Also the method for anti multi-path interference(MPI) of the system is proposed and its performance is analyzed. We proved that this system not only holds the merits which are inherent in common spread-spectrum communication system, but also has better transmission efficiency.

IP-Based Networking as Part of the Design of a Payload Control System

The network uses a private IP network between the payload and the ground-station. Commands are sent to the payload as UDP short message packets. Status and real-time telemetry are sent as UDP text strings. Production data are sent as files using a ftp-type of data exchange. Production data types include numeric data (sensor data) and JPEG-formatted picture data (full pictures and thumbnails). Details of the software used, challenges of making the system work over a low-quality radio link, and integration with the operating system will be discussed.

Given a multivendor instrument part catalog that contains sensor, actuator, transducer and other instrument data; user requirements (including desired measurement functions) and technical specifications; the instrumentation network configurator will select and connect instruments from the catalog that meet the requirements and technical specifications. The instrumentation network configurator will enable the goal of mixing and matching hardware from multiple vendors to develop robust solutions and to reduce the total cost of ownership for creating and maintaining test instrumentation networks.

A C-BAND MOBILE TELEMETRY SYSTEM

It can provide a wide range of bit rate and different code type and frame format which is completely set up by user in advance, to meet the requirements needs in different satellites. The PCM-PSK-PM signal and the PPM-MFSK-PM signal can be received and demodulated at the same time. Single channel monopulse technique is employed for automatic tracking. Angle calibration and angle tracking are performed in this system. Real-time data processing, displaying, testing of bit error rate and post-flight analyses is performed by PC type computer. All key components of the system may be programmed.

Being Aimed at the lower bit rate which is the essential shortcoming of Single-Pulse PPK(SPPK), Multi-Pulse PPK(MPPK) signal is introduced to this system. Its signal forms, bit rate, energy efficiency and error probability have been analysed in detail. The symmetric Bi-Pulse PPK(BPPK) signal with fixed reference pulse can be practised in engineering. In this system, front-ends are intelligent and modular, all modules are integrated in a personal computer chassis through EISA/PCI bus. The system operates under multi-media WINDOWS environment, with intelligent user interface. Faults can be detected and located automatically. With flexible performance, good expandibility and small size, the system can be used in reentry telemetry and many other fields where higher rate and lower power are both required.

Smart implant : the biomechanical testing of instrumented intramedullary nails during simulated callus healing using telemetry for fracture healing monitoring

The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of loading during long bone fracture healing in-vitro and in-vivo. Fracture healing has until now only been monitored using radiographs and ultrasound. An intramedullary nail instrumented with strain gauges has the potential to monitor loading in-vivo during bone fracture healing. Strain has been previously monitored over time though external fixation devices however there has been no published data about monitoring through a nail. The load carried by a telemetric intramedullary nail during simulated fracture healing is monitored in-vitro with the aid of custom designed jigs, integrated in a biomechanical test frame. Clinically predetermined loading conditions are applied to the construct and synthetic bone composites are used developed to simulate mechanical strength of early to mature osteogenic bone, approximating natural healing processes. Four different synthetic bone composites have been designed and developed to mimic the mechanical properties of granulation tissue, fibrous tissue, cartilaginous tissue and immature bone. Three different generations (GEN I – IIIa) of intramedullary nails were developed and biomechanically tested in-vitro. GEN I and II were purely biomechanical nails that underwent compression, torsional and 4pt bend tests. Different fracture patterns and callus morphology were simulated and tested biomechanically. Circumferential and segmental application of the synthetic materials were applied on the artificial fractured bone instrumented with GEN I. Observations from live animal study provided x-rays from which callus growth patterns were extracted and repeated in-vitro. Cadaveric biomechanical tests and pre-clinical trial of GEN IIIa was conducted. The aim was to repeat the biomechanical tests while at the same time monitoring healing with an instrumented nail implanted in an induced fractured, ovine left hind limb. A loading rig was designed for the in-vivo test. The hypothesis proposed is that forces experienced by an intramedullary nail will progressively decrease as fracture heals. Results from GEN I have shown that strain measurement can be monitored during fracture healing in-vitro. The GEN IIIa nail is yet to be tested in-vivo for the same biomechanical tests for comparison. There is currently no published study on simulating fracture healing with accuracy.

In the thesis the author deals with the Mobile Supervisory System Senior Inspect, which allows monitoring of elderly people living in home background. Monitoring makes use of biological and general technical values, which are wirelessly transported and digestedly displayed in a notebook monitor. The author focuses on the analysis of the requirements, she puts forward the metodology of aplications of the monitoring system. Next the author endeavours to determine the requirements of the monitoring system and extending the whole system. She describes the desk of Senior Inspect 24/7 and checklist created for it. At the conclusion of her thesis the author highlights use of the monitoring system. The findings of this thesis should help when the monitoring system is put into practice.

Ett telemetrisystem för en turboladdare : Ett examensarbete utfört i samarbete med Scania CV AB / A telemetry system for a HD turbocharger

Detta examensarbete har gått ut på att undersöka möjligheten till implementerande av ett trådlöst mätsystem för en turboladdare samt sedan ta fram en basinstallation för det valda systemet. Genom att tillämpa användningen av ett trådlöst mätsystem till Scanias turboaggregat så kan mätvärdena som erhålls användas till fortsatta designförbättringar och verka som en kontroll av Scanias turboleverantörer. Arbetet har behandlat studier i olika trådlösa mätsystem och sedan utse det som passar Scanias turboaggregat bäst, detta blev då telemetrisystemet. Arbetet fortsatte med etablering av kontakt med leverantörer och senare matcha Scanias krav och begränsningar med leverantörens föreslagna system. Arbetet har också hanterat framtagandet utav CADmodeller, ritningar för en monteringslösning till telemetrisystemet. Detta betydde att konstruera inom turboaggregatets begränsningar och driftområden så att monteringslösningen kan hantera de hårda förhållanden systemet kommer utsättas för vid drift. Arbetet resulterade med en framtagen offert och en systembeställning av ett 2 kanalsystem, även framtogs två stycken olika monteringslösningar som kan användas för fästa av telemetrisystemet i turboaggregatet. / The aim of this thesis has been to investigate the feasibility of a wireless measurement system for a HD turbocharger, and then implementing a base installation for the selected system. By applying the usage of a wireless measurement system to one of Scania’s turbochargers, the measurement values that obtained can be used for design improvements and as a verifier of Scania’s turbo suppliers. The thesis has covered studies in different wireless measurement system and later choosing one that fits Scania’s turbochargers best, this became the telemetry system. The thesis has also covered the development of CAD-models and drawings for a mounting solution to the telemetry system. This meant designing within the turbochargers design limits and operating areas so that the mounting solution could deal with the harsh condition the system will be exposed to. The thesis resulted in ordering the 2 channel telemetry system and a development of two different mounting solution that can be used to fasten the telemetry system within the turbocharger.
