Groupquestionnaires with open questions was formed and three year one classes in uppersecondary school participated. In the process of making the questions a testquestionnaire was tested with one of the three classes as particpants. Information has also been collected throug an interview over the phone with the school´s welfare officer, and the school´s policy dokuments have been read. Social work in schools is mentioned in the study as preventive measures with youths when it comes to bullying, alcohol, drugs, sex and coexistance and tobacco. The concept youths include individuals born in 1989 and the year they was born was chosen in the study instead of a specific age to include youths who are not yet sixteen and to exclude the ones who are born earlier. The main questions are: What kind of experiences do yoths have of social work in school? What kind of need do youths have of social work in school? The result show the respondents experiences and needs of social work in school throug quotation and the answers. The result is also illustrated throug two diagrams which show the questionnaires frequence of answer. There is a need of social work in the uppersecondary school, and the need of it is not more then what the school today can offer. The respondents had the oppotunity to freely be able to express their opinion of social work in school, but the result shows that the youths who participated do not have the interest to give their opinion in the subject. This emerge throug answers with few words and a high frequence of “don´t know”-answers in many of the questions in the questionnaire. The analysis and discussion in this study opens up for new questions that can be used as further research. Begreppet ungdomar innefattar i studien individer födda 1989.

The influence of teacher professional identity on inquiry-based laboratory work in school chemistry

Tsakeni, Maria January 2015 (has links)
Amidst calls to incorporate inquiry meaningfully into the practice of laboratory work in secondary school chemistry and calls to investigate how teachers negotiate their professional identities under widespread reforms in education, this study sought to explore the interface of teacher professional identity and how teachers facilitate inquiry for learners during practical activities. Utilising a social constructivist lens and a qualitative case study approach, the study focused on three inquiry actions; namely, question posing, experiment procedure design and articulation of solutions through a teacher identity lens. Data capture comprised a mix of semi-structured interviews, focus group interviews, observations, field notes and a research journal. Data was analysed utilising the content analysis method. Findings were fourfold. First, teachers displayed four identity positions in Inquiry-based Laboratory work, which was interwoven with their professional training, personal school experiences, beliefs and attitudes and sense of agency. Second, teachers’ professional identity influenced how they engaged learners in question posing, experiment design procedure and giving solutions as inquiry actions. Third, teachers held strong beliefs in chemistry as a two-pronged subject and utilised laboratory work to consolidate and develop learner understanding of scientific concepts and theories. And fourth the manner in which teachers facilitated inquiry in the chemistry laboratory manifested as an interface between teacher professional identity and the principles of IBLW. / Thesis (PhD--University of Pretoria, 2015. / Science, Mathematics and Technology Education / Unrestricted

En skola för alla

Theorin, Isabella, Svantesson, Rebecka January 2020 (has links)
Today's schools, including its staff, are obligated to offer adjusted teaching for all students’ abilities and needs. The purpose of this study is to look into four elementary schools, considering their current environment for students with autistic spectrum disorder (ASD). It is also to investigate if there is a call for social workers to be present in elementary schools. The study was qualitative in its character and interviews with four teachers were performed. In this way, information on teachers’ thoughts and experiences of the schools’ offered support to students with ASD could be accessed. Based on a sociocultural perspective, Thomas J Scheff’s theory on social bonds and Paulo Freire’s concept of empowerment the interviews were then processed and analyzed. The results of the study indicated that elementary school teachers experience themselves as not having sufficient knowledge on how to support students with ASD.
