As redes sociais on-line nos Blogs e sua relação com a comunicação.

MORAIS, Cleber Matos de January 2006 (has links)
Made available in DSpace on 2014-06-12T16:31:40Z (GMT).

LINE-1 couples EMT programming with acquisition of oncogenic phenotypes in human bronchial epithelial cells

Reyes-Reyes, Elsa M., Aispuro, Ivan, Tavera-Garcia, Marco A., Field, Matthew, Moore, Sara, Ramos, Irma, Ramos, Kenneth S. 23 October 2017 (has links)
Although several lines of evidence have established the central role of epithelial-to-mesenchymal-transition (EMT) in malignant progression of non-small cell lung cancers (NSCLCs), the molecular events connecting EMT to malignancy remain poorly understood. This study presents evidence that Long Interspersed Nuclear Element-1 (LINE-1) retrotransposon couples EMT programming with malignancy in human bronchial epithelial cells (BEAS-2B). This conclusion is supported by studies showing that: 1) activation of EMT programming by TGF-beta 1 increases LINE-1 mRNAs and protein; 2) the lung carcinogen benzo(a)pyrene coregulates TGF-beta 1 and LINE-1 mRNAs, with LINE-1 positioned downstream of TGF-beta 1 signaling; and, 3) forced expression of LINE-1 in BEAS-2B cells recapitulates EMT programming and induces malignant phenotypes and tumorigenesis in vivo. These findings identify a TGF beta 1-LINE-1 axis as a critical effector pathway that can be targeted for the development of precision therapies during malignant progression of intractable NSCLCs.

A Novel Road Marking Detection and Recognition Technique Using a Camera-based Advanced Driver Assistance System

Tang, Zongzhi January 2017 (has links)
Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) was widely learned nowadays. As crucial parts of ADAS, lane markings detection, as well as other objects detection, have become more popular than before. However, most methods implemented in such areas cannot perfectly balance the performance of accuracy versus efficiency, and the mainstream methods (e.g. Machine Learning) suffer from several limitations which can hardly break the wall between partial autonomous and fully autonomous driving. This thesis proposed a real-time lane marking detection framework for ADAS, which included 4-extreme points set descriptor and a rule-based cascade classifier. By analyzing the behavior of lane markings on the road surface, a characteristic of markings was discovered, i.e., standard markings can sustain their shape in the perpendicular plane of the driving direction. By employing this feature, a 4-extreme points set descriptor was applied to describe the shape of each marking first. Specifically, after processing Maximally Stable Extremal Region (MSER) and Hough transforms on a 2-D image, several contours of interest are obtained. A bounding box, with borders parallel to the image coordinate, intersected with each contour at 4 points in the edge, which was named 4-extreme points set. Afterward, to verify consistency of each contour and standard marking, some rules abstracted from construction manual are employed such as Area Filter, Colour Filter, Relative Location Filter, Convex Filter, etc. To reduce the errors caused by changes in driving direction, an enhanced module was then introduced. By tracking the vanishing point as well as other key points of the road net, a method for 3-D reconstruction, with respect to the optical axis between vanishing point and camera center, is possible. The principle of such algorithm was exhibited, and a description about how to obtain the depth information from this model was also provided. Among all of these processes, a key-point based classification method is the main contribution of this paper because of its function in eliminating the deformation of the object caused by inverse perspective mapping. Several experiments were conducted in highway and urban roads in Ottawa. The detection rate of the markings by the proposed algorithm reached an average accuracy rate of 96.77% while F1 Score (harmonic mean of precision and recall) also attained a rate of 90.57%. In summary, the proposed method exhibited a state-of-the-art performance and represents a significant advancement of understanding.

Porovnání přesnosti simultánní a sekvenční line-up identifikace u trestného činu s více pachateli / Comparing simultaneous and sequential line-up identification accuracy for a multiple perpetrator crime

Rác, Jaroslav January 2021 (has links)
Eyewitness identification is being researched for many years prior. However, research on eyewitness identifiaction was mostly conducted with crimes that involved only one perpetrator. For this reason, the present thesis focuses on eyewitness identification for a multiple perpetrator crime. The literature review summarises current knowledge regarding each aspect of recognition and tries to bring insight into the problem of recognition for multiple perpetrator crimes. For the empirical part of this thesis, an experiment was conducted, which aimed to compare simultaneous and sequential line-up identification accuracy. The experiment was changed from live to on-line enviroment due to the pandemic situation. The experiment was conducted on 151 young adult participants. Participants viewed a mock crime video recording involving a perpetrator and his accomplice. Participants were then randomly assigned two simultaneous or sequential line-ups and a target-present or target-absent condition. A week after viewing the video recording, each participant tried to identify the perpetrator and the accomplice in the assigned condition. Results indicated no statistically significant difference between simultaneous and sequential line-up identification. Discussion tries to explain possible influence of changing the...

Black-White, Black-Nonblack, and White-Nonwhite Residential Segregation in U.S. Metropolitan and Nonmetropolitan Areas, 1990-2010

Pressgrove, Jed Raney 14 December 2013 (has links)
The goal of this study is to examine racial residential segregation in U.S. metropolitan and nonmetropolitan areas. The study uses 1990-2010 decennial census data to answer a broad theoretical question: is the historical black-white color line being replaced by a black-nonblack or white-nonwhite color line? The results show that blackwhite segregation is higher than black-nonblack and white-nonwhite segregation in metropolitan areas, nonmetropolitan areas, and the United States as a whole. A multivariate analysis reveals that population size tends to be associated with higher segregation in metropolitan areas and lower segregation in nonmetropolitan areas. As a control variable, diversity seems to play an important role in segregation by U.S. region. The study concludes that further research is needed to examine how the color line might change, especially in nonmetropolitan areas, which experienced rapid minority population growth during the 2000s.
