The traditional populations of the marajoara estuary with its cultural richness are still poorly studied. In them is possible to see expressions that have constitutive traits of their anthropological identity, as in its art, skipped for some generations as a source of knowledge and history, myth, spell, path of gender, achievement and cultural resistance. To describe and discuss these realities, this work focuses on memory of past and present of the phenomenon of Embroidered Wands, usual work of female artist-embroiderers on the island of Mosqueiro and Soure, in Marajo island. Positions of art critics, anthropologists and academics on these speeches are divided for a long time already, and this research aims to bring light to this debate, placing the object as an heritage of cultural tradition, legitimized in the artistic experiencing.
