This diploma thesis presents various redesign scenarios of the intersection of Ruprechticka, Michelsky vrch and U Pramenu streets located in Liberec, Czech Republic. The work presented in this thesis is as answer to the current intersection arrangement that does not meet the requirements of a safe traffic crossroad due to its broad, unorganized spatial arrangement. Three redesign options are developed and proposed based on performed traffic volume counts, vehicular speed monitoring, and previous history of traffic accidents in this intersection. Implemented traffic calming measures include significant changes to the lane arrangement and width in the intersection. It is proposed that the U Pramenu street is converted to one-way street to further reduce the overall traffic volume travelling through the intersection. Moreover, all redesign scenarios and strategies focus on improving safety and comfort of pedestrians and persons with disabilities. Finally, a multiple-criteria decision analysis is carried out and the most viable redesign option is selected.

This diploma thesis presents redesign of urban road in municipality Švábenice. The condition of this road is unsuitable. The redesign of horizontal and vertical solution is developed and proposed based on the obtained data. This proposal focuses on improvement of traffic safety. The important part of this redesign was the solution of the unsuitable intersection in the centre of municipality. This intersection was divided to two separate ones. The new proposal improves viewpoint and orientation conditions for drivers. This improves traffic safety in this location. This proposal contains solution of parking, traffic signs, drainage, improving safety and comfort of pedestrians and persons with disabilities. This redesign respects affected lands and their usage. It respects existing engineer networks and requirements of territorial plan of the municipality Švábenice.

Os levantamentos topográficos para implantação de vias urbanas são usualmente realizados utilizando instrumentos e processos clássicos da topografia. A presença de obstáculos (casas, prédios) ao longo do percurso, reduz a produtividade do trabalho além de contribuir para a imprecisão dos resultados. Este trabalho analisa a metodologia de utilização de receptores do sistema GPS (Global Positioning System) para o georeferenciamento, implantação de bases de apoio e complementação ao levantamento convencional com Estação Total. No desenvolvimento do projeto de uma via, é de esperar que desvios centimétricos na determinação das coordenadas dos pontos das bases de referência pouco afetam os resultados finais. Procurando verificar a contribuição destes desvios, foram realizados vários levantamentos convencionais e com o GPS ao longo do eixo de uma via projetada na cidade de São Carlos. No final do trabalho são analisados aspectos referentes a execução destes levantamentos, concluindo sobre as vantagens e desvantagens de cada método e da integração GPS e Estação Total. / The surveying for development of urban roads are usually accomplished by using instruments and processes of classic Topography. The presence of obstacles (houses, buildings) along the course it reduces the productivity of the work besides contributing for the imprecision of the results. This work analyzes the methodology of use of receivers of the GPS (Global Positioning System) for georeferring, implant of support bases and complementation to the surveying with Total Station. In the development of the project of a road, it is expected that centimetric deviations in the determination of the points coordinates of the reference bases cause small effects in the final results. Trying to verify the contribution of these deviations, several surveys were accomplished with the Total Station and GPS along the axis of a road projected in the city of São Carlos. In the end of the work several aspects are analyzed about the execution of these surveys, concluding on the advantages and disadvantages of each method and of the integration GPS and Total Station.

Previous issue date: 2015-04-30 / The Traffic and Transport Engineering has developed several techniques to mitigate the pernicious causes from the risks associated with intersections or crossing points level in traffic. Among the several devices of better efficiency and lower cost are the roundabouts, which are intended to simplify the intersection, so that the traffic that interacts there has a safe conduct, with few points of conflict and small delays. Although today has been widely used in the world and brazilian urban traffic the roundabouts are geometric elements that prioritize or monopolize motorized vehicular traffic due to lack of infrastructure, whether by choice or lack of technical knowledge, for cyclists, pedestrians and public transport have equal security. To assess what are the indicators that lead to this monopolization of devices were used ten roundabouts, being five in São José do Rio Preto and five in San Carlos, and proposed a confrontation of technical concepts between experts in the fields of Urban Planning and Urban Engineering, through AHP method, specialized literature and reality found in loco, to check for possible similarities and diferences existing between definitions, concepts and options and thus identify which factors are taken into consideration in the project, implementation and maintenance of or devices. Came to the conclusion that the specialized literature and subject matter experts defend pedestrians as a priority for the project, deployment, infrastructure and maintenance, but the devices are not able to safety. / A Engenharia de Tráfego e de Transportes tem desenvolvido várias técnicas para abrandar as causas perniciosas provenientes dos riscos existentes em pontos de interseção em nível no trânsito. Dentre os dispositivos viários de melhor eficiência e menor custo estão as rotatórias, que têm como finalidade simplificar a interseção, para que o tráfego que se ali interage tenha um desenrolar seguro, com poucos pontos de conflitos e pequenos tempos de espera. Embora na atualidade venha sendo muito utilizada no trânsito urbano mundial e brasileiro, as rotatórias são elementos geométricos que priorizam ou monopolizam o trânsito veicular motorizado devido à falta de infraestrutura, seja por opção ou carência de conhecimento técnico, para que ciclistas, pedestres, e transportes coletivos tenham igual segurança. Para aferir quais são os indicadores que levam a esta monopolização nos dispositivos, foram utilizados dez rotatórias sendo, cinco em São José do Rio Preto e cinco em São Carlos e proposto um confronto de conceitos técnicos entre especialistas nas áreas de Urbanismo e Engenharia Urbana, através do método AHP (Análise Hierárquica de Processos), literatura especializada e realidade constatada in loco, para verificar possíveis similaridades e diferenças existentes entre definições, conceitos e opções e assim identificar quais fatores são levados em consideração no projeto, implantação e ou manutenção dos dispositivos. Chegou-se à conclusão que a literatura especializada e os especialistas no assunto defendem os pedestres como prioridade para projeto, implantação, infraestrutura e manutenção, entretanto os dispositivos não estão aptos a segurança dos mesmos.

