The Political and Economic Analysis of the Hong Kong-China Integration

Lin, Li-wei 10 August 2005 (has links)
After Hong Kong returned to China, the integration of political field has completed. However, the divergence in social and economic fields remain significant which triggers the motives for this study. In the process of integration between Hong Kong and China, the ¡§One Country, Two System¡¨ and ¡§Closer Economic Partnership Arrangement¡¨(CEPA) have provided political and economic schemes respectively. The integration procedure in Hong Kong-China case, that is to integrate in political sphere first and then push forward other areas of integration subsequently, conforms to the characteristics of Federalism. In addition, it is found that the local government is subordinate to the central under the Hong Kong Basic Law, which means the principle of ¡§one country¡¨ is prior to ¡§two systems.¡¨ On the other hand, the practice of CEPA provides new opportunities for economic development in Hong Kong. Beijing also hopes that Hong Kong could help develop the Pan Pearl River Delta Region under CEPA. Under all kinds of forces from the central and local, it is predictable that Hong Kong will integrate into China gradually in the near future.

Investigation of split injection in a single cylinder optical diesel engine

Rodríguez, Álvaro Díez January 2009 (has links)
Over the last decade, the diesel engine has made dramatic progress in its performance and market penetration. However, in order to meet future emissions legislations, Nitrogen Oxide (NOx) and particulate matter (PM) emissions will need to be reduced simultaneously. Nowadays researchers are focused on different combustion modes like homogeneous charge compression ignition (HCCI) combustion and premixed charge compression ignition (PCCI) which have a great potential for both low soot and low NOx. In order to achieve these combustion modes, different injection strategies have been investigated. This study investigates the effects of split injection strategies with high levels of Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) on combustion performance and emissions in a high speed direct injection optical diesel engine. The investigation is focused on the effects of split injections at different injection pressures, injection timings and dwell angles using base diesel and biodiesel fuels. The effect of fuel properties has been also investigated as an attempt to reduce regulated exhaust emissions in diesel engines. Performance, emissions and combustion characteristics have been examined for two different biodiesel fuels, namely BTL 50 and BTL 46. A Ricardo Hydra single cylinder optical engine was used in which conventional experimental methods like cylinder pressure data, heat release analysis and exhaust emissions analysis were applied. Optical techniques like direct spray and combustion visualization were applied by means of a high speed imaging system with a copper vapour laser illumination system. A high-speed two-colour system has been developed and implemented to obtain in-cylinder diesel combustion temperature and soot measurements to gain better understanding of the mixture formation and combustion processes. This investigation concludes that the split injection strategies show potential to achieve low emissions combustion.

Axial development of two-phase flow parameters in a vertical column

Abel, Kent C. 30 April 2002 (has links)
The next generation of nuclear safety analysis computer codes will include detailed modeling of the interfacial area concentration. The interfacial area concentration is the essence of the two-fluid model. It is the most accurate of the two-phase models since it considers each phase independently and links the two phases together with six conservation equations. The interfacial area concentration, along with a driving potential, determines the energy, momentum and mass transfer between the two phases. The importance of this research lies in obtaining a greater understanding of the developing nature of two-phase flows and the application of the two-fluid model. With proper characterization of two-phase flow, the next generation of nuclear safety analysis computer codes will be able to incorporate this information to predict parameters during an accident scenario with greater precision. This research will provide a first order look into the developing nature of two-phase flow. As part of this research, the development of two-phase flow in a vertical column was analyzed using double sensor impedance probes. The resident vapor and liquid times were recorded along with the velocity of the vapor phase. By creating distributions of the bubble residence times, liquid residence times, velocities, and sizes, one can characterize the developing nature of the two-phase flow. Data was taken at four different axial locations for six different flow rates. The resulting data show clear trends in how the standard deviation and mean values for the measured parameters change as a function of flow rate and axial position. The void fraction contribution from the spherical/distorted bubble group as well as the cap/slug bubble group was also recorded to determine the net transfer rate of vapor between the two bubble groups. Interfacial area concentration was not included in the measurement since the probes that were used can only determine interfacial area concentration for spherical bubbles. Further research will be conducted with the inclusion of interfacial area concentration at a later time. / Graduation date: 2002

The manpower retention strategy of (Four shift two round) system ¡Vfor examples of T company

Lin, Wen-Mao 26 August 2005 (has links)
High technology business is the motive power of Taiwan¡¦s economic development. It creates the golden miracle of Taiwan¡¦s economic. IC industry and TFT LCD are the main force in Taiwan. Manufacture is core of these businesses. In-line operators are the fundamental of these businesses. [Four shift Two round] is the working style of these companies. It is different from the traditional industry in Taiwan. IC industries face the different labor power problem from highly growth status to mature status. The biggest change is they can't replace the new employee easily from the job market. Especially TFT industry joining, the replacement is higher in the labor power parts. It has already impacted IC industry. Mature labors select to quit and new employees are hardly to recruit. This situation made IC industry need to review their strategies of labor power maintenance. It is the most important part for each IC manufacturing company to recruit suitable new employees and keep the mature labor power. Labor power maintenance is not only the duty of human resource department. It needs to be aligned with the core value of the whole business. Concentrate the common consensus of all members and provide the labor power policy to correspond with current environment. This study is through the quit analysis and investigate to analyze the working status and system of the operators of [Four shift Two round]. Hope to provide the conclusion and suggestion for related businesses.

The Study of Johannes Brahms' Variations on a Theme by Haydn, op. 56b

Chen, Mei-ju 07 July 2006 (has links)
The European arts in the nineteenth century went through significant changes with the advent of romanticism. In respect to music, more and more composers at that time set out to express their emotions through the beauty of sounds and rhythms, imbuing their works with multiple elements and alterations. However, the overemphasis on the subjective experience of the composers led to the gradual loss of simplicity and purity in their music. At that time, Brahms abondoned the artistic trend of the epoch and refused its pompous and exaggerated style. Devotedly following Bach, Beethoven and Schuman in their aesthetic perspectives and musical creations, Brahms composed absolute, introspective, sincere and in-depth works in the classical form. Variations on a Theme by Haydn, op. 56 composed by Brahms in 1873, was the representative piece marking his shift from large piano works to orchestra works, exhibiting the master¡¦s habitual use of composition skills and mature variation techniques. The two pianos version (op. 56b), as Brahms¡¦ most important work of its kind, illustrated how he took advantage of the strength of two pianos to arrange multiple voices with expertise. This piano piece pushed the artistic value of Brahms¡¦ two pianos works to its peak in the musical history and launched their golden age. Chapter One of this thesis gives the definition of variations, introduces its types and discusses the historical specificity of the variations of the nineteenth century. Chapter Two introduces the life of Brahms and his variations. Chapter Three probes into the composing skills, variation techniques and features illustrated in Brahms¡¦ Variations on a Theme by Haydn, op56b. Chapter Four examines the history of two pianos and gives suggestions on the performing of two pianos works.
