A produção teatral paulistana dos anos 1980: rabiscando com faca o chão da história: tempo de contar os prejuízos em percursão de andança / The theatrical production of São Paulo in the 1980\'s

Mate, Alexandre Luiz 01 October 2008 (has links)
Para completar a reflexão, apresenta-se como anexo o levantamento, decorrente do processo de pesquisa desenvolvido, composto por fichas técnicas de 2.042 espetáculos de teatro adulto, coletadas em sete fontes documentais diversas: anuários de teatro e dança, entrevistas, jornais, livros especializados, programas de teatro, releases e revistas especializadas / This analysis focus on the theater made for adults in the city of São Paulo, Brazil, between the years of 1980 and 1990. Until now many researchers think that this was a lost decade in the theater realm, because they do not recognize the immense aesthetic value of the Brazilian drama in this period. Nevertheless, based on an extended documentation and statements of many artists who were active during those years, I affirm that the period was of a rich, polemic, and diversified production. On political terms, it corresponds to the end of a long and recent-ended dictatorship and to the first steps of new democratic era, which certainly are interconnected. At that time the artists lived an intense fight not only against the censorship, but also against the political and aesthetic prejudice from many leftists, and asked for an openly political agenda also in theater field. The groups under scrutiny are TUOV Teatro Popular União e Olho Vivo, (Popular Theater Union and Live Eye) that started in 1966 leaded by the director César Vieira (Idibal Pivetta); and Apoena/Engenho that started in 1979 leaded by its radical director, Luiz Carlos Moreira. Both groups are still active nowadays. In this work, I focus mainly on the epic and political treatment of their polemic performances of the play \"Apoena l.\" At the end I publish an extensive list of 2.042 performances of the period

A study of the glorious music of a brilliant age (Zhaodai xiaoshao) and the court theatre in the Qing dynasty. / 昭代簫韶與清代宮廷演劇研究 / Study of the glorious music of a brilliant age (Zhaodai xiaoshao) and the court theatre in the Qing dynasty / "Zhao dai xiao shao" yu Qing dai gong ting yan ju yan jiu: A study of the glorious music of a brilliant age (Zhaodai xiaoshao) and the court theatre in the Qing dynasty. / Zhao dai xiao shao yu Qing dai gong ting yan ju yan jiu

Theatrical performance played an important role in the Qing court culture. This thesis discusses the evolution and change of the court theatre institution throughout the Qing Dynasty. In the contexts of court entertainment, political activities and cultural policy, the creation and performance history of the grand theatre piece, Zhaodai xiaoshao, or The Glorious Music of a Brilliant Age, from the Qianlong-Jiaqing to the Guangxu period serve as an adequate example. In this case study, we can explore the nature of the Qing emperors and Empress Dowager Cixi, state ideology and the construction of the Empire’s image. / Most existing research in Qing court drama and theatre focuses on the Qing emperors’ great passion for theatre, the three-tiered grand stage in the imperial palace and the wealth of props and costumes, as well as the repertoire change in the late Qing, especially the formation and development of Jingju or Peking Opera. This thesis arguesthat given its rich contents and relevant contexts, the Qing court theatre deserves far more research both in breadth and in depth. The participation of the imperial power undoubtedly promoted court theatre. Theatrical performances at court became not only private entertainment for the imperial family; they also appeared in state ceremonies with special ritual significance. In addition, the grand plays like the 240-scened Glorious Music of a Brilliant Age projected the images and instructions of the emperorsto enlighten the subjects, for particular needs in political circumstances. / The Glorious Music of a Brilliant Age was based on the story of the Yang Family Generals in the Northern Song Dynasty. Usingthe concept of destiny, the grand play established the plot in which Song defeated Liao and the Taizong of Song completed the unification of the Hans and non-Hans. This is not the real history. However, the play reflected the transition from the early Qing of the northern ethnic-group regime to the mid-Qing of the unified Chinese dynasty. It showed the Manchu emperors’ intent to construct a political orthodox position for their empire. Through the specific costumesof its characters, this history play revealed the ethnic and identity issues among the audience in the Qing court. It teaches the audience and later, readers to be loyal subjects. / In the performance history of The Glorious Music of a Brilliant Age, it is also important to note the institutional evolution of the court theatre, especially the folk actors flowing inside and outside the court. These actors’ movement created opportunities for exchange between the court theatre and the public theatre. For instance, during the Hundred Days Reform, Zhaodai xiaoshao was adapted from its original Kun-Yi music to the Pihuang music under the command of the Empress Dowager Cixi to be performed by the eunuch actors and famous celebrities from the capital theatre. The adaptation and performances of this play, when closely examined, expressed the "ideal" parent-child and monarch-subject relationship which the Empress desired Emperor Guangxu to observe, given the reality of tension between the two at that time. In other words, the performances at court theatre often serve the political purpose of communication, indoctrination, as well as integration. / Detailed summary in vernacular field only. / Detailed summary in vernacular field only. / Detailed summary in vernacular field only. / Detailed summary in vernacular field only. / Thesis (Ph.D.) Chinese University of Hong Kong, 2014. / Includes bibliographical references (leaves 255-281). / Abstracts also in English. / Hu Guangming.

From laughing at the world to living in the world

Hojdyssek, Gunter, Art, College of Fine Arts, UNSW January 2007 (has links)
Born in 1938 in Poland, I epxperienced wartime Berlin and post-war Stalinism. My first job, at sixteen, was with the East Berlin States Opera and the Bertold Brecht's Berliner Ensemble. The play writes Betrtold Brecht and Buechner had the strongest influence on me. Brecht's play 'Mutter Courage and her children' and Georg Buechner's 'Woyzech' encapsulated the harsh realities of post-war Europe, and confirmed my desire for social justice and reform. Yet, the main influence on my work comes from my own life experience. My life in Australia has become a kind of exile-a deprivation of the origin of my culture and my cradle. After nearly forty years in Australia I feel a little displaced. Yet I left Europe voluntarily to escape from the very culture and history I now miss. I am experiencing a common dilemma of migration. I belong neither here nor there-a kind of dislocation. There exists a twilight zone in the in-between time-a discontinuity of my Berliner development. Artists such as Kaethe Kollwitz, John Heartfield, George Grosz, Otto Dix, and Max Beckman influenced my teenage years. Later, Joseph Beuys, Anselm Kiefer and Georg Baselitz. I work with found objects, such as toys crafted by human hand. I am giving them a new meaning, a new being. They are meditations on the conflict of war, where women and children are the primary victims of political fragmentation. My sculptures evoke memories of a childhood stolen. They take on a menacing character reminding the viewer of the effects war has on humanity. But Art is the reflector and searcher; it is our way to enlightenment. Joseph Beuys introduced the concept of an expanded notion of art ("der erweiterte Kunstbegriff???) to surpass the boundaries of modernism with in art, science, spirituality, humanism and economics. He drew attention to the potential of human creativity. Art, against all odds, is poetry to life.
