(March to the West), during Estado Novo, influenced the creation of the Federal Territory of Ponta Por? (1943-1946). For this purpose, at first, we will demonstrate how the creation of the Federal Territory of Ponta Por? was inserted in the Estado Novo nationalization policy, especially regarding the territorial and border occupation of the country. Secondly, we reflect on the reality of the region where the Federal Territory of Ponta Por? was created, the south of Mato Grosso, at that time. For this reason, it became imperative to report the presence and trajectory of the Mate Laranjeira Company, a private company of extraction and export of yerba mate, which increasingly became an obstacle to the settlement policy and nationalization of Estado Novo. Finally, we make a reflection on the project "model" written for the Federal Territory of Ponta Por? by its administration, and what was actually enforceable in its short three-year period of existence. We also make a brief analysis of the process of extinction of the Federal Territory of Ponta Por?. / Este estudo tem por objetivo analisar de que maneira as iniciativas federais, sobretudo a ?Marcha para Oeste?, durante o Estado Novo, influenciaram na cria??o do Territ?rio Federal de Ponta Por? (1943-1946). Para tanto, num primeiro momento, demonstra-se de que maneira a cria??o do Territ?rio Federal de Ponta Por? estava inserida na pol?tica de nacionaliza??o do Estado Novo, sobretudo no que tange ?s quest?es de ocupa??o territorial e fronteiri?a do pa?s. Em um segundo momento, reflete-se acerca da realidade da regi?o em que foi criado o Territ?rio Federal de Ponta Por?, o sul de Mato Grosso, no per?odo em contexto. Para isso, fez-se imprescind?vel reportar ? presen?a e trajet?ria da Companhia Mate Laranjeira, empresa privada de extra??o e exporta??o da erva-mate, que se revelava, cada vez mais, um entrave ? pol?tica de coloniza??o e nacionaliza??o do Estado Novo. Por fim, faz-se uma reflex?o acerca do ?modelo? de projeto tra?ado para o Territ?rio Federal de Ponta Por? pelos seus administradores, e o que de fato foi pass?vel de execu??o no curto per?odo de tr?s anos de exist?ncia desse Territ?rio, finalizando-se com uma breve an?lise do seu processo de extin??o.
