Pribićević Tijana 26 September 2017 (has links)

U doktorskoj disertaciji je najpre sagledana teorijska osnova primene računara i interaktivne nastave u nastavi biologije.

Za potrebe eksperimentalnog istraživanja kreirane su prezentacije 10 nastavnih jedinica iz nastavne teme Osnovi molekularne biologije prema programu biologije za IV razred gimnazije prirodno-matematičkog smera u Preziju. U eksperimentu sa paralelnim grupama ova nastavna tema je u eksperimentalnoj grupi realizovana
interaktivnom nastavom uz podršku računara radom u parovima, a u kontrolnoj grupi tradicionalnom nastavom.

/
Firstly, doctoral dissertation overviews theoretical aspect of computer application and interactive teaching in biology teaching.

For the purposes of experimental research, 10 Prezi presentations of teaching units from Basics of molecular biology for the 4 th grade of grammar schools, science major was created. This teaching topic was realized in experimental group by means of interactive teaching with the support of computers and pair work, whereas the teaching method applied for the control group was the traditional one.

Pedagogical experiment was conducted on the sample of 142 students (72 students in the E group and 70 students in the C group).

The following instruments were applied during the research: init ial test, final test and retest (all the tests comprised the questions from three different levels of knowledge: knowledge of facts, comprehension of notions and analysis and reasoning) and the questionnaire for the E group students about application of i nteractive biology teaching with computer support.

At the beginning of the research the E and the C groups were levelled according to: general success at school, grades in biology and chemistry in the first semester of the fourth grade of grammar school a nd initial test results in biology. After the completion of teaching process regarding the topic Basics of molecular biology by applying different models of teaching in the E and the C groups the final testing was conducted for the students of the E and the C groups followed by retesting for both groups in 60 days. After the test the E group students completed a questionnaire giving their opinion on quality of multimedia Prezi presentations and learning biology through interactive teaching method with computer support. The knowledge test results for the students of the E and the C groups were present ed by means of statistical parameters.

The E group students achieved far better results compared to the C group of students in final test and retest at all three tested levels of knowledge: knowledge of facts, comprehension of notions and analysis and reasoning. The differences in student achievement between the groups E and C in final test and retest at all levels of knowledge were in favour of the E group and also statistically significant.

The questionnaire results indicated that the students in experimental group have positive opinion on the quality fpresentation of teaching units from the teaching topic Basics on molecular biology that were created in Pre zi application as well as positive opinion of application of interactive teaching and computers in biology teaching for grammar schools.

The results of the research showed higher efficiency of interactive biology teaching with computer support compared to traditional teaching and the results of the questionnaire showed that the students accept the innovative approach to biology teaching. The results also point out the need for growing presence of modern didactical models not only in biology teaching but also in teaching other natural and social sciences.

Abstract: The general objective of this research is to investigate how current Portuguese school books (LDP), which have been produced after the elaboration of the National Portuguese Curriculum (NPC) and after being evaluated by the textbook national program (PNLD), develop the teaching of grammar. The teaching of grammar and its different methodologies have been subject of discussion among academics and generates many doubts among Portuguese teachers. This dissertation is divided into four chapters. The first (Grammar: History and theoretical background) deals with he first philosophical discussions about language in Western culture, which provided theoretical background to the traditional grammar, the tradition of grammar and Modern Linguistic studies. The second (Grammar in the history of Portuguese Language teaching and LDP) provides an overview of the development of the subject "Portuguese Language in Brazil" and LDP, giving emphasis to the didactic approach to grammar. Chapter 2 also presents some of the main proposals to the teaching of grammar by Brazilian linguists. The third chapter (Parameters of the teaching of Portuguese: PCN e PNLD) analyses the proposal(s) to the teaching of Portuguese done by PCN. It also presents a brief history of PNLD, focusing on the evolution of the evaluation criteria of linguistic and grammar knowledge throughout the four editions of the Program (1999, 2002, 2005, and 2008). The fourth chapter (What the LDP Do - Analysis of Corpus) analyses the teaching of grammar and language in some volumes of three different text book collections, which have been approved by PNLD/2008. / Mestrado / Lingua Materna / Mestre em Linguística Aplicada

The impact of a visual approach used in the teaching of grammar when embedded into writing instruction : a study on the writing development of Chinese first year university students in a British university in China

Gaikwad, Vinita January 2013 (has links)
Born into a visual culture, today’s generation of learners generally prefer a visually-rich multimodal learning environment. Tapping into the potential of visuals in language pedagogy, this study was aimed at discovering the impact of a visual presentation of grammatical concepts related to sentence structure on student writing. The study used a mixed methods design to analyse the impact of the visual approach first by statistically measuring sentence variety and syntactic complexity of student pre and post intervention texts and then using interviews to explain the nature of the impact of visuals on student conceptual understanding and its effect on their writing development. Statistical findings reveal that the experimental groups of Chinese students who were taught grammatical concepts in the context of writing instruction using a visual approach outperformed the students in the control groups who were given similar lessons in the context of writing instruction but using traditional printed hand-outs. Qualitative findings suggest that the visuals seems to have increased these students’ conceptual understanding of grammatical items that were taught, and this resulted in more sophisticated and syntactically complex texts after the intervention. The study supports the theory of contextualized teaching of grammar and proposes the use of external visuals that lead to internal visualization based on the cognitive theory of multimodal learning. In so doing, it extends the use of visual learning to grammar pedagogy. However, the findings also suggest that the visual approach would not work effectively in cultures that promote rote learning and decontextualized exercises in grammar with the sole aim of passing the exams. A shift in attitude towards grammar pedagogy in China is deemed necessary.

