can not measure. The proverb also says: You can not measure what you can not describe. Therefore, enterprises need a clear and concise method for describing their overall business operations. It is even better that this method owns the flexibility to flexible and easy to learn and other features, so as to ensure sustainable development of the business. This study investigated Service-Oriented Cable TV Customer Business Management Model (SOCTCBMM). SOCTCBMM most salient feature is a service (structure elements) to guide a behavior, resulting in structure-behavior coalescence (SBC) of effect. In other words, Service-Oriented Cable TV Customer Business Management Model uses structure view as an entry point, so the basic unit of SOCTCBMM is a service, differing from process-oriented methods which use behavior view as an entry point. This research concluded that: the SBC service-oriented approach clearly and concisely describes the overall business operations, and therefore it is the enterprise the best options, it is not an exaggeration.
