Este trabalho está estruturado a partir de três diferentes e concomitantes frentes de pesquisa (cujos suportes metodológicos são discutidos na Introdução) e traz uma abordagem diversificada acerca da Regência coral infantojuvenil. Parte-se de uma pesquisa social com 52 regentes que, em suas respostas ao questionário apresentado, identificam características, desafios e dificuldades de ordem social e técnica no desenvolvimento de seus grupos e nos oferecem dados sobre o atual contexto em que a atividade coral é realizada. Com a análise desses dados, foram eleitos três focos de pesquisa bibliográfica, referentes às principais questões colocadas pelos regentes: a própria Regência, a Técnica Vocal e a Educação Musical. Assim, foram levantados pontos de vista de variados autores referentes a esses itens,que tradicionalmente fazem parte da formação do regente e compõem o conjunto de saberes, competências e habilidades desse profissional. Segue-se uma discussão sobre elementos estruturais dos coros e sobre os aspectos de um planejamento em canto coral, visando facilitar e organizar as tarefas do regente, especialmente no que concerne aos procedimentos de ensaio e aos processos de criação e recriação na música coral. A pesquisa-ação foi realizada a partir doPCIU! (Projeto Coral Infantojuvenil da Universidade Federal de Mato Grosso do Sul), um grupo coral infantojuvenil criado especificamente para os fins desta pesquisa, que perpassa toda a discussão e sintetiza o todo, na medida em que se observa o desenvolvimento do coro e se analisam as atividades e escolhas técnicaspresentes nos ensaios. As dificuldades relatadas pelos colegas regentes corais participantes da pesquisa servem de pano de fundo permanente ao processo reflexivo e interagem com as práticas do PCIU!, em uma pesquisa coesa que une teoria e prática e se consolida em um trabalho artístico de performance musical. / This work is structured from three different and concomitant research fronts (whose methodological supports are discussed in the Introduction) and brings a diverse approach to the Children\'s and youth\'s choir conducting. It begins from a social survey with 52 conductors; in their responses to the questionnaire presented, they identify features, challenges and difficulties of social and technical order in the development of their groups and provide us data about the current context in which the choral activity is fulfilled. By analyzing these data, we elected three focuses of literature research, about the main issues raised by conductors: the Conducting itself, Vocal Technique and Music Education. Thus there were raised points of view of various authors regarding these items, which traditionally are part of the conductor\'s formation and consist the set of knowledge, skills and abilities of this professional. Then follows a discussion about structural elements and planning in choral singing, aiming to facilitate and organize the conductor\'s tasks, especially what regards to the processes of choral rehearsal and the processes of creation and recreation in choral music. The action research was accomplished from the PCIU! (Children and Youth Choir Project of the Federal University of Mato Grosso do Sul), a children\'s and youth group created specifically for the purposes of this research, which permeates the whole discussion and summarizes the whole, accordingly it observes the development of the choir, and it analyzes the activities and technical choices present in rehearsals. The difficulties reported by fellow conductors participants of the research serve as a permanent backdrop to the reflective process and interact with the PCIU! practices, into a cohesive research that combines theory and practice and is consolidated into an artistic work of musical performance.