Die ontwikkeling van 'n onderrigleerprogramraamwerk vir Afrikaans addisionele taal / Christine du Toit

Du Toit, Christine January 2012 (has links)
Educationists, linguists and other stakeholders are concerned about the effectivity of the level of teaching regarding Afrikaans Additional Language. Some of the teachers of Afrikaans Additional Language are not qualified in the teaching of specifically a foreign language. There is a lot of uncertainty concerning the difference between the teaching of a home language and additional language teaching. In order to ensure learners improvement and achievement as well as future use of Afrikaans Additional Language it is necessary that the teaching of additional languages, especially Afrikaans must be given appropriate attention. The purpose if this study was to determine the selection the teachers made regarding teaching and learning approaches, methods and teaching materials, including the curriculum, textbooks and other documents, as well as to establish the perceptions of the learners regarding these approaches, methods and materials in the teaching of Afrikaans Additional Language in the Dr. Kenneth Kaunda District through empirical research, and to undertake a literature study to establish a teaching-learning program framework that can facilitate to the effective implementation of the National Curriculum and Assessment Policy Statement in all the language skills of Afrikaans Additional Language. An interpretive research paradigm was used as foundation for this study. A literature study was undertaken to establish what such a framework should look like with specific attention to language skills. Qualitative research was undertaken through using multiple case studies where teachers and learners who were willing to take part were questioned and observed regarding the teaching of Afrikaans Additional Language as well as the problems they experienced. Documents such as teaching materials and the curriculum were analysed as well. The analyses had a two-pronged focus: thematic analysis with the use of the computer software program, NVivo 8, where the data was reduced and thereafter analysed manually by the researcher. The researcher then used a comparative analysis to compare the different case studies (schools). The results of this study showed that the implementation of the curriculum was problematic for teachers, they were uncertain about the degree of difficulty of the teaching materials, and would rather stick to textbooks. The results also indicated that the teachers who did not use the communicative approach preferred to teach mainly through direct instruction. The communication in the classrooms was mainly teacher-orientated and the learners got little chance to use the language in interactive activities. The proposed teaching-learning programme framework for Afrikaans Additional Language should help teachers with the planning of their teaching as well as the implementation of the curriculum that could result in more effective Additional Language Teaching to learners. / Thesis (Ph.D. (Teaching and Learning))--North-West University, Potchefstroom Campus, 2012

Ind?cios sincr?nicos de gramaticaliza??o: o uso do verbo chegar em ora??es coordenadas e na per?frase verbal [chegar (e) + v2]: contribui??es para o ensino de gram?tica.

Macedo, Auric?lia de 02 March 2010 (has links)
Made available in DSpace on 2014-12-17T15:06:47Z (GMT). No. of bitstreams: 1 AuriceliaM.pdf: 273657 bytes, checksum: fb36a51df3f6b125ff330476ce2ea2fd (MD5) Previous issue date: 2010-03-02 / Coordena??o de Aperfei?oamento de Pessoal de N?vel Superior / Based on North American Functional Linguistic Theory, our proposal is to describe and analyze the use of verb CHEGAR in verbal periphrasis such as [CHEGAR (E) + V2], where CHEGAR does not demonstrate a significance linked to physical movement. In linguistic literature, such periphrasis has been attributed several functions, related to aspectualization, emphasis of negative segments, and construction of mental spaces, among others. This study considers that the function of verb CHEGAR in the periphrasis in question is to indicate a global aspect, emphasizing a range of semantic-pragmatic nuances such as the sudden, instantaneous, or even abrupt character of the events refered to by the principal verb of the construction (V2), and/or the taking of initiative (sudden) by the agent (in the syntactic role of periphrastic subject), and/or subjective evaluations which go from surprise to frustration. Our objectives are the following: i) to describe and analyze the semanticpragmatic, morphosyntactic and social relationships which characterize the use of CHEGAR in verbal periphrases like [CHEGAR (E) + V2] and in coordinated/juxtaposed speech in which CHEGAR is the principal verb of the first utterance and is an elocution verb and the principal verb of the second; ii) identify, based on this description and analysis, synchrony proof in the grammaticalization of CHEGAR as an auxiliary verb in the periphrasis refered to. There was observed to be a strong similarity between coordinate/juxtaposed and periphrastic constructions. Such similarities strengthen the hypothesis that the use of CHEGAR as a lexical verb in coordinate/juxtaposed structures is the origin of the use of CHEGAR in the periphrastic structure, since the many properties encountered with higher frequency in lexical use are also just as frequently used as auxiliaries. Nevertheless, between the two constructions being studied, sufficient difference can be observed to see that CHEGAR, in the periphrasis [CHEGAR (E) V2], is behaving like an auxiliary verb, and shows typical properties of these types of verbs: i) in 100% of occurrences, it does not have a complement;ii) it has a co-referential subject in 100% of cases; iii) it does not appear with intervening material between it and V2. Besides this, CHEGAR, in periphrases, is predominant in nonneutral evaluation contexts, denoted by V2. Inspired by the results obtained, we propose strategies for the discussion of the [CHEGAR (E) V2] periphrases in both elementary and high schools.
