A Study of Theory of Constraint Application in Printed Circuit Board Products Mixed Decision Making .

Abstract One of the features in Taiwan market is price competition. What makes it even worse are the outflow of investment, more demand on environmental protection, increase of labor cost, and the limit of national policy. These factors make business hardly earn profits. And therefore, how to gain reasonably with limited resources and survive in the competition are the difficulties we need to overcome in Taiwan. Printed Circuit Board played a key role in ¡§Taiwan Financial Miracle¡¨ for the past 10 years. However, the manufacturers now have no choice but to search for new niche to meet the change on the whole business environment. The headquarters staying in Taiwan have to face even more harsh conditions, which come from the demand of cost-down, the price competitions among the same industry. Therefore, it becomes essential to adjust Product Mixed in order to fit the insufficient Product Resources. My study puts focus on ¡§Most Constrained Station¡¨ from the Theory of Constraint. It helps PCB manufacturers, who suffers slim profit, find out the best Products Mixed in accordance of Throughput Contribution. Each product brings different profit and cost. Some may share common resources, and some may not, when they are put in the process line. Therefore, to continue forward in the age of slim-profit, the complex of Product Mixed and earnings becomes prominent. Studying Theory of Constraint, I aim to bring forth the best solution on processing contribution by means of figuring out the Throughput Chain in Most Constrained Station and analysis of application on Most Constrained Station. And then I will conclude with the best production strategy for the PCB manufacturer as the main thesis of the research.

Now, although the market is large, but also a substantial growth of the overall market supply, the supply quickly exceeded demand. In saturated markets, companies how to overcome or co-competitors to grab a larger market share, profit? For enterprises, existence of the business mission is to provide products, services, customers. Without customers, there is no demand, companies will not be able to survive. Therefore, in addition to providing standard, high quality products, we must be able to respond more quickly to customer needs, get the trust and improve customer satisfaction. Enterprise subject to different tangible and intangible constraints, How to play the best of ability, flexibility and rapid response to customer demand among the existing constraints? Improve operational efficiency, reduce inventory costs, efficient delivery and with the best service in the competition for maximum profit. This study base on many constraints in the continuous industry using thought tool of theory of constraints to break the bottleneck and response customer's demand. Through the ERP combined with ATP / CTP mechanism to improve the order promising process. Effectively improve service efficiency, shorten customer product delivery, while enhancing the overall supply chain efficiency, enhance corporate competitiveness and profitability.

TOC Based Research on the FPC Industry's Improvement through ATP/CTP Production and Marketing Mechanism

The thesis is mainly a study on the Flexible Print Circuit which was producing manufactured. The research investigates how the FPC operates based on related product capacity data in the conjunction of back end MPS system data of producing scheduling database. Due to system and relative data collocation, it helps a salesman to make a better judgment on the outcome of an order before making promises to customers. In addition, this paper is looking into how applying the related production management method increases the number of the entire production and improves the efficiency on the production line. Then it studies how using this method can temporarily meet the needs of customers¡¦ big orders & cut-in orders before promising customers the date of delivery. Regarding manufacturing procedure of FPC, the purpose for increasing actual output is achieving the maximum production capability and the best arranging procedure. All information was given by different groups of employees from FPC industry, including its Sales Department, Production Management Department, Procurement Department and Supply Department; it also derives from the interviews with station managers and high level managers. With situation simulation and case simulation will be revised on current product line¡¦s output and try to bring up production operation model of FPC Industry. Finally, changing production management and station order to achieve its maximum production on FPC.

Engaging Employees in Sustainable Continuous Improvement Strategies

Lack of strategies to sustain continuous improvement initiatives to serve the needs of consumers whilst restructuring to conform to regulations has resulted in the collapse of some financial service companies in Ghana. The purpose of this multiple case study was to explore strategies some leaders of financial service companies use to engage employees to sustain continuous improvement initiatives to improve organizational performance. The targeted population comprised 6 senior leaders of financial service companies in Ghana who have engaged employees to sustain organizational continuous improvement initiatives. The conceptual framework for this study was Goldratt's theory of constraint complemented by the transformational leadership theory. Data were collected using semistructured face-to-face interviews, analysis of company reports, and field notes. Based on methodological triangulation and thematic analysis, 3 themes emerged from the study: operational excellence, employee engagement and incentives, and leadership strategies. The implications of these findings for positive social change include the potential to reduce poverty and improve quality of life in Ghana. Business leaders whose organizations attain improved financial performance can direct their efforts to increasing their organization's corporate social responsibility in the communities where they do business by supporting local charities and other initiatives.

Investigation into the production optimization of a dry mixing batch plant / Lydia Greeff

This dissertation reports the investigation and combination of optimization methodologies and the result of implementing them within a production environment. A literature survey was conducted on the optimization methodologies Lean Manufacturing and theory of constraints (TOC). A number of production optimization methodologies were studied and considered for application to the case study organisation. Due to the small size and relative simplicity of the operation, these methodologies had to be simplified and combined into a more relevant form. A refractory manufacturer was used as a case study for the investigation into the optimization of the dry batch plant. Lean Manufacturing and TOC are optimization methodologies that could be employed to optimize the dry batch plant. Tools from these methodologies were used to investigate problems identified within the production process that were causing the batching plant to perform non-optimally. A time and motion study was conducted and a process flow chart was created to understand the production process. Wasteful activities were identified using a value stream map and a flow process chart was used to visualise the movement within the production process. A 5-Why analysis was conducted to determine the root causes. An optimization plan was created to eliminate the wasteful activities and the operational measures, that is throughput, inventory and operating expense, were used as to determine what the effect the optimization plan would have on the wasteful activities (Lean Manufacturing) found within the batching plant and the organisation. The results of the combined effect of the optimization plan are discussed focusing on the improvements in the operational measures and the increase in profit from sales. The aim of this work is to outline chosen methods to be applied in developing a business plan for ICT product / service. Work formulates a business plan, project management, theory of constraints (TOC) and Quality Function Deployment. The TOC is mainly devoted to the principles of causality and this principles is applied to the sales and marketing theoretically. The practical section is analyzing the product / service by using the method of Quality Function Deployment, focusing on the application of TOC instruments (clouds and trees) during the prepation of project realization. The last part is the business plan for a specific ICT service.