The present thesis was developed in the post-graduate program in education at the Universidade Federal de Santa Maria in the line of research in Education and Arts. It deals with a case study of the school youth choir Mãe de Deus , from the city of Tupanciretã in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, where 6 members of the choir with varying amounts of time with the group were investigated. The research approach was qualitative and the data collection was carried out through semi-structured interviews and Field notes of the choirmaster. The general objective was to investigate the role of the choir in the development of conceptions and musical actions of the members of the choir. Authors such as Teixeira (2005), Wöhl (2006), Schmeling (2003), Oliveira (2003), Hentschke (1995), Bellochio (1995), Coll (1994), Phillips (1992), Penna (1990) and Figueiredo (1990) were studied in the review of literature. The results obtained demonstrate the importance of the choir activity for the members of the choir. Given the fact that the school Mãe de Deus does not offer music classes and that the choir was the only formal musical activity available, it was considered by participants to be an agent in their musical construction development. The choir acts as a bond, where the union of voices remits the widest social and musical experiences of its participants. The musical actions practiced by the singers outside of the choir further maintain their link to the knowledge gained in the choir. Daily musical experiences are continuously related to the knowledge gained in the group. Thus, it is possible to see the role of the choirmaster who should be a mediator between the singers and the music itself. Themes such as vocal technique, voice change, the repertory and discussions on group singing should be given special attention in the youth choir. In conclusion, it is clear that the choir is an activity that enhances musical and social development in its participants and a offers a space for solidarity among the participants, which encourages the desire to collectively do the best. / A presente dissertação foi desenvolvida no Programa de Pós-Graduação em Educação da Universidade Federal de Santa Maria na linha de Pesquisa em Educação e Artes. Trata-se de um estudo de caso sobre o coro juvenil Mãe de Deus, da cidade de Tupanciretã/RS, onde foram investigados seis coristas com tempos distintos de participação no grupo. A abordagem de pesquisa é qualitativa e o coleta de dados constitui-se de entrevista semi-estruturada e anotações de campo do pesquisador/regente. O objetivo geral centrou-se em investigar o papel do coro Mãe de Deus no desenvolvimento das concepções e ações musicais dos coristas. Fizeram parte do referencial teórico autores tais como: Teixeira (2005), Wöhl (2006), Schmeling (2003), Oliveira (2003), Hentschke (1995), Bellochio (1995), Coll (1994), Phillips (1992), Penna (1990) e Figueiredo (1990). Os resultados obtidos com a pesquisa apontam para a importância da atividade de canto coral para os cantores. Apoiando-se na realidade do Instituto Mãe de Deus de não possuir aulas de música no currículo e levando em conta que o coro Mãe de Deus representa a única atividade musical formalizada na escola, o mesmo foi destacado pelos participantes da pesquisa como um agente de construção e desenvolvimento musical. O coro atua como aglutinador, onde a união das vozes remete a vivências musicais e sociais mais amplas de seus participantes. As ações musicais praticadas pelos cantores fora da atividade coral mantém ligações com aprendizados dentro do coro. Vivências musicais diárias são constantemente relacionadas com os aprendizados vivenciados no grupo. Neste sentido, percebe-se o papel do regente, que deve promover uma mediação entre cantores e a música em si. Temas como a técnica vocal, a mudança de voz, o repertório e discussões sobre o cantar em conjunto, constituem-se em tópicos que devem ter uma atenção especial no coro juvenil. Finalizando, entende-se a atividade coral como potencializadora do desenvolvimento musical e social dos cantores, espaço que vivencia-se a solidariedade, a ajuda entre os participantes promovendo a vontade de coletivamente fazer o melhor.

The starting point was the course program of the discipline Choral Singing, in the Technical Course in Instrument at the Goias Federal Institute (IFG), class of 2010, as it related to the rest of the program. This investigation was based upon the evaluation of applied questionnaires, as well as upon the artistic results obtained. The investigation is to be guided by evaluation of questionnaires during the search. Part of this work is dedicated to report the author's experience as a conductor of the IFG, with emphasis on the occurrence of curriculum integration elements throughout. It was possible to verify that the curriculum integration, still occurs in a partial manner at the above mentioned institution. Therefore, the full potential of this integration has not been achieved as yet. / O presente estudo relata a experiência do autor enquanto regente do Coro do Instituto Federal de Educação, Ciência e Tecnologia de Goiás, na medida em que apresenta os conteúdos trabalhados na disciplina Canto Coral do Curso Técnico em Instrumento Musical, e ressalta a ocorrência de aspectos integradores disciplinares. Tomou-se como ponto de partida o programa da referida disciplina, no ano letivo de 2010, relacionando-a às demais disciplinas técnicas do curso. O estudo se norteou pela avaliação de questionários elaborados aplicados aos sujeitos, pelo resultado das avaliações curriculares da disciplina, bem como pela verificação do desenvolvimento musical da turma no período. Verificou-se que, embora presente, a integração disciplinar ainda ocorre de forma parcial na referida instituição, não tendo ainda alcançado a totalidade do potencial a ela reservado entre as disciplinas de música.
