While recognizing this reality, while recognizing that it is not easy, it is possible to make some points of a sustainable rural development policy. In this perspective, the work investigated the sustainable rural development of the municipality of Triunfo - PE, located in the hinterland of the Pajeú, Semiarid, in order to verify if this really exists and how it has been occurring. In this sense, the Sustainability Model of the Rural Development Policy of Brazil (2010) was applied, which perceives sustainability in the rural environment from the social, ecological and economic dimensions. This theoretical model of sustainable development was fed based on IBGE's sustainability indicators (2002), and, therefore, the analytical model applied to the reality of the Municipality was elaborated. The primary data were analyzed by applying discourse analysis and secondary data through content analysis. As a result, the public policies, mainly those directed to family agriculture and financing of rural activities, as the main support for rural residents, are being carried out in the rural area of Triunfo - PE. And it is recognized that the development of rural sustainability is still bound to happen because of the limitations that many small producers have to expand their productive activities in their production units and therefore to develop socially, ecologically and economically. / É imprescindível acreditar que o desenvolvimento sustentável só será possível quando as limitações da realidade regional e local, na qual está inserido, forem conhecidas e respeitadas. Entendida essa realidade, embora reconhecendo que não seja fácil, torna-se possível alinhavar alguns pontos de uma política de desenvolvimento rural sustentável. Nesta perspectiva, o trabalho investigou o desenvolvimento rural sustentável do município de Triunfo – PE, localizado no sertão do Pajeú, Semiárido, com o objetivo de verificar se esse realmente existe e como vem ocorrendo. Neste sentido foi aplicado o Modelo de Sustentabilidade da Política de Desenvolvimento do Brasil Rural (2010), que percebe a sustentabilidade no meio rural a partir das dimensões social, ecológica e econômica. Esse modelo teórico de desenvolvimento sustentável foi alimentado com base em indicadores de sustentabilidade do IBGE (2002), e, por conseguinte elaborou-se o modelo analítico aplicado à realidade do Município. Os dados primários foram analisados aplicando-se a análise do discurso e os dados secundários através da análise de conteúdo. Como resultado, tem-se para o meio rural de Triunfo – PE, as políticas públicas, principalmente aquelas dirigidas à agricultura familiar e de financiamento às atividades rurais, como principal apoio aos residentes da área rural. E é reconhecido que o desenvolvimento da sustentabilidade rural ainda está comprometido a acontecer devido limitações que detém muitos pequenos produtores de ampliarem suas atividades produtivas em suas unidades de produção e, por conseguinte, desenvolver-se socialmente, ecologicamente e economicamente.
