An analysis of the Topeka Kansas downtown district to determine a process of rejuvenation

Munz-Pritchard, Christine Patricia January 1900 (has links)
Master of Regional and Community Planning / Department of Architecture and Regional and Community Planning / John W. Keller / This report is a reconnaissance analysis of the Topeka, Kansas downtown district to determine a process of rejuvenation. Many office buildings are established in or near the downtown core, and bring an estimated 30,000 employees to the area; however, after 5:00 PM much of the work force leaves the downtown making it difficult for retail and entertainment businesses to stay open. The purpose of this study is to analyze the downtown district of Topeka in terms of its strengths and weaknesses, and determine the steps that must be taken before a process of rejuvenation can occur. To accomplish this, the study examines strategic data such as a workforce profile, location information, public facilities, historical and current demographics of the city, along with specific information on the downtown area such as past and present plans for renovation. This analysis also includes current plans in the downtown and how they might impact the future physical development of the central core of downtown Topeka such as the potential realignment of Interstate 70. The key to making any downtown project a success is to acknowledge the weaknesses and threats of the area and to recast them as potential opportunities and strengths for the area. This is why the study has a building survey and a S.W.O.T. (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Strengths) analysis.

Ahp-enhanced swot matrix teaching strategy

Chipoco Quevedo, Mario 12 1900 (has links)
The SWOT matrix is the quintessential analysis tool for business purposes, and is taught both in undergraduate and postgraduate courses. However, it is widely understood that the selection of the critical success factors (CSFs) that are included for analysis in the matrix is a very subjective and unstructured process, leaving room for bias and arbitrariness. One way to give a better foundation and support to the analysis results is by utilizing Analytic Hierarchical Process (AHP) in order to weigh the importance of CSFs in the SWOT matrix and increase reliability of the output. This paper contains the design of a strategy to teach this topic in a marketing planning course, with the addition of a useful technique to overcome the limitations of the tool.

Marketing analysis for future strategic plan

Mousarezaei, Mahsa January 2016 (has links)
Today’s climate issues such as increasing temperatures and extreme change in weather pattern are one of the greatest threats. Therefore there is a united agreement that something needs to be done for reducing the causes of global warming and climate change. Businesses have accepted the fact that they need to take some actions so that they can help, although still some think that environmental solutions are time consuming and costly. (Shah, 2015) Realizing the climate issues and the fact that greenhouse gases remain in the atmosphere for a long time, Sweden started an environmental protection agency in 1967. Since then Sweden has a strong reputation as one of leaders and environmental pioneer worldwide. The government provides various opportunities for environmentally friendly technologies developments within the country and abroad. (Sweden.se, 2016) The case company is one of high technology Swedish companies that are trying to provide air treatment solutions for industries. They mostly work within food frying factories, waste handling and biogas industries. Their solution is highly beneficial technologically as it reduce industrial pollution as well as transferring the heat and purified water from the recovery process back to the system. Consequently they help companies to save costs through low energy consumption and to be environmentally friendly. However, due to economical globalization and other competitors, especially in Sweden, their high technology is not a guarantee for financial and competitive advantages. Marketing strategy and strategic marketing plan is the necessity for their success in the market within Sweden and internationally. This paper is the fundamental base in strategic planning of marketing by analyzing the current situation of company in the market through SWOT (Strength, Weakness, Opportunity, Threat) analysis. Through SWOT analysis I have highlighted the strength points which the case company needs to focus on when introducing their product to customers and compete with the competitors. On the other hand the weaknesses were also analyzed and I have came up with a few suggestions that might help in this case in order to take advantage from their opportunities to improve weaknesses. The result of SWOT analysis clear that their products have a great opportunity in the market due to the high technology they have and they need to have better marketing strategy to introduce their technology and capability to the market.
