O trabalho do professor e as prescrições feitas por órgãos governamentais e estabelecimentos de ensino / The work of teachers and the prescriptions made by governmental organizations and educational institutionsMenezes, Marcos da Costa 15 September 2015 (has links)
This dissertation has as its broad objective to study the work of a teacher of French as a foreign language in the context of Centers of Studies of Languages of São Paulo and in the Extension Courses of French at FFLCH USP. Our main interest is to verify how the work of a teacher of FFL is affected (or not) by texts which prescribe/orient their work. Taking into consideration the teaching of French in the Brazilian context, it is understood that the texts which guide the work of teachers may not be enough or may be almost inexistent. Based on this finding, we want to comprehend how the teacher organizes his work and what is the view he has of himself in this work. In order to do so, we searched and analyzed the texts which guide the work of teachers of FFL, and on another stage, we also analyzed what the teachers say about their work based on interviews of instruction to the double (Clot, 1999). A greater theoretical background which reinforces this research is the Social Interactionist Theory, notably the studies developed by Vigotski (1927-1999) and the slopes of this greater background: the Socio-Discursive Interactionism (Bronckart, 1999, 2006, 2008; Machado, 2009), which provides us a model of analysis of texts - the textual architecture- and the theories which study the work, the Clinic of Activity (Clot, 1999, 2001, 2008; Faïta, 2011), and above all, the teaching work, the Ergonomics of Activity (Saujat, 2002, 2004; Amigues, 2002, 2004). We have also dealt with some contributions given by authors, mainly those which concern the enrichment of text analysis, namely, Authier-Revuz ((1998), Kerbrat-Orecchioni (2006), Maingueneau (1997). The methodology of this research includes the selection and analysis of texts which guide the teaching work and the constitution of a collective of work for the accomplishment of the interviews of instruction to the double, a technique conceived by Oddone (1981) and developed by Clot (1999) in the background of Clinic of Activity as an indirect method which leads to transformation and comprehension of the work situations from the workers\' verbalizations about their difficulties, challenges etc. The results of these analysis reveal, on one hand, how distant the texts which guide the work of teachers are from their activity; on the other hand, the analysis of the instruction to the double indicate the urgency of some characteristics of the professional genre, which is constituted beyond the specificities of each work context. Among the contributions of these researches, we highlight the potentially formative character of the constitution of the collective of work and the contribution of the teacher\'s intervention and its respective contexts.

Aprendizagem do trabalho de ensinar pelo professor iniciante / The learning of the work of teaching by the beginner teacherSoares, Fernanda 14 April 2016 (has links)
This dissertation has as its broad objective to understand the work of the beginner teacher of FFL in the context of extracurricular courses of French at FFLCH-USP. This study is carried out through the analysis of the texts which are present in the situation of work and those produced by the teacher before and after his classes. Our main interest is to study the role of the prescriptions/orientations in the work of this teacher, trying to understand how they affect his work. We also aim to investigate the activity of the teacher according to what he says about his own work and about himself as a teacher in this context. We have also considered, according to Clot (1999) that, in order to understand the work of a teacher, it must also be taken into consideration what this worker is asked to carry out, what he actually did and also what he could have done, but for some reason could not do it. In order to achieve our goals, we have investigated three texts: i) the document which orients the work of the teacher in the context studied; ii) teaching diaries written by this teacher after his classes and iii) texts of interviews of instruction to the double with the teacher after his work. The theoretical background that gives basis to this research is the social interactionism developed by Vygotski (1927-2009) and two of its features: the socio-discursive interactionism (SDI) (BRONCKART, 1999/2009,2006,2008), used as theoretical basis for the comprehension of the work of the teacher as a way of acting and for the analysis of all the texts, giving a model of textual analysis. In parallel to the theoretical assumptions of the SDI, we have also used as basis some of the concepts of the branches of the sciences of work, more precisely, the ergonomics of the activity (AMIGUES, 2002; 2004; 2013; SAUJAT, 2004) and the activity-clinic (CLOT, 1999, 2001; FAÏTA, 2002, 2004), theoretical trends which propose some procedures that allow the creation of dialogues about the activity of work, as a method of intervention of instruction to the double, used in this study. The results of this analysis reveal some intermediate resources elaborated by the beginner teacher in order to overcome obstacles, in his context of work, in the process of the transition between the life as a student and the life as a teacher. Among these contributions, we proposed some thought about the role of the teaching diaries and the methods of intervention instruction to the double in the professional qualification of teachers.

