The majority of Gallo-Roman reliefs were published in the early 1900s, and since that time there has been no major study undertaken solely on a peculiarly abundant and striking part of the corpus, namely the scenes of vending depicted on funerary monuments. Scholars have tended to concentrate their efforts on scenes of work in general, both in Gaul and in Italy, where another important series of work scenes is found, including vending scenes. Therefore, this thesis focuses on 61 Gallo-Roman reliefs depicting the sale or display of merchandise such as clothing, food, wine and specialty products. These transactions often take place in small, shop-like settings, consisting of a counter, and sometimes shelves or display racks The analysis of the iconography of the vending scenes is of central importance to our understanding of the various occupational roles of the merchants, who range from small scale shop-keepers to commercial wholesalers of products. As many of the reliefs are in relatively poor condition, the comparanda from the Italian series of vending scenes, epigraphic parallels, archaeological finds and literary sources are essential in dealing with problems of interpretation. One problem to be resolved is how closely the Gallo-Roman vending scenes follow the Italian models. Another problem concerns the visual and verbal evidence for the legal and social status of Gallo-Roman vendors. Where did these vendors fit into Gallo-Roman society? Additionally, what do the products displayed in these reliefs reveal about the economy of Roman Gaul? It is the intent of this thesis to demonstrate that the vendors wished to present themselves on their tombs in ways to show that they achieved prosperity and a relatively comfortable status in life through their endeavours in commerce and trade. The best evidence for the actual success of these vendors is given by the large, costly tombs upon which some of the vending scenes are carved. / Thesis / Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)

The recent and rapid advances in micro electronics technology has resulted in the continued and dramatic reduction in the cost and size of logic circuits used in computers and computer interfaced devices. This technology now makes it possible to purchase a sophisticated computer system and multiple terminal devices for less than $60,000. The subject of this Research Report is to show the feasibility of applying this computer system, including 32 phone line interfaced video display terminals and a time sharing software package, to vend computer generated games for profit.

Thesis (MPA.) -- University of Limpopo, 2017 / The concept street vending based on the literature review revealed that it is regarded as an informal sector industry that is dominated by women. This sector is largely operated by street vendors with low skill sets and minimal education. In Africa, street vending is noticeable amongst the people who are unemployed. The Polokwane Municipality Street Vending By-Laws allow every person an opportunity to become a street vendor. The purpose of research was to investigate if the implementation of the Polokwane Street Vending By-Laws was effective in promoting a healthy and safe environment in which vendors operate. Amongst other objectives, the researcher wanted to provide possible solutions to the challenges that may be faced by the Municipality in making the implementation of by-laws effective. Qualitative and quantitative approaches were used. The data collected from street vendors operating in Devenish Street and officials of Polokwane Local Economic Development and Tourism Unit was presented and analysed. This study concludes by conferring the recommendations, conclusions and final remarks which were cautiously deduced from analysis of findings and the whole study. This followed by proposal that reflected the importance of bench marking with growing and metro cities for best practises in connection with effective implementation of local municipality street vending by-laws.

This is a Bachelor Degree Project report based on the design of a plastic vending cup.The project is carried out in cooperation with the company Promens Lidköping,manufacturer of a wide range of plastic products as food packaging, trays, pots, cups andsheets for the food industry. A vending cup is a product used to contain hot beverages which come from vendingcoffee machines. It is a product daily used in many different environments as hospitals,offices, libraries and common places, etc. Consequently it is aimed at a varied public. The redesign was focused mainly on the aesthetics aspect attempting to transmit aninnovative touch that would change the concept of today’s simple vending cup in a waythat it attracts the customer’s attention. The so called Mistral Vending Cup is a plastic cup which is out of the ordinary currentvending cup by means of a new bright colour, orange, and also its innovative shape, inthis field, constituted basically from organic lines and curve surfaces unlike the today’svending cups. The Mistral Vending cup introduces a great change, a new era in thehistory of the vending cups due to its organic shapes never seen in the market.
