Território de gente e de música: Jovens no Centro cultural Cartola e o cotidiano de uma experiência / An area of people and music: youths at Cartola Cultural Center and the everyday life of na expirienceRosangela Brandão Nunes 30 March 2015 (has links)
This paper aims to compose a picture of the young peoples daily practices who attend the jazz workshops offered by Centro Cultural Cartola (CCC) - Top Hat Cultural Centre. The explored field was, strictly, the young adolescents, in an age cut from 14 to 21. They all should be enrolled in school - primary and secondary education - and live in a community, not necessarily the Mangueira community. The approaches also regarded the countless contributions of the jazz workshop teacher. Along the process, there was the falling in love and an appropriation of all the ones involved in the workshop: the administrative, pedagogical and teaching members, ensuring autonomy and differential in the social universe of the group, whose choices legitimize how the investment in culture can produce artists aware of texisting art beauty and its coming results. It is interesting to make evidente that the samba works as a temporal milestone for CCC, but the main motivation that was noticed there, was the in meeting mediated by dance, junction body/music, present in the lives of the attendees since their childhood, beyond the pleasure of belonging to a group , influenced by similar stories. Along with that, the teacher held the role of a veiled leadership, to mediate the relationships and to produce effects of group cohesion, with his ideas and incentive for the dance expression, in order to make way for new discoveries and reframing

Lighting the female fuse: group fusion, devoted actors, and female suicide bombersBonnin, Kayla 09 August 2019 (has links)
This thesis intends to revise and update devoted actor theory (DAT) by introducing a neglected dataset—female suicide bombers. DAT provides one such theoretical framework for understanding extremist group behavior and, to a lesser extent, suicidal bombing. DAT is largely satisfying: its claims and conclusions address relevant issues and provide compelling answers to critical questions. However, it is not without its analytical and empirical gaps. Crucially, DAT does not explicitly account for the narratives and characteristic motives of female suicide bombers—which often differ in logic, content, and tone from those of their male counterparts.
In addition, DAT assumes that people who are fused with extreme groups are willing to self-sacrifice for their group, but the theory does not account for how this fusion process transpires. Therefore, I propose two amendments to DAT that not only address theoretical issues, which arise partially from the lack of female terrorist accounts, but also creates a narrative that bridges the gap that would explain how an individual progresses from bonding to a group to making the decision to die for it. Accordingly, I also propose to theorize a psychosocial process that links the way in which individuals, specifically females, become fused to a group and edge closer to the most extreme of extremist decisions: to annihilate their bodies and selves, while at the same time annihilating or wreaking havoc upon the lives of others whom they have deemed enemies of themselves or their group.

Analyzing the Roles of Descriptions and Actions in Open SystemsHewitt, Carl, Jong, Peter de 01 April 1983 (has links)
This paper analyzes relationships between the roles of descriptions and actions in large scale, open ended, geographically distributed, concurrent systems. Rather than attempt to deal with the complexities and ambiguities of currently implemented descriptive languages, we concentrate our analysis on what can be expressed in the underlying frameworks such as the lambda calculus and first order logic. By this means we conclude that descriptions and actions complement one another: neither being sufficient unto itself. This paper provides a basis to begin the analysis of the very subtle relationships that hold between descriptions and actions in Open Systems.

: le cas des contrats de pôle et instruments de suivi financiers dans un hôpital public français / How to do management tools take part in the building of the organizational roles ? : the case of clinicals' division contracts and financial monitoring tools in a french public hospitalFlachere, Isabelle 21 September 2015 (has links)
In the last few years, many professional organizations have gone through decisive managerial changes. Professionals are asked to take on new responsibilities and use management tools. At the same time, this new demand infringes on the role of classical managers. This thesis examines how management tools, as the embodiment of a new economic and managerial logic, impacts the building of organizational roles. In order to deepen our understanding of this phenomenon, we study the implantation of management accounting tools in a large French public hospital. Hospitals are currently facing growing demands for efficiency, in terms of costs and quality of care. Following the financing (prospective payment system) and governing reforms, some doctors and head nurses become responsible for a pool of services (clinical divisions). They are made responsible through a contractual engagement with the hospital management, and are encouraged to manage their division using new financial monitoring tools. Using the actor-network theory, we see the emergence of a new social-organizational phenomenon as a movement of associations between objects and humans. We thus show the joined action of management tools and individuals in the building of roles: management tools open new possibilities of thinking and actions for individuals, while individuals put in practice these tools in multiple ways. Although management tools prescribe new managerial roles, role internalization may be achieved only when tools and individuals interact. From an empirical perspective, we underline the need to fine-tune both design and objectives of the tools, as well as clarifying the missions of clinical divisions’ heads and managers.

Spojené království a izraelsko-palestinský mírový proces / United Kingdom and the Israeli-Palestine Peace ProcessSemera, David January 2017 (has links)
The diploma thesis United Kingdom and the Israeli-Palestine peace process is focused on British foreign policy towards the situation in Israel/Palestine and the ongoing peace process between 1997 and 2001. It addresses the main assumptions for the approach of the Tony Blair's government and their fulfilling. It is based on the analysis of speeches and documents issued by the Labour Party or by the government of the United Kingdom, on which it at first defines the assumptions about the activities of the United Kingdom on the international level, which it understands as commitments towards British and the electorate. Further, it presents the major steps made towards the situation in Israel/Palestine, as well as the long-term motives of Tony Blair government's approach to this area, which can be seen in speeches and other materials. It then examines whether the policy towards the Israeli-Palestine peace process matched the outlined assumptions and expectations. Subsequently, it deals with the causes of the found differences and discusses the importance of this topic for the government of Tony Blair and its possibilities get more involved in these issues. In the last section it analyses the other possible foreign policy interests of the United Kingdom that influenced the approach towards...

Reinventing the Middle Kingdom : A case study of Chinese spread of authoritarianism through International OrganizationsAltgård, Anton January 2022 (has links)
The liberal theory of international relations primarily associates international cooperation with liberal democratic states, to the point that a theory of scholars Poast and Urpelainen claim that international cooperation with consolidated democracies through international organizations may boost the democratization of or at least prevent democratic backsliding in non-consolidated democracies. This paper investigates the possibility of decoupling these theories from democracies and democratizing by examining whether Chinese efforts within the framework of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank and the Belt and Road foreign policy project have a similar but reverse effect on its target states, prompting developments in authoritarian directions. Though the results of study are inconclusive on account of the relative youth of the studied IOs, they indicate a strong possibility that could do with further study.
