Carlos Eduardo Vasconcelos Nogueira 20 April 2006 (has links)
This paper is devoted to studying the relationships between memories and places in the city of Fortaleza in the 30âs. During such period the municipal administration promoted big changes in the physiognomy of the city. The progress, wished for in several reforms, motivated the writings of some intellectuals who were devoted to recalling the city which was disappearing among the ruins of its vestiges, such as: places, trees and names of streets. The writings of JoÃo Nogueira, published in papers and the book MemÃrias by Gustavo Barroso, were confronted with the positive vision of the reforms, presented by some journalists as well as with writings by other memoirists. Departing from such confrontation, it was possible to perceive the tensions related to time which were being designed in the urban space.
