In the age of urbanisation and digitalisation it is easy to forget how important physical meetings and interactions are for our well-being. Open for anyone, the purpose of Our Urban Kitchen is to bring people together around the act of cooking and eating. The kitchen is to be situated in the future park Fållan in Slakthusområdet, Stockholm. A site that has been central for the meat production of the city for the past hundred years is now changing from an industrial area into a new urban neighbourhood. As meat production moves out of the city it inspires our food culture to change towards a more plant-based diet. Our Urban Kitchen aims to bring the heritage of cooking meat into a vegetable-based kitchen in the public space.  The kitchen is an assembly consisting of five different actors (products). In this project I have chosen to focus on the main actor - the smoker. The role of the smoker is to communicate the site’s narrative and pass on its history to future generations. In addition to the smoker, I have conceptualized four other actors and their roles in the kitchen. The fireplace (Beacon) that provides heat, a place to cook as well as activate the site; the seating furniture that provides a place to gather and somewhere to rest; the workbench that allows preparation of food; the water tap that provides water to drink and to cook with.

I denna design placeras skogsgläntan ut i stadsmiljö genom en naturridå och skapar en plats med ett rekreativt och rofyllt erbjudande. I likhet med en oas förmedlar gläntans  kontrasterande upplevelse i en effektivt utformad omgivning med ständig puls en sinnlig stund av vila, trygghet eller samtal med andra som stannat upp. Gestaltningen är inspirerad av ett antal fascinerande naturupplevelser som formmässigt landade i en alternativ lummighet med vinterskrud. Gestaltningens inspiration och utformningen med växtmaterial uppmuntrar tillsammans till gemenskap med det vackra i naturen och även till gemenskap med andra, i utomhusmiljö.  Både växtlighet och gemenskap har påvisade goda effekter för våra välmåenden, som utan att ofta prioriteras eller kalkyleras har ovärderlig betydelse för enskilda individer såväl som för ett större samhällsperspektiv. Kanske finns något att lära från naturens opåskyndeliga tillväxt som formar de mest fascinerande organiska och lugnande former när vi möter strikta och effektiva stadsrum. Stanna upp en stund och lägg märke till något som växer. I en speciell tid blir det särskilt viktigt att fylla sitt sinne med det som uppmuntrar, att se det vackra, att se andra såväl som att själv få bli sedd. Designförslaget är ett erbjudande om precis detta. / In this design, the forest glade is placed in an urban environment in the form of a nature drop scene which is creating a recreational and peaceful contribution. Like an oasis, the contrasting experience of the forest glade in an efficiently designed environment with a constant pulse conveys an eloquent moment of rest, comfort or conversation with others who have paused. The design is inspired by a number of fascinating nature experiences that introduced an alternative lush form with winter vesture. Together, the inspiration of the design and the plant formations encourage fellowship with the beautiful in nature and also fellowship with others, in an outdoor environment. Both vegetation and fellowship have beneficial effects on our well-being, which without often being prioritized or calculated has invaluable significance for individuals as well as for a larger societal perspective. Perhaps there is something to be learned from nature's unhastenable growth that shapes the most fascinating organic and calming forms when we encounter strict and efficient urban spaces. Stop for a moment and notice something growing. In an extraordinary time, it becomes especially important to fill the mind with what encourages, to see the beautiful, to see others as well as to be seen. This is what the design is proposing.

The aim with this work is to seek new potential in the use of textile materials in furniture design deriving from humanistic values. The aim with this work is also to investigate if textile have the ability to increase the objects value to its user and surroundings through the issue: Does the use of textile material in an unconventional way in furniture making have the ability to enrich its relation to room and user/owner? The ambition with this work is to apply a use of material in a way that in the future may bring desirable consequences in line with the outside world’s demand for good processes and products. The work begins with a theoretical background study that in part includes David Ericssons artistic development work “Friends of Wood” and Jessica Hemmings book “Warp & Weft – woven textiles in fashion, art and interiors”. The theoretical study also includes an interview with Johan Knutsson, professor in furniture culture where a historical backward-looking is being held on storage furniture and cabinets historical development and its relation to mankind and environment. Thereafter a practical investigation takes place in form of the development of a wardrobe as an object for the thoughts and ideas of the work. A special focus is being concentrated on the accomplishment of making a piece of furniture that through its meeting with both user and surrounding is salutary.  The conclusion of the thesis shows proof of newfound potential in textile material and new areas of cooperation between different professions in furniture making. The experience of the result and the interaction with the furniture is proof that textiles can create stronger bonds in furniture’s relationship to rooms and user/owner.

