Fotografia: Entre Fato e Farsa (URSS - Itália, 1928-1934) / -

Figueiredo, Clara de Freitas 06 April 2018 (has links)
The present research emerged from the perception of intersections in the language field between the Exhibition of Fascist Revolution (Rome, 1932-1934) and the Soviet Pavilion at the International Press Exhibition (Cologne, 1928). These intersections - strengthened and substantiated by concrete interactions between Fascist and Stalinist hierarchs - lead also to a research, based in selected visual material, about common problems for both regimes such as a catch-up industrialization, production expansion and the cult of the leader´s personality. In this sense, Antonio Gramsci\'s reflections on the notion of \"passive revolution\" and Walter Benjamin\'s on the \"aestheticization of politics\" emerged as fundamental critical-theoretical contributions. In short, the aim of this doctoral research was to analyse and reflect about the protagonism of photography as an instrument for symbolic reproduction and domination, both in the Fascist Italy and in the Stalinist URSS.

Aestheticization of the self in social networks: human contradictions and contemporary subjective production / Estetización del self en redes sociales: contradicciones humanas y producción subjetiva contemporánea / Estetização do self nas redes sociais: contradições humanas e produção subjetiva contemporânea

Marra e Rosa, Gabriel Artur, Rodrigues dos Santos, Benedito, Stengel, Márcia, Freitas, Marta Helena de 25 September 2017 (has links)
This paper analyzes the meanings attributed by social network users to the aestheticization of the self-phenomenon, product of the identities negotiation process among its participants. The objective is to join efforts to overcome the dichotomy established between disparate identity conceptions in the social network environment, and provide a concept that favors the operationalization of this category of studies. The study employed a qualitative methodology, conducting 16 semi-structured interviews with male and female Facebook users of diverse ages, ethnicities and socioeconomic levels; all residents in Brasilia-DF. A dialecticalsubjective production process among social network users was verified.

Moncada-Oseguera, Sarah Rachel 12 1900 (has links)
This research aims to bring to light the political work of Walter Benjamin, specifically his theory on fascism. We wish to examine how his theory on the aestheticization of politics contributes to political science as a major theory by, first, positioning his thinking within the writings of his times—between marxist and more spiritualist approaches—and, second, by identifying an explanatory scheme in his theory on fascism. We argue that by looking through the writings of Walter Benjamin, one can go further than a theory on aesthetics under fascist regimes to find a more complete theory on fascism as a regime based on aesthetics. The project focuses, on the scheme of disenchantment and reenchantment—loss of aura and false aura inserted by fascists—, and studies it under the lens of political thought to extract a political theory on fascism. The originality of this author lies not only in his approach to politics, but also in his theoretical positioning compared to his contemporaries: he holds neither a materialist nor a spiritualist discourse. He finds himself in a middle ground where great importance is given to the human experience, but also where the capitalist relations of production are heavily criticized. Finally, this research studies the concept of Erfahrung, heavily present in Benjamin’s work to bring clarity to its relation to the aura and its decline.

Podoby malířské exprese v současném českém umění v kontextu českého a zahraničního umění / Forms of Expression in Painting in Contemporary Czech Art Within a Czech and International Art Context

Ropková, Barbora January 2017 (has links)
This dissertation thesis deals with the work of three contemporary Czech artists - Josef Bolf, Jakub Špaňhel and Lubomír Typlt. The reason for choosing these three was the fact that all of the artists represent the same generation which entered the art scene in the late 1990s and their canvases can be equally described as expressive, although right at first glance there are noticeable differences in the intervention of the emotional and sense elements which participated in the creation process of the work of art, but also in its content. Contemporary expressive paintings are influenced by the development of art in the second half of the 20th century which is based on the continuous comparing of expressive subjectivity and its negation or intentional application and irony. That is why I decided to illustratively explore the movements which took place in terms of the foreign and Czech scene during the second half of the 20th century in the field of expressive painting. Because the Czech art arose in different conditions, I explored the changes of this phenomenon separately in these geographical areas, but at the same time I carried out a partial analysis of the works and comparisons with the work of the three chosen artists based on these findings. Subsequently, I analysed the work of the chosen...
