This is made by an analysis of the planning and drawing applied in their accomplishment and development. This analysis is consummated in a censure way, in the architectural and urban point of view, using the conditions and technical rules that are in the specific bibliography, in order to the models and known concepts, as well as the international experiences and theories. The structure of this research contain four chapters: the first and the second deal with the requirements to the airports planning and drawing, establishing the basis to the analysis and comprehension of the studied airports; the third and fourth chapters presents the objects of this research: The Guarulhos Airport an Viracopos Airport. The conclusions make evident that there is an urgent need of incorporating the new parameters to the improvement of the air traffic system in these airports. / O objetivo desta dissertação é caracterizar e avaliar o sistema de tráfego aéreo na Área Terminal São Paulo formado principalmente pelos aeroportos de Guarulhos e Viracopos. Isto é feito através de uma análise do planejamento e projeto aplicados na sua execução e desenvolvimento. Tal análise é realizada de maneira crítica, do ponto de vista arquitetônico e urbanístico, utilizando os condicionantes e os critérios técnicos constantes da bibliografia especializada, obedecendo aos padrões e conceitos consagrados, bem como teorias e experiências internacionais. A estrutura adotada para o trabalho abrange quatro capítulos: o primeiro e o segundo tratam dos requisitos para o planejamento e projeto de aeroportos, constituindo embasamento para a análise e compreensão dos aeroportos estudados; o terceiro e quarto capítulos apresentam os objetos de estudo desta dissertação: os aeroportos de Guarulhos e Viracopos. As conclusões mostram que há urgente necessidade de incorporar novos padrões no aperfeiçoamento do sistema de tráfego aéreo nestes aeroportos.