The block is a design research project exploring and mapping out the designconstructions ranging from the actual material to the shape it takes changing thePalestinian landscape. As a way to understand the physical boundaries, I attempt toshowcase some of the realities that the indigenous population lives under. Throughthis work, I navigate various layers of oppressions manifested in the Block. TheBlock is a barricade, a tunnel gate, a barbed wire, it is the overpopulatedconcentration of Palestinians completely surrounded by military and walls. Peopleliving under these conditions are forced to cope with and more importantly, standresilient against the day-to-day incursion on humanity, normality, and peace.

Denna studie fokuserar på kvinnors visuella representation inom musikindustrin med inriktning på rockbranschen. Studien ligger på 6847 ord och heter Kvinnors visuella representation inom rockbranschen. Syftet med undersökningen är att ta reda på hur kvinnor representeras visuellt inom rockbranschen. Genom åren har man kunnat se att kvinnors representation inom musikindustrin varit bristande, redan under 90-talet undersökte man detta område och detta har fortsatt vara ett relevant ämne (Groce & Cooper, 1990; O'Sullivan, 2018). Men även fast att man forskat inom vad bristen på representation innebär för kvinnor så är det färre som gått in på just den visuella representationen. I denna uppsats valde man att jobba med en kvantitativ innehållsanalys då man undersökt hur många kvinnliga rockartister som planeras spela på konserter under 2021-2022 av två av de tre största konsertarrangörerna i Sverige och detta för att kunna granska hur pass stor visuell representation kvinnliga artister har. Denna studie följdes upp av en kvalitativ innehållsanalys där man anaylserade evenemangsbilderna som har kvinnliga artister för att se hur den visuella representationen visualiserades. Därefter fick man resultatet att kvinnor är underrepresenterade visuellt utifrån den statistik man tog fram från den kvantitativa innehållsanalysen. Vidare kunde man tolka utifrån den kvalitativa innehållsanalysen att visualiseringen av kvinnliga artister inte fyllde sin funktion då man kunde se att de var i ett tydligt utanförskap och att man kunde tyda på att the male gaze hade en tydlig roll i bilderna.

2018 möttes Sveriges invånare – för första gången sedan tidigt 1960-tal – av en broschyr om kris och krig i Sverige. En oro började sprida sig, men klingade snabbt av i vardagens brus av information. Krisen, och eventuellt kriget, hotar fortfarande, men det är oklart ifall Sveriges invånare minns den krisinformation vi fått ta del av. Därför var syftet med denna studie att utforma textuell krisinformation som är lätt att minnas, och därmed underlätta medborgarnas hantering av hotande och okända situationer. Detta gestaltades i form av krisinformation i förberedandefasen om smittspridning. Studien utgick från teorier om kriser, krishantering och kriskommunikation. Den drog nytta av kunskaper kring människor och djurs handlingsförlamning under okända och hotande situationer. Den lyfte även teorier om berättarteknik och behovshierarkier. Såväl kvalitativa som kvantitativa metoder användes. En medarbetare på Myndigheten för samhällsskydd och beredskap intervjuades. En enkätundersökning med kvalitativa fritextsvar tog reda på mottagarnas behov och förväntningar, och kompletterades med en scenariobaserad utprovning av broschyren Om krisen eller kriget kommer. Ett flertal brukstextanalyser användes för att analysera samma broschyr. Utifrån teori och empiri skapades två alternativa texter, vilka testades i en enkätbaserad utprovning. Den ena texten var informativ, och den andra var en dramatisk text i andrahandsperspektiv, skriven utifrån den dramaturgiska kurvan. Utprovningsresultaten, i kombination med teori och empiri, ledde till följande slutsatser: Att ta krisinformationen närmare mottagaren känslomässigt, genom att exempelvis anspela på familjen, gör hoten mer realistiska. Dessa känslor, i kombination med konkreta scenarion med förslag på ageranden, får mottagaren att ta till sig och minnas informationen. Den nuvarande informativa krisinformationen har under rådande Covid-19-pandemi blivit enformig, och försvinner i bruset.

