No Brasil, ainda é pequeno o número de estudos que estão sendo publicados como resultados de pesquisas, no que diz respeito à usabilidade da interação humano-computador, em que projetistas e desenvolvedores de sistemas informatizados pouco utilizam os parâmetros ergonômicos para projetos e testes de avaliação de usabilidade de interfaces. Pior do que não se atentar a estas questões é deixar de lado um dos fatores mais importantes deste processo: o usuário. É nele que se deve fixar. Ele é a resposta para muitas perguntas que ainda pairam sobre o assunto web. Pode ser considerado um grande colaborador, desde que seja convidado para participar do desenvolvimento e do crescimento desta nova área. Afinal, a web, a internet e os sites, foram e são projetados para ele. Deixe-se então que os mesmos apontem seus "modelos mentais" de como deve funcionar esse setor informático, através da organização das informações, facilitando a comunicação entre ele e a máquina. Fixando-se no usuário, a pesquisa tece considerações e aponta a técnica de Card Sorting como uma das que pode auxiliar na busca pelos "modelos mentais" dos usuários, reorganizando informações e criando novas taxonomias de forma que lhe façam mais sentido. Considerando a home page a página inicial do sites e o primeiro contato dos usuários com os mesmos e com o mundo da internet, utilizou-a como foco da pesquisa, enquanto interface gráfica. / Abstract: The internet, through the web, has gained a great number of users which leads us to consider how the usability and the ergonomic issues have been worked on this field. In Brazil, the number of studies released as results ofr researches is still small concerning the usability of human-computer interaction, in which projectors and information systems developers do not use the ergonomic parameters for the evaluation of interfaces usability projects and tests. Worst than not considering these questions is letting aside one of the most important factors in this process: the user. He has to tbe considered. he is the answer to many questions that follow this subject. He can be taken as a great collaborator, as soon as he is invited to participate in the development and growing of this area. After all, the internet, the web and the sites were and still are designed for the user. One must let the user point out his "mental models" of how this information field must work, through the information organization, allowing the communication between him and the machine. Based on the user, the research takes the Card Sorting technique as a tool in the search for the users' first contact with the internet world, it was used as the core in the research, as a graphic interface. / Mestre

Uma das características da área de meio ambiente é que esta apresenta facetas de difícil controle, por ser multi e interdisciplinar. A informação produzida e utilizada nesta área encontra-se dispersa em diversas fontes. Dessa forma, o comportamento de busca da informação ambiental por pesquisadores da área faz-se pertinente. A pesquisa teve como objetivo principal a análise do comportamento de busca e uso da informação ambiental por parte dos pesquisadores de duas instituições vinculados a programas de pós-graduação da área de Ecologia. Objetivou-se ainda caracterizar a informação ambiental, incluindo aspectos históricos e atuais, enfocando o contexto brasileiro, delinear o perfil dos pesquisadores-usuários da informação ambiental, identificar os hábitos de busca e as fontes de informação consideradas fundamentais. Utilizou-se uma metodologia quantitativa e descritiva e os dados foram obtidos através de questionário contendo perguntas abertas, semi-abertas e fechadas. Constatou-se que os pesquisadores da área de meio ambiente, tanto de mestrado, quanto de doutorado, apresentam um comportamento de busca e uso da informação independente, não necessitando necessariamente de intermediários para a realização da busca por informação e estes apresentam aspectos similares e diferentes no que concerne a esse comportamento. Espera-se que este estudo possa trazer significativas contribuições ao campo da Ciência da Informação, em especial a linha de Organização da Informação e que suscite outras discussões sobre este tema. / Abstract: The environmental issue occupies an important place in society and is growing increasingly in scope. One of the characteristics of environment area is that it presents facets difficult to control, to be multi and interdisciplinary. The information produced and used in this area is scattered in various sources. Thus, the study of the conduct of search of environmental information by researchers in the field it is relevant. The research was aimed primarily at examining the conduct of search of environmental information by researchers from both institutions linked to postgraduate programmes in the ecology area. The objective was to further characterize the environmental information, including current and historical aspects, focusing on the Brazilian context, outlining the profile of researchers-users of environmental information, identify patterns of search and sources of information considered essential. We used a descriptive and quantitative methodology and data were obtained through a questionnaire containing questions open, semi-open and closed. It was found that researchers in the field of environment, both master's or a doctorate, presenting a performance of search and use of independent information, not necessarily requiring an intermediary to conduct the search for information and they have similar and different aspects in relation to this behavior.It is hoped that this study could bring significant contributions to the field of Information Science, in particular the line of Organization of information and that raises further discussions on this subject. / Mestre

Orientador: Helen de Castro Silva / Banca: Mariângela Spotti Lopes Fujita / Banca: Ariadne Chloe Mary Furnival / Resumo: Com o desenvolvimento da Web e, conseqüentemente, das bibliotecas digitais, open archives, repositórios entre outros, novos sistemas e fontes de informação têm sido criados, colocando os usuários em um novo ambiente de busca e recuperação da informação, caracterizado pela sobreabundância de recursos informacionais dispostos no formato de hipertexto, aumentando significativamente as possibilidades de acesso. Diante deste ambiente digital de informação, uma das funções das Linguagens Documentárias é representar as informações dos documentos contidos nestes sistemas de informação, de tal forma que o usuário seja capaz de acessar essa informação para o uso, comunicação e, principalmente, para a geração de novos conhecimentos. No entanto, o problema-chave da Recuperação da Informação passa pela busca de procedimentos teóricos e metodológicos para a Organização e Representação da Informação, ou seja, uma das principais problemáticas é encontrar meios de aperfeiçoar os métodos de Organização da Informação ao nível conceitual, de forma a aumentar a acessibilidade pelos usuários finais. Diante disto, foi proposto um estudo exploratório de análise teórica de alguns modelos de comportamento de busca de informação que, de acordo com a literatura especializada, são os que têm maior impacto em termos de pesquisa na área. Tais modelos podem ser incorporados aos processos de tratamento temático da informação, permitindo a bibliotecários e indexadores a se darem conta das variáveis que interferem no processo de busca e recuperação da informação dos usuários e, desta forma, entenderem os fatores que afetam a organização e representação da informação. Como resultados considera-se que uma abordagem que procure colocar o usuário no centro das preocupações na Organização da Informação deve recorrer à experiência acumulada... (Resumo completo, clicar acesso eletrônico abaixo) / Abstract: With the development of the Web and, consequently, of the digital libraries, open archives, repositories between other, new systems and information sources have been created, placing the users in a new search and information retrieval environment, characterized by the abundance of informational resources disposed in the hypertext format, increasing the access possibilities significantly. Ahead of this information digital environment, one of the Indexing Languages functions is to represent the information of the documents contained in these information systems, so that the user be capable to access that information for the use, communication and, mainly, for the generation of new knowledge. However, the problem-key of the Information Retrieval goes by the search of theoretical and methodological proceedings for the Information Organization and Representation. In other words, the principal problematic is to find means of improving the methods of Information Organization at the conceptual level, in way to increase the accessibility for the end-users. Ahead this, an exploratory study of theoretical analysis was proposed of some information search behavior models that, in agreement with the specialized literature, they are the ones that have larger impact in research terms in the area. Such models can be incorporate to the information thematic treatment processes, allowing to librarians and indexers the if give bill of the intervening variables in the search and information retrieval process of the users and, this way, that they understand the factors that affect the information organization and representation. As results are considered that an approach that tries to place the user in the center of the concerns in the Information Organization should appeal to the accumulated experience in the calls studies of users.
