Measurement of the shape of the boson rapidity distribution for ρρ̄→Z/γ*→e⁺e⁻+X events produced at √s = 1.96 TeV

Ding, Pengfei January 2014 (has links)
The measurement of the shape of the Z boson rapidity distribution for drell-yan events at a center-of-mass energy of 1.96 TeV is presented in this thesis. Data collected with the D0 detector during the whole RunII period of the Fermilab Tevatron proton-antiproton collider are used. By using these data with an integrated luminosity of up to L = 9.86~$fb^{-1}$, the uncertainties on the rapidity distribution in the forward region are significantly reduced compared with previous measurements. The measurement is made for events with electron-positron mass 66 < M(ee) < 111 GeV. Predictions of Next-to-Leading-Order(NLO) QCD theory with CTEQ and MSTW parton distribution functions (PDFs) are found to agree well with the data over the full rapidity range.

Relationship, trust and crisis communication on social media with millennials and generation Z

Golway, Danielle January 1900 (has links)
Master of Science / Department of Journalism and Mass Communications / Xiaochen Zhang / This study examined crisis communication on social media applying relationship management theory. There are few credibility checks on social media platforms, and some say publics no longer believe messages through this type of media (Domonoske, 2016; Ho, 2012). However, many people get news from social media platforms and trust the information they read (Turcotte, York, Irving, Scholl, & Pingree, 2015). Crisis theories suggest strong relationships are less affected by crisis situations, and relationships are heavily based on trust (Broom, Casey, & Ritchey, 1997; Coombs, 2000; Coombs & Holladay, 2006; Ledingham, 2003). Through a survey, this study found a statistically significant positive relationship between perceived organization-public relationship, trust and, credibility in crisis communication on social media within the Millennial and Generation Z groups. These generations are the most active on social media, and this study challenged the claim that they do not believe information online (Richards, 2017; Statista, 2016).

Transferové ceny - problém nebo výzva?

Kuberová, Lucie January 2008 (has links)
Sledovali jsme situaci v oblasti platné legislativy v této oblasti, zahraniční praxe a standardů a především pak dosavadních kontrol zaměřených na transferové ceny.

Pavlátová, Andrea January 2008 (has links)
Obsahem této diplomové práce je analýza a stanovení daňových výdajů v České republice a srovnání vybraných daňových výdajů v některých zemích OECD. Práce je členěna do pěti kapitol. První tvoří teoretický základ pro další analýzu. Zabývá se definicí daňových výdajů a dalších souvisejících pojmů. Druhá informuje o daňových výdajích ve vybraných zemích OECD. Třetí definuje metodiku měření příjmů a výdajů používanou v České republice. Čtvrtá je nosnou částí celé práce. Jsou zde stanovovány jednotlivé daňové výdaje a odhadnuta jejich výše. Závěrečná kapitola porovnává daňové výdaje vybraných daňových úlev v zemích OECD.

Ceny v účetnictví a ceny v daních z příjmů / Accounting valuation and prices in the Income Tax

Vopalecká, Anna January 2013 (has links)
The aim of the thesis is to describe the problems of accounting valuation and issues, connected with prices, which are used for income tax purposes. First there is the issue of accounting valuation with giving emphasis on valuation which is governed by Czech law, because the tax base from income for certain taxpayers is based on the profit or loss in accordance with Czech law. Because of the fact that the Czech methodology is progressively closer to International Financial Reporting Standards some differences will be mentioned between the Czech methodologies and IFRS. The next section explains in detail the prices which are used in accordance with the law on income taxes. In the practical section, some examples will be given to show the difference between the valuation for accounting purposes and income taxes. In conclusion, the analysis of financial statements of corporations reporting according to IFRS there is performed. The aim of this analysis is to find out which valuation method entities prefer, if International Financial Reporting Standards allow a choice between more types of methods.

Social and political concerns as addressed by three prominent Xhosa poets

Tshomela, Zibonele 06 December 2011 (has links)
M.A. / This study is a critical assessment and analysis of Xhosa poetry that addresses social and political concerns with particular reference to the poetry of Qangule (1970), Mtuze (1982, 1990) and Xozwa (1994 ). Chapter one introduces the study by presenting its aim, scope, method of research, theory, definition of concepts and significance of the study. Chapter 2 focuses on the theoretical framework of the study. It discusses the theory of Marxism, which is used as a basis of this study, by explaining the concept of Marxism, its historical background, assumptions, methodology and Marxism and poetry. Chapter 3 deals with social concerns that are addressed by Mtuze (1982 and 1990) and Xozwa (1994 ). These social concerns are divorce and alcohol usage. The discussion in this chapter focuses on how divorce affects members of the family concerned, especially children of divorced parents. It also looks at how alcohol is used in society. While the discussion in this chapter acknowledges moderate use of alcohol, it focuses more on how this substance may also be abused. It looks at how alcohol abuse affects individuals and society economically and how dangerous it is to the health and lives of people. Chapter 4 focuses on political concerns as addressed by Qangule (1970) and Mtuze (1982). It assesses and analyses poems that address the oppression of black people during the apartheid regime in South Africa. Concerns like citizenship and deprivation of freedom, labour conditions and language are discussed in this chapter. Chapter 5 is a concluding statement which gives a summary of the study, evaluation of Xhosa poetry with regard to addressing the concerns discussed in the study and recommendations regarding future research.

The social and economic history of Cannock and Rugeley, 1546-1597

Harrison, Christopher J. January 1974 (has links)
This is the history of the peasant community of Cannock Chase (Staffs. ) between 1546, when Sir William Paget was granted the Chase, and 1597 when his grandson recovered the lands. It shows that whilst the varying fortunes of the Paget family were closely reflected in the history of the area, most noticeably during the years of attainder when the Crown's lessee destroyed the oak forest, their influence was balanced by the actions and aspirations of many other individuals and groups. The peasant land market is described and the significance of the high incidence of sub-tenanting is considered; evidence on the real cost of copyhold land is presented. The importance of the Chase in the peasant economy, particularly as a place of common pasture for a large communal flock, of which two unique censuses survive, is discussed. The influence and significance of the manor court in both its civil and its criminal jurisdictions is considered, and the peasants' response to a number of social and economic problems is revealed through a detailed study of the court's records. A series of enclosure riots, and other disturbances on the Chase are recounted. Finally, an attempt is made to describe the peasants' attitudes to the Church and to the harsh realities of birth and death.