Sverige har en stigande befolkning som blir äldre, vilket ger en påfrestning av vårat hälsosystem1. Rädslan av att ramla i duschen hos äldre är stor och det gör att många väljer att sitta ner i duschen. Detta betyder inte att dom inte har kapaciteten att stå.Det är svårare att bibehålla kroppstemperaturen när man sitter ned pga att vattenspridningen över kroppen blir annorlunda. Det i kombination med sämre motorik och blodcirkulation gör att man snabbare blir kall.Att implementera ett hjälpmedel i ett tidigt stadie i livet kan förhindra fallolyckor, samt att det blir en mental förberedelse, att brukaren kan komma att behöva hjälp senare i livet.I detta projekt undersöks hur man kan underlätta samt göra det bekvämare för äldre att duscha. Detta resulterade i en flexibel duschpanel med rörliga munstycken som är lätta att positionera beroende på om man står eller sitter ned i duschen. Produkten har en diskret och enkel design för att passa in i de flesta badrum. / Sweden have a growing population that is getting older, which is putting a strain on our health system. the fear of falling in the bathroom when showering is the main reason why elderly people tend to sit down when taking a shower.This does not mean that they do not have the capacity to stand.It is more difficult to maintain body temperature when sitting down because the water distribution across the body is different. This, in combination with limited mobility skills and blood circulation, makes it quicker to get cold.Implementing an aid at an early stage in life can prevent fall accidents, as well as a preparation for needing help later in life.This project explores how we can facilitate and make it more comfortable for the elderly to shower. This resulted in a flexible shower panel with movable nozzles that are easy to position depending on whether you are standing or sitting in the shower. The product has a discreet and simple design to fit most bathrooms.

Covid-19 is an ongoing pandemic that has affected everyone all around the world. As a result of that, everyone has experienced a new normal. Now more than ever, people have begun to study and work from home and with that, ergonomics in the home has a new importance. The purpose of the study is to understand how people study or work from home and incorporate ergonomics in the home office. With the gathered information a design solution is presented with the main purpose to improve the ergonomics of the user. Through the use of several different theories and methods such as user centered design, ergonomics, cumulative trauma disorder, observation and prototyping a result is presented that brings light to how actually people work/studie from home. The Kitt that contains five ergonomic aids should improve and hopefully prevent future injuries. This product should also make it easier for the user to define the ergonomic problems in its own home and solve them.

The packaging market in the world just grows and grows. Today, it is almost impossible to think away the packaging in our product distribution, but it is important not only to see packaging as a burden on the environment. This is because packages can help reduce the amount of transport damaged goods and increases product durability. But of course we can develop the packages available on the market today for the better and it is in this process that a designer can play a key role.  In this thesis, I have tried to develop two primary packages on behalf of Innventia AB. These packages shall meet the requirements for product protection while saving money and the environment through increased volume efficiency and smaller amount of material. The purpose of this thesis is to explore the process of packaging development from an evolutionary and revolutionary perspective. These two perspectives are examined for the pros and cons to come up with a good and unique solution in my task and to see how much a package can be improved by the choice of design and how much a designer can save money and the environment by packaging development.  To reach this goal, I have examined the range of today's packaging market and tried to find the areas that need to be developed and even the ability to create something revolutionary, which is missing in the market today, but which the consumer or business is in need of. A study about packaging design, packaging audit, evolutionary and revolutionary packaging was done to clarify what it means and what needs and requirements to be fulfilled. These studies have provided the basis for my design process then I have worked on sketches and models.  The results of the thesis were two different packaging projects; an evolutionary packaging and a revolutionary packaging. I chose to focus on these two design proposals and to develop them in order to examine how a designer can work and affect sustainability.
