Lee, Lung-hsuan 11 July 2007 (has links)
This thesis includes two topics. The first topic is a ZigBee transceiver used in 2.45 GHz band design. The second topic is a 2K/4K/8K multimode fast Fourier transformation ( FFT ) for DVB-H demodulators. The first topic includes simulations and hardware design. The chip is a physical layer design compliant with IEEE Std 802.15.4 standard, including a transmitter and a receiver for 2.45 GHz band. The measurement of the maximum power on silicon is about 731 £gW at 8 MHz. It is proved to be compliant with the low power consumption requirement specified by the standard. The second topic includes simulations and hardware design of an FFT for DVB-H demodulators. This processor is based on a pipeline architecture with radix-2, radix-22 and radix-23 computation element. We propose one sharing butterfly architecture to be used in the variable length FFT processor.

N2Z – A NFC to ZigBee® transceiver

Dhanekula, Anish 23 April 2013 (has links)
ZigBee home automation systems have been around for years. They include smart energy efficient wireless systems that connect devices via mesh networking. It has always been a problem to connect to these ZigBee nodes with existing technologies we use daily. The premise of this project is to provide easy access to these nodes via near field communication, which is a technology that is available on a majority of smart phones today. The report details the design and implementation of N2Z, a device that translates data provided by an Android app through a NFC interface to a ZigBee device and vice- versa. We first discuss the requirements and use cases for the device and application. Then the report goes on to discuss the base technologies behind N2Z, which include the Android platform, Near Field Communication (NFC) & the ZigBee platform. The report then goes on to discuss the design and implementation of the system. Consequently, we discuss the final results of the system with certain use cases and provide some empirical data that gives us insight into system operation. Next we discuss other existing technologies that exist in the market. Finally we conclude the report with a discussion on future work and thoughts on the future of ZigBee. / text

No. of bitstreams: 1 Dissertação - Rubens Rocha Valente Junior.pdf: 2382522 bytes, checksum: fee14372ed7f855ce0ff94e294d28cb4 (MD5) Previous issue date: 2013-06-20 / Não informada / The research related to smart environments have emphasized the technical aspects associated with the control of these devices and the interconnection network devices, home control systems involving issues relating to the management of electronic devices in the home, starting with the acquisition and processing of data from sensing, by modifying the state of the actuators. This process involves the study of the characteristics of these transducers, the development of protocols and mechanisms for data transmission, the creation of methods of analysis and information management, the creation of interfaces, etc. For this to be possible, it is necessary to provide means which provide interoperability between appliances and control applications. This paper proposes a system based gateway services for monitoring and control of home appliances in a network of wireless communication. The proposed gateway provides an abstraction layer between applications and the underlying network infrastructure and provides services specially designed to meet the needs of specific applications. The gateway provides a standard interface to access the functionality of the appliance, which provides a high degree of flexibility and interoperability system. The design of the interface provided by the gateway was inspired in the area of Web services and related technologies used to the area, as the style of software architecture REST, considered standard ubiquitous on the Web By hiding details of setting up and adapting the network of developers, gateway minimizes the efforts of developing applications for home automation.

An ECA-Based ZigBee Receiver

Zhang, Chen 26 March 2008 (has links)
Element CXI's Elemental Computing Array (ECA) delivers faster reconfiguration time and higher computational density than Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs) with similar computational power. It provides higher computational power than Digital Signal Processors (DSPs) with similar power consumption and price. It also utilizes a library-based graphical development environment promoting ease of use and fast development. In this thesis, the design and implementation of a ZigBee receiver on an Element CXI ECA-64 platform is presented. The ZigBee receiver is evaluated through simulations and implementation on an ECA device. During the design and implementation of the ZigBee receiver, some design experience and tips are concluded. The design methodology on the ECA is studied in detail to assure the implementation's correctness, since the methodology of the ECA is different from that of other platforms. / Master of Science

Design of a Control System for Multiple Autonomous Ground Vehicles to Achieve a Self Deployable Security Perimeter

Clemmensen, John Scott Jr. 27 August 2007 (has links)
Due to the limitations of GPS in areas where line of sight to the sky is obstructed the development of a GPS-free algorithm for relative formation control is an asset to collaborative vehicles. This paper presents a novel approach based on the Received Signal Strength Indication (RSSI) measurement between broadcast and receive nodes to calculate distance and using the data transfer capability to allow each vehicle to develop a table of relative positions. These relative positions are used to create a potential field that results in an absolute minimum at the vehicles desired position. All vehicles are numbered sequentially. The numbering defines the order in which they will broadcast their data, as well as their position along the perimeter. This thesis looks at two control methods for achieving a formation. The first is the circular motion method that puts perimeter nodes in an orbit around around the perimeter center. The second is a gradient descent method that calculates the gradient of the potential field. Both methods achieve a formation when all perimeter nodes are at their absolute minimums in the potential field. Tests were conducted to analyze RSSI measurements using the 802.15.4 protocol, and a mathematical simulation was conducted for each control algorithm. / Master of Science

Avaliação dos protocolos ZigBee e IEEE 802.11ah através de simulação computacional para aplicação no agronegócio / Evaluation of the ZigBee and IEEE 802.11ah protocols through computer simulation for application in agribusiness

Fazzanaro, Pablo Luis 09 June 2016 (has links)
The presence of information technology within the agribusiness has advanced and contributed to better results for the management and, consequently, to the landowner. One area of research that has advanced into the rural sector is the monitoring and collection of animal data in real time, allowing the landowner to manage his herd, without the need to move to the monitored site or the data collection point. However the technology of wireless sensor networks used for this purpose, has limitations and one of them is the signals range factor because, in order to make the data collection is necessary to install sensors and antennas in the pasture to reach the signals. Currently, wireless data transmission technologies in a network of sensors reach short distances, limiting the detection process and data collect to smaller pasture areas. This study aimed to find a long-distance transmission solution to reach areas of larger proportions pastures, and offer the landowner new monitoring resources. The methodology used to find such a solution was through simulations, using two transmission technologies: ZigBee and IEEE 802.11ah. To perform the simulations it was used the OMNet++ software, version 4.5 and an extension tool, called the Mixim. It was created two scenarios (environments) for each protocol, where has been defined: the coverage area of about 1,500 meters, network topology wireless static type, two nodes for communication (a coordinator and a receiver) and the characteristics of the environment. Through the results obtained by computer simulation with application of the metrics: distance, latency and data packets loss rate in the simulations, it was observed that the ZigBee protocol had the best performance in relation to the signal coverage distance and the transmitted data reliability.
