<p> It is proposed to design, develop and implement a data base system to support the requirement of the Technical Computing Services department of McMaster University with respect to their responsibilities for the control and servicing of units of computing equipment at McMaster University.</p> <p> This data base contains information concerning each unit of equipment, its manufacturer, custodian, model number, serial number, purchase or lease record, maintenance record, past and present locations and service record.</p> <p> This project determines various cross-sections of this information to be retrieved. This includes the development of software to create, maintain, update the data base and to produce necessary reports. Com o intuito de mudar a situação em que se encontra a manutenção na UFRGS, de defasagem e dificuldades de ordens diversas, é elaborada uma proposta de construção de uma política de manutenção para a Instituição, a partir da qual, apresenta-se um plano de desenvolvimento e implantação de um Sistema de Planejamento e Controle da Manutenção Informatizado, criando as condições necessárias à Gestão da Manutenção. Neste contexto, no presente trabalho, realiza-se uma revisão bibliográfica sobre o tema, um estudo da manutenção no Brasil e a concepção de um Sistema de Planejamento e Controle da Manutenção na Instituição, iniciado com um diagnóstico dos problemas operacionais encontrados. As questões consideradas mais críticas detectadas foram: inexistência de recursos humanos capacitados e de uma estrutura de gestão definida, infra-estrutura inadequada para o desenvolvimento das tarefas, falta de uma política de manutenção e de investimentos nas instalações, equipamentos e treinamento. Constatação de falta de documentação e histórico dos serviços realizados e de ferramentas ou software de planejamento e controle da manutenção, resistência passiva dos trabalhadores a mudanças, necessidade de alterações nas rotinas das atividades e demora no atendimento das solicitações. As medidas corretivas adotadas para a solução dos problemas identificados foram implantadas no período de dois anos e continuam com novas etapas ainda por executar numa estimativa de quatro anos para sua consolidação. Os principais resultados obtidos, até o momento, foram a definição e implantação da política de Manutenção – “Manutenção Criativa”, aumento da capacidade e a melhora na qualidade de atendimento das solicitações de serviços suportado por um sistema informatizado, um controle mais eficaz dos serviços e das informações da manutenção e o seu acompanhamento em tempo real, o início do gerenciamento da manutenção pelas ferramentas disponibilizadas. Também se constata uma mudança no comportamento dos trabalhadores passando a uma conduta mais participativa e com menor resistência às mudanças. / With the intention of changing the actual maintenance at UFRGS – one of discrepancy and difficulties of several orders, a proposal for constructing a maintenance politics is elaborated for the Institution, starting from which derives a plan for the development and implantation of a Computerized Planning and Controlling Maintenance System, creating the necessary conditions to the Maintenance Management. In this context, in the present work, take place a bibliographical revision on the theme, a study of the maintenance in Brazil and the conception of the institution’s Maintenance Planning and Controlling System, started with a diagnosis of the found operational problems. The most critic issues detected were: the absence of qualified human resources and of a defined structure management, an inadequate infrastructure for development of the tasks, lacks of a maintenance politics and of investments in the facilities, equipments and training. Verification of documentation lack and historical of the accomplished services and absence of tools or soft wares of Planning and Controlling Maintenance, passive resistance of the workers to changes, need of alterations in the routines of the activities and delay in the service of the requests. The corrective actions adopted for the solution of the identified problems were implanted in the period of two years and continue with new stages still for executing in a four year-old estimate for its consolidation. The main obtained results, until the moment, they were the definition and implantation of the politics of Maintenance-“Creative Maintenance”, an increase of the capacity and the improvement in the quality of service of the requests of services supported by a computerized system, a more effective control of the services and the information of the maintenance its availability in real time, the beginning of the maintenance management for the made available tools. Also a change is verified in the workers' behavior passing to a conduct more participative and with smaller resistance to the changes.

Having well-trained operators is a crucial need for Volvo Group Truck Operations (GTO). Mistakes from the factory staff may cause the production line to stop, and lead to economic losses. For this reason, Volvo GTO has decided to investigate the possibility of creating an emulation model from the production line and using it to train operators and maintenance personnel. The aim of this thesis is to develop an Operator Training Station (OTS) for the OP035 of the Volvo GTO Production Line 6. In the first part, a literature research was conducted, from which the authors gained insight into related fields such as emulation, virtual environments, and operator training. After that, an emulation model of theOP035 was created using some hardware from the factory. The real PLC program was analyzed and then modified in order to implement it to the emulation model. Then, communications were established between the different parts; emulation model and PLC program. Finally, a research of the common failures and problems of the production line was carried out, with the aim of being able to reproduce them in the Operator Training Station. Once the OTS was implemented, several tests had undergone to validate its behavior. These experiments verified that the emulation model was an accurate representation of the real system and validated its appropriateness for the operator training application

This thesis focuses on issue of tangible fixed assets management in the company DT – Vyhybkarna a strojirna a.s. in the Prostejov city. This company produces, installs and restores turnout trackwork for railways, trams and underground tracks. The first part of this thesis analyses current situation of tangible assets and its handling, based on the evaluation of the maintenance department. Afterwards it defines weak parts and reveals shortages, on which an improvement suggestions for optimalizing and melioration of that state is made. At the end of this thesis is made an economic evaluation of the suggestions and expected changes in case of the implementation.

Photovoltaic in the Czech Republic has gone through significant development during last few years. The thesis describes physical principle of converting solar energy into electrical energy using photovoltaic cells. Photovoltaic power plant is a set of technologic components connected together to utilize solar energy and convert it into electric energy that could be distributed to electric power network. Review of the photovoltaic development in the Czech Republic and the list of the biggest operational photovoltaic power plants present important data for assessment of the current status of photovoltaic technology in the Czech Republic. Chapter operations and maintenance of photovoltaic power plants summarizes the most common causes of failures and presents diagnostic tools for service requests. Due to legislative changes, hybrid photovoltaic power plants construction has been prioritized as it is economically more efficient now. Construction of new hybrid photovoltaic power plant was assessed analytically using SWOT analysis that evaluates strong and weak sides of the projects in comparison with opportunities and threats of construction. After evaluation of obtained data the next steps of the hybrid photovoltaic power plant’s construction plan are proposed. The first part of hybrid photovoltaic power plant design contains PVGIS program's data evaluation, which provides sunlight intensity information for specified area. Obtained data were used in the second part of the design to determine proper components selection for family house hybrid photovoltaic power plant. Finally the economic view of the design and return of investments were assessed.
