Johansson, Anders, Wassbjer, Robin January 2016 (has links)
Microsoft released Windows 10 in the middle of 2015. Windows 10 is a series of operating systems with multiple versions adapted for many different fields of work. Windows 10 IoT Enterprise is one of the versions aimed at various types of embedded systems. During adaptation into certain environments, parts of the operating system may therefore be locked down or limited. For configuration of Windows 10, both old and new tools are available.  In this project, an examination of lockdown and adaptation possibilities, as well as configuration tools, focusing on Windows 10 IoT Enterprise is made. The tools used are Microsoft’s brand new Windows Imaging and Configuration Designer, but also their older Windows System Image Manager. Multiple configurations have been examined both with, and without the help of these tools. This includes user and application limitations, branding, and appearance. In addition to this, the creation of fully configured Windows images is superficially addressed. The project has consisted of several tests, mainly based on documentation from Microsoft. A majority of the examined possibilities and configurations have proven functional and quite easy to make use of. A working functionality has only been evaluated as such if it satisfies descriptions released by Microsoft themselves. This, as well as not breaking other parts of the system. In the end, the result mainly describes existing and working functionalities, not in what practical scenarios they fit. During configuration of major lockdown features, Windows ICD displays problems. Other problems has also been noted, among other things related to profile copying and generalization in Windows 10.

Solbil : Designundersökning av övervakningssystem och automatisk energiförbrukningsprognos för en solbil / Solar car : Design study of a monitoring system and automatic energy consumption forecasting for a solar car

Eriksson, Klas-Göran, Peterson, Andreas January 2017 (has links)
Jönköping University Solar Team participated in the 2015 edition of World Solar Challenge, which is held every other year in Australia. Teams from all around the world participates in the competition in which they construct a solar car and competes in a 3000 km long race from Darwin to Adelaide. A solar car is an electric car equipped with solar panels to give it a theoretical infinite mileage as long as the car have access to solar energy. Jönköping University came in 15th place in this race and would like to improve their competitiveness in the next race. Because it is a competition and the goal for every team is to use their car as efficiently as possible a system to log and monitor the battery and present the information to the team was needed. It would also be good to have some kind of energy consumption forecast that would be used to decide the speed the solar car should keep. A system that collect, stores and transmits the information from the solar car to an escort vehicle was developed and evaluated. Thus, the pursues of this studies were: Improve Jönköping University Solar Teams competitiveness by provide a decision support which in real time monitor and log the solar car battery level and energy consumption. Design Science Research was used as a method to realize this purpose, which gave the opportunity to develop the system as an artifact and use this to present the result. Three different experiments were constructed to determine the functionality of the wireless communication, how accurate the system was and how well the energy consumption could be predicted. In the results the artifact is described as a whole and together with the experiments it is found that the system will give Jönköping University Solar Team a higher competitiveness in the next race.

Evaluating the Necessity of Third-Party Antivirus Software

Baker, Erik January 2018 (has links)
Some may assume that it is essential to purchase and install antivirus software to protect the underlying layers of an IT infrastructure. However, nowadays the Windows 10 operating system is shipped with a built-in antivirus feature by default. With Microsoft being a large contender in the antivirus market it raises the question if it is necessary to use third-party antivirus software in a Windows 10 environment.   The aim of this research is to determine the necessity of third-party antivirus software by examining the detection capabilities and measuring the performance impact caused by third-party antivirus software, in comparison with the antivirus service that is integrated with the Windows 10 operating system. This was done by measuring the response time of certain user activities to determine how the user-experience is affected differently by using third-party antivirus software. In addition to the effect on performance, the documentation of the tested products was studied to determine if there is value in using non-integrated antivirus software.   The results of the performance benchmarks showed that overall there was a significant performance increase when using third-party antivirus. Additionally, the study showed that some third-party antivirus software offers more ways to detect malicious activities than Windows Defender Antivirus. These two facts put together suggests that using third-party antivirus software in a Windows 10 environment is necessary if there is a desire to increase the efficiency of performing certain user activities and if there is a desire to have more detection capabilities available.

Diaz, Alexander, Rivera, Steven, Vinces, Leonardo, Del Carpio, Christian 01 January 2021 (has links)
Production systems need to be monitored because failure to do so can cause a delay in production due to a lack of remote monitoring. There are solutions that provide this information, but they are limited, because they are owned and very expensive solutions. This paper proposes the development of a mobile application for the monitoring of S7-1200 programmable controller variables through Firebase. The goal is to use open-source-type tools to develop a real-time variable monitoring application of a programmable controller capable of hosting a Web server, and the sent data to the Firebase cloud, in order to avoid modifying the driver software and the data stored in memory. The implemented system of sending, handling and presenting variables is developed with tools of open source type, since they have as an advantage to have greater freedom in programming, unlike proprietary solutions or services. The tests were performed on the Siemens S7-1200 controller with a plastic injection molding machine. / Revisión por pares
