Uma análise da aplicabilidade do Data Warehouse no comércio eletrônico, enfatizando o CRM analítico / An analysis of applicability of Data Warehouse in electronic commerce, with emphasis on the analytical CRM

Fabricia Vancim Frachone Neves 22 November 2001 (has links)
Portanto o objetivo do presente trabalho é analisar a aplicabilidade do Data Warehouse no comércio eletrônico, visando o CRM analítico. / Currently, one of the greatest challenges faced by companies that operate in the electronic commerce is to guarantee their customers\' fidelity. Due to this fact, these companies have been considering the employment of tools capable of integrating distributed data onto operational databases in order to transform information into a competitive and distinguishing asset. Thus, the applicability of Data Warehouse tools in Electronic Commerce, together with the strategy of Customer Relationship Management (CRM), appear as a key element for customer-oriented companies, since they are capable of supplying the ones responsible for strategic decisions with competitive and essential information . Hence, through Data Warehouse tools supported by the CRM strategy, all the \"clickstream\" carried out by the customers in electronic commerce, can be historically stored, making it possible, through further analyses, to identify potential customers, as well as keeping them with the company. The objective of the present research is to consider the applicability of Data Warehouse in Electronic Commerce, aiming at the analytical CRM. The research also shows companies that Data Warehouse, when combined with the CRM in a Web environment, offers alternative means for customer-related data collection, thus, providing the customization of products and services, reassuring clients\' loyalty to the company and, consequently, greater profits.

Samuel Zanferdini Oliva 08 June 2015 (has links)
Studies related to the enhancement on health management describe instances of success with solutions concerning the Data Warehouse (DW) implementation as a resource to facilitate and improve data quality for management on health public area. The Health Map consists of the geographical description of human resources, actions and services distribution of health offered by the Brazilian National Health System and by the private sector, taking into account the existent installed capacity, the investment, and the performance assessed from system\'s health indicators. The goal of this project is to develop a decision support toolset based on health indicators databases defined by the Health Map. This toolset consists of the planning and the Data Warehousing environrnent implementation for the integration of legacy databases, arising from documents generated by the Regional Health Care Networks and collected by the São Paulo State Health Department, hence providing for users a necessary suite of tools for complex ad-hoc queries generation with flexibility and celerity over the data contemplated by the Health Map. Development process steps are seven, namely: (1) Analysis of data defined by the Health Map and available by public sources; (2) Integrator Database modeling and implementation; (3) DW dimensional modeling; (4) Creation of the extraction, transformation and load process; (5) Metadata generation and analysis server configuration; (6) Analysis; (7) Tests. As a result, the Data Warehousing environment development process steps were completely fulfilled, as well as tests and evaluation steps along with the health managers.

Aplicação de práticas ágeis na construção de data warehouse evolutivo / Application of agile practices in the traditional method of data warehouse engineering

Guilherme Tozo de Carvalho 28 April 2009 (has links)
A data warehouse (DW) is a central database, subject-oriented, integrated, nonvolatile, and time-variant collection of data in support of management\'s decision making process and that summarize the data in an analytic architecture quite different from the relational one, used in transactional databases. Building a DW is a complex engineering project because it involves many technologies and many people, from different teams, in a huge corporative effort to build a central database with corporative data. The traditional engineering process to build a DW does not use agile concepts and, as its scope is quite big, it might takes a long time until the customer can use its features. Agile methods of software engineering are commonly used as an alternative to the traditional methods and they have some differentials that lead a lot of value to big projects, as the continuous attempt to develop short releases in short periods of time, or the belief that every system needs to be continuously adapted to the changes on its environment. This work applies agile practices in the traditional DW engineering method, so that the development can be done in short iterative cycles, making possible a fast and evolutive DW project, with frequent delivering of new functionalities. The continuous evolution of this complex analytical environment is supported by evolutive database concepts and also for agile methods foundations.

Product Layout Optimization for Autonomous Warehouses with Grouped Products

Nilsson, Max, Olsson, Hampus January 2020 (has links)
To utilize space better, warehouses stack their products on top of each other. This increases the risk of injury for workers when storing and retrieving the products. Some warehouses counteract this by using robots to retrieve products to a picking area where a human worker picks the products needed to fulfill an order. This means that it is important for the robots to be effective when retrieving products to reduce the time the worker spends waiting in the picking area. This thesis focuses on the grouping of products in the containers when they are stored in the warehouse. The robots will then retrieve one container at a time and if the grouping of products is done correctly this should decrease the number of retrievals required to fulfill an order. In order to make the decision on which products to group together, an application was developed that data mined previous orders that the warehouse had received in an attempt to extract information about the products. With the help of this information the application then suggests different product layouts that focus on different goals when they are created. The different layouts are then compared against each other in order to determine which layout technique produces the best results. This algorithm has been named the PLO-algorithm. The results showed that when a product is placed with the PLO-algorithm, the most important aspect to consider is the relations it has with the other products it is grouped with. The results also showed that data mining orders that are too old can have a negative impact on the result if not handled correctly. The results also showed that when constructing the warehouse you should try to avoid restrictions that affect which products can be placed together as much as possible since these restrictions can impact the effectiveness of the warehouse in a negative way. The thesis draws the conclusion that there is a clear gain in effectiveness for warehouses to have a planed layout for their products. It is recommended to data mine previous orders to extract relations between the products if possible since this piece of information showed the best results in this thesis. It is also in the warehouse best interest to avoid as many restrictions as possible that affect which products can be placed together since this can impact the results in a negative way. It is also beneficial to not include data that is too old in the data mining since this can impact the results in a negative way if not handled correctly.

Expanding warehouse operations as a fashion brand : a case study about the motivating factors and challenges

Landegren, Emma, Flognman, Elise January 2023 (has links)
Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) are currently achieving massive growth but the problems and challenges associated with them are less understood. A goal in supply chain management is to maintain a solid flow of goods from raw materials to manufacturers and distribution of the final product. In managing all of these moving parts, warehousing plays a vital and central role to streamlining the supply chain. Furthermore, expanding a firm’s business to one or more locations as trends in markets, and consumer demands are continuously changing has proven vital to succeed. Yet, there is under developed research in the are of geographical expansion as it pertains to warehouse operations as an SME. In understanding these challenges and motivations to expand, SMEs have a greater chance to succeed. This thesis uses a combination of the existing literature surrounding global warehouse expansion as well as a field study that was conducted to gain further insight into an SME that is currently undergoing a warehouse expansion in both Germany and the United States. The motives for expansion to these locations are explored through semi structured interviews of six employees involved in the warehouse project. There is great complexity in this case, where unfamiliar locations and market potential are unknown, making this sector within supply chain management of SMEs an important one to investigate.

On the problem of generating common predecessors

Lehner, Wolfgang, Hümmer, Wolfgang, Schlesinger, Lutz, Bauer, Andreas J. 10 January 2023 (has links)
Using common subexpressions to speed up a set of queries is a well known and long studied problem. However, due to the isolation requirement, operating a database in the classic transactional way does not offer many applications to exploit the benefits of simultaneously computing a set of queries. In the opposite, many applications can be identified in the context of data warehousing, e. g. optimizing the incremental maintenance process of multiple dependent materialized views or the generation of application specific data marts. In the paper we discuss the problem whether it is always advisable to generate the most complete common predecessor for a given set of queries or to restrict a predecessor to a subset of all possible base tables. As we will see, this question cannot be answered without having knowledge about the cardinality of queries after aggregation. However, if we can rely on this information, we can come up with an optimal predecessor for a common set of queries.