urbanas, agravadas pela falta de recursos disponÃveis para tal fim à o que motiva a
implantaÃÃo dos sistemas de gerÃncia aplicada à pavimentaÃÃo urbana. Estes sistemas
sÃo capazes de alocar os recursos dos orÃamentos de manutenÃÃo de infra-estruturas de
estradas, aos trechos mais necessitados, onde a sua utilizaÃÃo serà otimizada,
priorizando-se os investimentos em funÃÃo do estado de conservaÃÃo da via e da
importÃncia da mesma. Neste contexto, esta dissertaÃÃo propÃe a anÃlise dos defeitos
existentes nos pavimentos urbanos atravÃs do uso da metodologia Paver (Pavement
Maintenance Management System), desenvolvida pelo U.S. Army Corps of Engineers
(USACE), baseada no cÃlculo do Ãndice de CondiÃÃo do Pavimento (PCI) que utiliza o
tipo de defeito encontrado no pavimento e a sua severidade correspondente para calcular
o seu valor. O estudo faz adaptaÃÃes à metodologia em questÃo para permitir a anÃlise
de calÃamentos de paralelepÃpedos, bastante utilizados na cidade de Fortaleza,
levantando os defeitos existentes nestes e avaliando a situaÃÃo dos mesmos pela Ãrea
superficial dos danos existentes, uma vez que este tipo de revestimento nÃo à abordado
pela metodologia Paver. Para testar a eficÃcia desta forma de anÃlise dos pavimentos
urbanos, foi realizado um estudo de caso, em um trecho da malha viÃria urbana de
Fortaleza, com 604m de extensÃo, que apresenta um trecho asfaltado e outro calÃado
com paralelepÃpedos. Os resultados demonstraram a facilidade de aplicaÃÃo da
metodologia e da adaptaÃÃo desenvolvida, propiciando a viabilidade de sua implantaÃÃo
na malha viÃria urbana das grandes cidades em um Sistema de GerÃncia de Pavimentos
(SGP). AtravÃs dos critÃrios de priorizaÃÃo, expostos no Paver, pode-se fornecer uma

o controle destes nas obras de restauraÃÃo e manutenÃÃo das vias. / The necessity of constant maintenance and restoration services of the urban
ways, aggravated by the lack of proper and sufficient resources, is the main motive for
the application of management systems on urban pavements. These systems make it
possible to allocate resources of the road infrastructure maintenance budget to the areas
where they are most needed. By doing this, it becomes possible to optimize investments
using them according to certain criteria, which will take into consideration the waysâ
conservation status and also their importance. Within this context, this dissertation
proposes an analysis of the existing distresses on urban pavements through the use of
the PAVER methodology (Pavement Maintenance Management System), which was
developed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE). Such methodology is based
on the Pavement Condition Index (PCI), which takes into consideration the type of
distress found and its severity level to calculate its value. In order to permit an analysis
of ways with paving stone surfaces, which is frequently seen in Fortaleza, there have
been some adaptations on the studied methodology by listing the existing distresses and
evaluating their situation for the existing damagesâ superficial area, once that this type
of way is not approached by the PAVER methodology. In order to test the efficiency of
this way of analyzing urban pavements, a case-study has been conducted in a small
portion, 604 meters long, of Fortalezaâs road network which is composed by two
different paving surfaces; asphalt and paving stone. The results show the applicability of
this methodology and the adaptation that has been developed, making it possible its
implementation in big citiesâ road networks in a Pavement Management System (PMS).
Through the criteria of priorities, postulated by PAVER, one can provide a list of
priorities of intervention in road network segments, the ones that really need
intervention, as to reduce the waste of public resources and allow a better spending
control of these resources when restoration and maintenance services are being carried
out in road networks.

