Integrando sistemas de auxílio ao diagnóstico no sistema gerenciador de imagens médicas / Integrating computer-aided diagnosis systems into the picture archiving and communication system

Samuel Covas Salomão 07 June 2010 (has links)
The technology evolution seen in the last years provided large adoption of digital image acquisition equipments, such as: X-rays, computed tomography, magnetic resonance and ultrasound. The use of these devices in daily hospital routine generates an expressive image data volume which demands intelligent solutions for image storage, distribution and visualization. Such role is played by picture archiving and communication systems - PACS - which make extensively use of the DICOM protocol, world industry standard for image transmission and codification in medicine. Due to its digital nature, recently several medical image processing applications were developed and some programs used to process mammography and chest computed tomography images became commercial products in the last five years. These applications are usually known as CAD or computer-aided diagnosis. It\'s known that CAD solutions may improve the diagnosis efficiency and accuracy by detecting and/or classifying automatically abnormalities and/or diseases in radiologic exams. However, little effort was done in the sense of integrating the CAD tools and picture archiving and communication systems. To really assist radiologist diagnosis CAD needs to process digital images that are usually stored in the PACS server. Nowadays, specialist image processing programs like CAD still remains being used on an isolated workstation and the processing results are not integrated in a suitable fashion to other information systems such as HIS (Hospital Information System), RIS (Radiology Information System) and PACS. The work described in this dissertation presents a CAD-PACS integration solution based on free and open source programming libraries. It\'s hoped that this solution may contribute in an effective manner to increase the productivity and improve the radiology workflow, bringing benefits to the whole hospital environment.

Process Modeling and Execution in Non-Enterprise System Integration

Fang, Miao January 2012 (has links)
Context. Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) are information systems that manage manufacturing processes in factories. The execution of MES processes requires non-enterprise integration, which integrates MES applications, services, and automation systems within the factories. Objectives. We aim at developing a modeling approach that can be used to represent and execute MES processes. Having such an approach would help MES vendors to reduce the development cost to reconfigure systems, in order to achieve better business flexibility. Methods. In order to understand the state of the art of manufacturing modeling techniques, we perform a systematic literature review (SLR) in scientific article sources, including IEEE Xplore, ACM Digital Library, Compendex, Inspec, and Springer Link. In consideration of the criteria in modeling and executing MES processes, we evaluate the selected process modeling techniques. Based on the result of evaluation, we propose a three-view-based approach to support process execution. We develop a prototype to prove that an MES process can be executed by following our approach. We also conduct semi-structured interviews in industry to validate whether our proposed approach achieves the objectives. Results. In the SLR, 24 primary studies are selected. Our analysis reveals that existing modeling techniques have limitations to enable process execution. To overcome the limitation, we propose a three-view-based approach, which has an MES process view, an abstract plant view to represent the structure of technical systems, and a mapping view to enable the communication between MES tasks and the technical systems. We develop a prototype as the implementation of our approach, which comprises: a graphical editor for the abstract plant view, a generator of message routes for the mapping view, and a typical MES process to be executed in the context of a warehouse management system. The semi-structured interviews we conducted with three industrial experts show positive feedback to use and generalize our approach in industry, in case comprehensive tools can be established. Conclusions. Compared to the existing modeling techniques, the three-view-based approach is specifically tailored toward process execution. Based on the feedback from industry, we conclude that applying our approach provides the possibility to achieve better reconfigurability and flexibility of MES.

Inter-organisational Application Integration : Developing Guidelines Using Multi Grounded Theory

Skild, Fredrik, Thai, Men, Älverdal, Johan January 2005 (has links)
Background: Information technology (IT) has drastically changed the traditional way to do business. In theory, coordinating information sharing among organisational partners offers notable advantages through cost savings, productivity, improved decision making, and better customer service. Supported by modern information technology, business processes can change and be developed into new more effective forms, both internally and externally. However, as IT facilitates new business opportunities, it requires a steady flow of information and information exchange, both within intra- and inter-organisational contexts where a consensus on terms and definitions coordinating the uniform communication is vital. Purpose: With the focal point on inter-organisational information exchange, the purpose of the thesis is to define a set of guidelines for AI that can be used and adjusted according to the needs of a specific situation or context. Method: The thesis was carried out with a Multi Grounded Theory approach. Interviews were conducted at a local IT-company and with an associate professor of Informatics at Jönköping International Business School. Results: Five categories were discovered which impact AI: integration governance, project management, context, integration content, and testing. The result also implied the importance to distinguish between an operational and strategic level when working with Application Integration.

