Kaum hatte die deutsche Bundesregierung den Beschluss gefasst, den Beschluss im UN-Sicherheitsrat über eine Flugverbotszone über Libyen nicht zu fassen, ging eine Welle des Geschimpfes durch die politische Kaste dieses Landes. Diejenigen, die sich wahlweise so schön eingeschaukelt haben in das Bett der transatlantischen Subordination oder sich bereitwillig hinter Großsprüche französischer Ambition ducken, wenn sie gerade mal nicht den Vorgaben aus den USA folgen wollen, waren aufgeschreckt.

Este trabalho intenta mostrar a presença da Filosofia e, em particular, da Metafísica no sonho perseguido pela actual Física das Partículas que é o da procura e obtenção de uma Teoria Final ou GUT «Grand Unified Theory», uma espécie de «Equação Final» do tipo matemático que contenha todas as leis da Natureza na sua formulação. Para isso, faremos uma breve incursão sobre as principais teogonias, cosmogonias e teocosmogonias que orientaram a vida de muitos povos e, em especial da Grécia, berço da nossa civilização, bem como dos grandes paradigmas científicos que estão e estiveram na base de grande parte do nosso actual conhecimento. Procuraremos encontrar aí, pelo menos alguns dos fundamentos que podem eventualmente explicar ou justificar este desiderato da Física, reabilitando talvez e sem que tal tenha sido por nós pretendido, a Filosofia e o seu iniludível papel na formação e consolidação do conhecimento humano.

This brief history of the Workshop Theatre at Louisiana State University in New Orleans (LSUNO -- now UNO) relates events that played an important part in defining the racial integration of all student extracurricular activities at the university and the genesis of the current University of New Orleans (UNO) Department of Film, Theatre, and Communication Arts, during the period between the early 1950s and the early 1970s. The origin of the university is discussed briefly to inform the reader about the university's origin, its location, and how racial integration was advanced by actions at the Workshop Theatre. The remainder of the thesis traces the development of a major department of the university, its location on campus, the measures taken to extend the budget, and the faculty and students involved in the Theatre in the period prior to the construction of the Performing Arts Center on the UNO campus.