Speaking of culture : the tango of cultural sensitivity and language learning in a study abroad contextMartinsen, Rob Alan 11 January 2010 (has links)
Increasingly, government and educational institutions are turning to study abroad programs as one of the primary means of providing students with important cross-cultural and linguistic skills. However, because of constraints on time and financial resources most students participate in short term programs lasting approximately two months.
Additionally, research regarding students’ linguistic and cultural growth in study abroad shows that some students gain far more from their participation than others. The purpose of this study was to examine the cultural and linguistic learning that takes place in short-term programs and discover some of the factors that predict students’ growth while abroad. This study examined the relationship between important factors such as students’ level of cultural sensitivity, students’ relationship with their host family, motivation to learn the language, the amount of time students’ spent interacting with native speakers, as well as students’ oral language skills during a seven-week study abroad program. Surveys were used to measure each of the variables except for students’ oral language skills. To measure changes in oral skills, the researcher created an innovative instrument in which native speakers rated clips of student speech in the target language from before and after their time abroad. As found in previous research, students varied greatly in the amount of progress made in oral language skills and cultural sensitivity while abroad. However, students generally demonstrated small, but significant improvements in their oral language skills, despite the brief nature of their program. Further, the instrument created to measure growth in oral language skills showed high reliability. Interestingly, students’ level of cultural sensitivity prior to going abroad predicted changes in oral language skills. These results provide support for students’ participation in short-term study abroad programs since students generally experience noticeable improvements in language skills. They also suggest that students who are more culturally sensitive may have an advantage in language learning during study abroad programs. These results could be helpful for administrators in determining who may benefit most from such programs and may suggest that helping students gain cultural sensitivity could also aid students’ language learning. / text

Využívání alternativních metod ve výuce cizích jazyků / The use of alternative methods in foreign language teachingČavojská, Adéla January 2013 (has links)
This diploma thesis is concerned with the level of knowledge and use of selected alternative teaching methods - Suggestopedia, Total Physical Response (TPR), Community Language Learning (CLL), The Silent Way and Act&Speak method among the teachers of foreign languages of adults in Prague. For better orientation, it can be divided into two parts - theoretical and practical. In the theoretical part, I focus on the situation of foreign language education and foreign language policy of the European Union and the Czech Republic. Also, I define what is meant by the concepts of didactics of foreign languages and methods of foreign language teaching so that I can describe the traditional foreign language teaching methods (direct methods, indirect methods and eclectic methods) and alternative methods in the other section. In the practical part, I approach with the assumption that the teachers of foreign languages of adults in Prague do not know and do not use the selected alternative methods. These and other hypotheses were verified by a quantitative survey (questionnaire) which also examined whether there is a correlation between the teacher's education, length of the teacher's lecturing practice, a place of carrying out teaching activities and knowledge and using these alternative methods. All were...

O ensino-aprendizagem de espanhol como língua estrangeira em uma escola inclusivaNicolaus, Andréa Moreno 18 May 2012 (has links)

Previous issue date: 2012-05-18 / New parameters in Education have been proposed for some decades now, especially
concerning inclusive education. The respect for differences eliminates all forms of
inequality concerning disability according to the Lei de Diretrizes e Bases da Educação
Nacional(LDB) number 9.934/96, article 4, as well as the enactment 3.956 of the
Convenção Interamericana of October 8, 2001 approved by the National Congress. The
school is therefore a fundamental institution offering education which is appropriate and
adapted to each and every student, despite having any special educational needs (SEN)
resulting from biological factors. This research was developed in a school which
follows such educational principles, admitting all students who come to it, some of
whom may have SEN. The objective of this research is to study the impact of the
process of teaching-learning of Spanish in this inclusive school, as we believe that the
teaching-learning of languages is of great importance for all, once it provides the
students with a wide cultural range, broadening their world view and, more importantly,
their social relations. The theoretical framework is the Social Historical and Cultural
Psychology(Vygotsky, 2001), more specifically the Fundamentals of Defectology
(Vygotsky, 1997). The fundamentals of Defectology contribute to the understanding of
the intellectual development of the child with disability, supporting the thesis of the
learning process and his/her own development. The Social Activity, proposed by
Liberali (2009), is also discussed in this research, as it served as basis for the
development of the classes taught. Such theory is of great importance for the interaction
between students with special needs and the groups which they belong to, contributing
to the cognitive development and the autonomy of both as future citizens. This research
consists of a qualitative study, as it analyzes and interprets classroom situations. The
data consists of recordings of classes for the teaching of Spanish in two groups (7th and
8th grades). After the transcription, the classes were analyzed based on the modes and
the categories of argumentation and interpreted according to Vygotsky s theoretical
framework. The results of the research reveal that there has been some development in
the students teaching-learning, but that there could have been a greater interaction
between the students, which would promote a different learning and development of the

TITLE: Vowel Lenght: Comparison of Czech and French Vowel Systems from the Phonetic and Phonological Point of View. A Pedagogically Focused Contrastive Study. AUTHOR: Kateřina Vychopňová DEPARTMENT: Department of French Language and Literature SUPERVISOR: prof. PhDr. Marie DOHALSKÁ, DrSc./ prof. Philippe MARTIN The thesis, one of the French-Czech contrastive studies, deals with the issue of vowel length in Czech and French language. The first part of the thesis, which was intentionally written for a potential pedagogic use, introduces the comparison of the main phonetic and phonological characteristics of both languages, their typology considering vowels length and its development through the history of these languages. The second part, experimental, brings the description and results of several attempts which observe whether the French native speakers learning Czech respect the length of Czech vowels, further the influence of following consonants, final and initial stress and also the type of a syllable on the length of French vowels, both in the production of French native speakers and Czech native speakers learning French. The results prove that articulatory habits which both groups of speakers use in their mother tongue have a significant influence on the production of the acquired language. In...
