Modellbaserad prediktiv reglering av en dieselmotor med variabel geometriturbin och återcirkulering av avgaser / Model Predictive Control of a Diesel Engine with Variable Geometry Turbine and Exhaust Gas Recirculation

Wahlström, Johan January 2003 (has links)
Control of a diesel engine equipped with Variable Geometry Turbine (VGT) and Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) requires a multivariable control method. One problem is that the engine system is non-linear. Furthermore there are strong cross-connections between inputs and outputs and the inputs have alsoboundaries. To be able to manage these control problems, MPC has been used that is a multivariable method. The MPC-controller consists of an optimization problem and therefore MPC can find the optimum control signals in an easy way. Furthermore the boundaries of the control signals can be handled with by-conditions in the optimization. The disadvantage with MPC is that it requires a lot of amount of calculations and memory, which are important factors when a control system should be implemented. Therefore it has been chosen to compare MPC with PID, that is a common and simpler method. The results from this thesis are that MPC is a method that gives more optimal and faster control. Furthermore MPC can handle different control cases much better, without changing the settings. On the other hand PID requires considerable fewer amounts of calculations and memory. In one case that has been examined, MPC requires 40 times more amounts of calculations than PID. To be able to control a non-linear system, both MPC and PID must be implemented in several different working points. Furthermore decoupling must be used in the PID-controller to be able to manage cross-connections that seems to be a very important problem.

The Taiwan Agricultural Biotechnology Competitive Advantage Analysis of a case study

Wang, Chih-Yuan 27 June 2007 (has links)
Abstract The biotechnology development in Taiwan has been doubted by a lot of people. Most people think it needs big amount investment, long-term research process and more manpower to enter this market. However, is this the only answer whether we can develop biotechnology in Taiwan or not. Developed biotechnology in Taiwan, the technology must be the soul, capital must be the blood and the law must be the structure to make the frame body work. Taiwan environment has his own suitable industry development, except the environment change otherwise it is impossible to develop the European and American style technology. The most pessimistic development of biotechnology in Taiwan in the past was too optimistic to expect the market. The more expectation, the more disappointment. Our government should take action and financial to improve the environment. Our agriculture researchers are blossom, from middle-reaches ¡V The world Vegetable Center, Agricultural Research & extension Station, until the lower reaches - farmers who equip with the first class agriculture technology. Because Taiwan is populous, it guides the livestock industry to be delicate and it accumulates a bunch of breed knowledge. Besides Taiwan has the third aqua farm in the world and it based on the subtropical zone that has the advantage of warn fish producing. All above are the advantage of developing biotechnology of Taiwan. Livestock technology uses reproduce technology, gene technology, ferment technology and biotechnology to proceed the reserve of type, modification of livestock, biotechnology pharmacy development, the To review the result of Taiwan Agriculture technology, Taiwan absolutely has it competition advantage at the international Agriculture technology field. Moreover, the appliance of biotechnology not only helps our economic development, but also upgrades our life quality. And it can solve the problem of pesticides remaining on the food and pollution in order to increase our healthy. Agriculture technology will be a star industry in Taiwan in the near future and it will make the agriculture to be perpetual development in Taiwan.

A Study of Commercializing Nanotechnology in the Traditional Industry in Taiwan

Tsou, Hsin-I 19 June 2003 (has links)
Compared to China and southeast Asian countries, corporations of traditional industry in Taiwan are more and more uncompetitive in terms of cost of human and manufacture. The application of nanotechnology is an opportunity that can adds product value and upgrade industry in the traditional industry in Taiwan. Traditional industry corporations face stable environment and long technology life and manufacture mainly, so they have less need for new technology and are lacking in experience of commercializing technology. The appearance of nanotechnology will affect Taiwan traditional industry¡¦s competitive advantage and make it without other choice but to face the emerging technology. Corporations must combine nanotechnology with its domain technology. Because it is different from the general process of commercializing technology adapted to the used technology, traditional industry corporations¡¦ processing the technology commercialization will face different problems and need different help. The methodology of this research includes case study, secondary data collection approaches, and interviews of corporate managers and related experts. Then we integrate the three parts of the process of technology commercialization, the plan of National Science and Technology Program for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology for traditional industry, and Industrial Technology Research Institute¡¦s (ITRI) guidance and promotion project into the model of nanotechnology commercialization of traditional industry in Taiwan. In this research, we find that government must actively facilitate nano-industry cluster, process nano-fundamental research and train people of talent to build a complete nano-industry environment. In the early stage of technology commercialization, the key point is how to bring in nanotechnology. The traditional industry corporations must cooperate with the modifiers and connectors, process technology transfer and then combine nanotechnology and their domain technology together. Finally, they could introduce their new products to the market.

Förbättring av upplösningen i Landsat 7-bilder med hjälp av bildfusion / Improving the spatial resolution of Landsat 7 images by means of image fusion

Molin, Sara January 2002 (has links)

The purpose of this master's thesis is to evaluate whether it is feasible to use the panchromatic band of Landsat 7 in order to improve the spatial resolution of colour images. The images are to be used as texture in visual databases for flight simulators and for this reason it is important that the fusion preserves natural colours.

A number of methods for fusing panchromatic and multispectral images are discussed. Four of them are implemented and evaluated. The result is that standard methods such as HSI substitution are not suitable for this purpose since they do not preserve natural colours. However, if only high frequencies of the panchromatic image are used the resolution can be improved without noticeable colour distortion.