Usage of third party components in Heterogeneous systems : An empirical study

Raavi, Jaya Krishna January 2016 (has links)
Context: The development of complex systems of systems leads to high development cost, uncontrollable software quality and low productivity. Thus Component-based software development was used to improve development effort and cost of the software. Heterogeneous systems are the system of systems that consist of functionally independent sub-systems with at least one sub-system exhibiting heterogeneity with respect to other systems. The context of this study is to investigate the usage of third party components in heterogeneous systems. Objectives. In this study an attempt was made to investigate the usage of third party components in heterogeneous systems in order to accomplish the following objectives: Identify different types of third party components. Identify challenges faced while integrating third-party components in heterogeneous systems. Investigate the difference in test design of various third party components Identify what the practitioners learn from various third party components Methods: We have conducted a systematic literature review by following Systematic literature review guidelines by Kitchenham to identify third party components used, challenges faced while integrating third-party components and test design techniques. Qualitative interviews were conducted in order to complement, supplement the finding from the SLR and further provide guidelines to the practitioners using third party components. The studies obtained from the SLR were analyzed in relation to the quality criteria using narrative analysis. The data obtained from interview results were analyzed using thematic analysis. Results: 31 primary studies were obtained from the systematic literature review (SLR). 3 types of third components, 12 challenges, 6 test design techniques were identified from SLR. From the analysis of interviews, it was observed that a total of 21 challenges were identified which complemented the SLR results. In addition, from interview test design techniques used for testing of heterogeneous systems having third party components were investigated. Interviews have also provided 10 Recommendations for the practitioners using different types of third party components in the product development. Conclusions: To conclude, commercial of the shelf systems (COTS and Open software systems (OSS) were the third party components mainly used in heterogeneous systems rather than in-house software from the interview and SLR results. 21 challenges were identified from SLR and interview results. The test design for testing of heterogeneous systems having different third party components vary, Due to the non-availability of source code, dependencies of the subsystems and competence of the component. From the analysis of obtained results, the author has also proposed guidelines to the practitioners based on the type of third party components used for product development. /
All the information provided are correct as per my knowledge.

Integration of an ERP System: : a case study onintegration challenges with Microsoft Dynamics AX

Xu, Annie January 2017 (has links)
Historically, system integration of ERP system and other existing IT systems within anorganization has always been a complex challenge, both technically and organizationally. Inmany cases, the budget for system integration corresponds 30-40% of the whole IT budget.Since system integration accounts for a large part of the cost during acquisitions andimplementation of an ERP system, companies are interested in the challenges that exist duringsystem integration, to simplify the integration process and hence reduce the costs. Tounderstand the challenges, a case study at Company X has been performed. The ERP systeminvestigated in the case study is Microsoft Dynamics AX.The purpose with this study is to investigate challenges that exist in large organizations duringsystem integration of ERP system and other IT systems that exist in the organization andthereby understand how integration can be developed in a more efficient way.The study entails an extensive literature study and two rounds of data collection throughqualitative interviews. The results showed that the challenges that exist at Company X are mainly organizational.Technical challenges coexist but they have a much less significant impact than theorganizational challenges. This can be explained by that there has been a heavier focus onsolving the technical related problems and maybe to some extent neglected the impactorganizational problems can have on system integration. Possible actions includes centralstrategy concerning how to work with Dynamics AX, it’s growth and future initiatives, policies and framework regarding working methods, increased authority and decision rights tothe group working with AX as well as minimize customizations and own development.

The Organization and Integration of the I/O CPU in the ANPT Project

Brett, Michael Edward 11 1900 (has links)
The ANPT (Air Navigation Procedures Trainer) is a navigation simulator being developed by Litton Systems (Canada) Limited. The ANPT design is based on the use of two ECLIPSE S/200 minicomputers to supply the background monitoring necessary for the system. This reports deals with the implementation of the software for the processor that will control the navigation simulation hardware of the ANPT. Two major sections of the implementation are covered: the organization phase which details the modules needed to control the hardware and to communicate with the other processor, and the integration phase in which the various modules are linked together with each other and with the hardware in order to obtain a cycling system. The problems that could be encountered during system integration will be discussed along with possible solutions to these problems. / Thesis / Master of Engineering (ME)