Since the introduction of motor vehicles, the number of fatalities and accidents has been a concern for society.The number of fatalities on roads is amongst the most common causes of mortality worldwide (WHO, 2015).Even in industrialized countries the number of fatalities remains unacceptable. Therefore, in the last decades, anumber of approaches have emerged to support and boost traffic safety towards a system free from fatalities andserious impairment outcomes. ‘Sustainable Safety’ and ‘Vision Zero’ are well-known examples aiming to avoidfatalities within the traffic system and reduce injury severity when a traffic accident is inevitable. However, thenumber of fatalities and seriously injured accidents are still relatively high. More specifically, vulnerable roadusers remain involved in fatal and serious accidents even in industrialized countries. Therefore, further advancesin traffic safety studies are needed. This thesis aims at evaluating the impact of road characteristics, traffic rulesand information provision towards a safer traffic system. Previous issue date: 2016-02-25 / CAPES - Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / A formação do centro urbano da cidade de Juiz de Fora/MG na região em que se estabeleceu deve-se, em grande medida, à sua principal via, a avenida Barão do Rio Branco. No início do século XIX, a história da cidade integra-se à formação da avenida e as influências cidade-avenida passam a ser recíprocas. Com o intuito de elucidar essas relações, a presente dissertação apresenta o histórico da avenida e suas principais transformações, através da identificação dos marcos históricos na paisagem. O entendimento das características da paisagem urbana e do espaço público tornou-se necessário para a análise das intervenções ocorridas. O recorte temporal da pesquisa aqui relatada inicia-se em 1836, data relacionada ao desvio que deu origem à avenida, estendendo-se até os dias atuais. Como área de estudo, considerou-se a avenida Barão do Rio Branco em toda a sua extensão. Tratou-se de uma pesquisa de natureza básica, configurando um estudo de caráter documental e bibliográfico, através de revisão bibliográfica, coleta de dados primários, iconografia e dados aferidos pelo autor para a caracterização da via na atualidade. A interpretação do histórico da avenida contribui para o esclarecimento dos meandros de sua formação, sobretudo datas específicas e períodos. As intervenções relacionadas cronologicamente possibilitaram a observação dos rebatimentos na conformação da malha urbana, identificando o papel da avenida como importante articuladora da área central. As transformações na paisagem e na conformação da avenida também puderam ser observadas em seus diferentes períodos, visto que, ao longo do tempo, a avenida Barão do Rio Branco passou por muitas alterações que tiveram significativo impacto na paisagem de Juiz de Fora. De caráter estrutural ou embelezamento, essas alterações mostram a grande importância da avenida nesta cidade. / The formation of theurbancenter of Juiz de Fora/MG in theregion where it isestablished, is duelargelyto its main route, the Barão do Rio Branco Avenue. In the early nineteenth century the history of the city is part of the formation of the avenue and city-avenue influences become reciprocal.In order to elucidate these relationships, this research shows the history of the avenue and its major transformation, by identifying landmarks in the landscape, space and time. Understanding the features of the urban landscape and public space has become necessary to analyze the interventions occurred. The time frame begins in 1836, when related to the detour that resulted Avenue, extending to the present day. As the study area considered the Barão do Rio Branco Avenue in all their extension. This is a basic nature of search, setting a documentary and bibliographical study, developed at the Post Graduate Program in Built Environment of the Federal University of Juiz de Fora, through literature review, primary data collection, iconography and data measured by the author to characterize the road today. The interpretation of the avenue's history helps to clarify the intricacies of their training, particularly specific periods and dates. Related interventions in chronology enable observation of repercussions in shaping the urban fabric, identifying the role of the avenue as an important articulator of the central area. The changes in the landscape and Avenue conformation could be observed at different periods, as over time the Barão do Rio Branco Avenue goes through many changes that had a significant impact on Juiz de Fora landscape. Structural or beautification character, these changes show the great importance of the avenue to the city.

This diploma thesis presents the design of sidewalks in selected localities in Kyjov. This master's thesis deals with the three projects. The first one is a revitalisation of Vrchlickeho street, next one deals Svatoborska and Riegerova street. The last part is a design of sidewalks in these streets: Brandlova, U vodojemu, Moravanska and Netcicka. The redesign of horizontal and vertical solution is developed and proposed based on the obtained data. These projects are focused on the increase of comfort of the sidewalks, maximalisation of the number of parking lots and improves traffic safety. It was important to connect the designed parts as roads and sidewalks to the rest of the landscape, buildings and roads continuously. This proposal contains solution of the drainage, the traffic signs, the improvement of the safety and comfort of pedestrians and persons with disabilities. This redesign respects affected lands and their usage. It respects existing engineer networks and requirements of territorial plan of the town Kyjov.

In my diploma thesis "The Development of Urban Build-up Area and Urban Infrastructure in Benešov in the Years 1918 - 1939", I explore one chapter in the development of a small agricultural town during the era of the First Czechoslovak Republic. This thesis is a contribution to the history of Czech towns during the interwar period and its topic corresponds to the research project of the Institute of Economic and Social History at the Faculty of Arts, Charles University in Prague, within the frame of which I worked on this thesis. The thesis was written mainly based on research of the resources in the State District Archives in Benešov (a branch office of the State Regional Archives in Prague) and of a wide range of relevant specialized literature. The introduction consists of a chapter offering a complex summary of the most important moments and changes in the development of Benešov during the examined period. Apart from the history of Benešov, it also shows the role of the town in the region and the relation of its development to other municipalities in the country. The focal point of the thesis lays in the extensive yet lucid chapters examining architectural development of the town (the essential moments, context, but also particular interesting buildings) and the development of its infrastructure...
