Qualitative research on leader speech communication content, leader behaviors and subordinates' trustChang, Heng-Yu 03 February 2005 (has links)
Nowadays the research area in human resource management does not focus on the individual work performance anymore, but emphasize on the communication and relations between employers and employees instead. To create the organizational communication climate including leadership communication skills and strategies becomes the most important issue (Tsai, 2000; Robertson, 2000; 2001; 2002). Communication can lead an organization to go for the common cause, and the management has to affirm organizational vision and mission, drive transformational change, issue a call to action, reinforce organizational capabilities, and create an environment where motivation can flourish (Baldoni, 2004). In Saving Big Blue, the ex-president Gerstner would regularly communicate with his subordinates via intranet and listen to their opinions, for he believes that he can learn the demands of employees due to the direct communication way. The management has to make people perceived of their importance in a company and clearly understand organizational goals and beliefs without communication barriers. Therefore the direct effect of leaders on subordinates is the daily communication (Solomon & Flores, 2002), and communication can build up mutual trust (Baldoni, 2002). Employees are tempted to reach organizational goals, and the leadership can manage to it; effective leader behaviors can increase the work motivation (Humphreys, 2004). After the interviews, the author develops six propositions as follows.
Proposition 1. To people who are motivated by positive words, individual
achievements, leadership and work lifestyle are more important to the pure money compensation.
Proposition 2. Negative words are always with emotions, and the communication
content with menace results in permanent or temporary work
efficiency?
Proposition 3. The relationship between employee readiness and leader behaviors.
Proposition 4. Further research on the trust basics between leaders and subordinates
based on patriarchy.
Proposition 5. The relationship between communication trustworthiness niches and
communication skills.
Proposition 6. Leader communication style is a way to determine the perceived
leadership pattern.

Previous research has traditionally identified employee perceptions of justice or equity, and trust with the organization as determinants¡]Motowidlo & Van Scotter, 1994; Organ & Konovsky, 1989¡^, but this conceptualization has been focused on employee¡¦s behaviors¡]Orr, Sackett, & Mercer, 1989; Podsakoff, Aheame, & Mackenzie 1997¡^. 2. Organizational justice holds the positive relationship toward Trust
3. Trust holds the positive relationship toward CCB
4. Trust holds the significant indirect effects between organizational justice and CCB

The effect of electronic word of mouth in the virtual community-------taking virtual book club as an exampleCheng, Szu-hung 10 February 2006 (has links)
Virtual communities have become more and more popular in the Internet world. Members of a virtual community can disseminate information rapidly to create word- of-mouth (WOM) effect in marketing. Therefore, in-depth studies of the increase use of word-of-mouth marketing in the electronic world become more important.
The object of this study is to use "the virtual book club¡¨, as the subject to investigate the factors that may affect member attitudes by the word-of-mouth. Four main factors were included in the research framework as independent variables, which are the knowledge of the message sender, knowledge of the receiver, quality of the message, and relationship strength between the sender and the receiver. Trust between the sender and the receiver is treated as a mediating factor. The dependent variable is the receiver¡¦s attitude.
A quasi-experimental design was conducted and the findings include the following:
1. The knowledge level of the send can significantly affect the trust of the receiver.
2. The strength of the relationship can significantly affect the trust.
3. The quality of the message content can significantly influence the receiver¡¦s attitude.

The Study of the Relationship Among the Strategic Alliance, Alliance Partners' Guanxi, Trust, Alliance Performance and Future CooperationHuang, Shu-chun 29 August 2006 (has links)
The purpose of this research is to discuss the Guanxi among the partners of strategic alliance, the influence on the degree of the trust among the strategic alliance partners caused by Guanxi, and the influences on the alliance performance and on the willing to cooperate in the future caused by the degree of the trust.
As the internationalization and liberalization developing, many industries aware of the limitation of their own resources. A company is no longer able to compete with others alone, so they try to forge the strategic alliances to get the important resources to achieve their strategic goals. On the other side, the operation of the strategic alliances is deeply influenced by the trust and the interactions among partners. This trust could be broken due to the major differences on the organization cultures and on the management style in different partners, or due to the bad communications. The alliance could be broken because of the lack of the trust.
The relationship between Guanxi and Chinese sociality is very closed. For Chinese enterprises, the development of the Guanxi can be the mechanism to overcome both the completion and the shortage of the resources. The managers in Chinese sociality are specially good at manipulate the Guanxi to construct the trust in an organization. They not only rely on the original Guanxi of the relatives and the acquaintances, but also expand the area of connections among people via the introduction of the intermediates. If both managers of two companies of strategic alliances have the interpersonal Guanxi, the degree of the trust between the strategic alliance partners will be higher.
This research not only builds a theoretical framework by making a complete survey, but also verifies this framework by collecting and analyzing 112 effective questionnaires according to the structural equation model, SEM. The results show that the differences of basic types of the Guanxi among the alliances will be affected by the degree of the closeness and by the degree of the trust (including benevolence trust and credibility trust, from family, acquaintances, to strangers, in the descending order). The past cooperative experience of the alliance partners and the common interpersonal relationship are also able to affect the degree of the trust. There are also positive influences on the alliance performance for the degree of the trust among alliances (including the degree of satisfaction on the cooperative relationship and the degree of completion of the goals). And this degree of the trust among the alliances and the alliance performance are of the positive influences on the willing for alliances to cooperate in the future.
Because the strategic alliance in essence is both competition and cooperation, the companies must carefully consult and discuss with each other when progressing the forge of the strategic alliances. Based on the Guanxi, the alliance partners should enhance the trust and the understanding between each other. If the alliances partners could be sufficiently trusted, it is believed that the alliance performance can be improved and the win-win can be fully achieved.

A Study on The Affecting Factors of IS Professionals¡¦ Knowledge-Sharing Behavior ¡X Based on The Social Exchange TheoryWang, Yi-Min 12 June 2001 (has links)
Knowledge has been considered as the important resource to the competitive advantage of an organization. Knowledge sharing is critical because intellectual assets, unlike physical assets, increase in value with use. Knowledge and intellect grow exponentially when shared.
However, Professionals¡¦ reluctance to exchange knowledge inhibits sharing. Knowledge always could not be allocated well. Therefore, this paper is based on an empirical investigation of knowledge-sharing from information system (IS) professionals. Through a social perspective, it explores the important affecting factors on Knowledge-sharing behavior. The main contribution of this study is to adopt a well-established social theory, i.e., Social Exchange Theory (Blau, 1964¡FThibaut &Kelley, 1959¡FHomans, 1958) to construct a knowledge-sharing research model, which provides some practical and academic suggestions for the future.

A Study of Trust in Virtual Group Development AnalyzerYu, Chia-ping 14 July 2002 (has links)
Recent advances in information technologies provide a unique opportunity for sharing knowledge free from constraints of time and place. One application area is Internet-based learning where members of virtual groups are separated by location, and are challenged by a collaborative project. In this research we investigate the developmental patterns of such groups, and address how trust may shape and be shaped by the virtual groups¡¦ development.
Twenty-five groups in a cyber-university participate in our study. Our findings suggested the development of virtual groups was characterized by three stages: dependency and flight, fight and pair, and work. In addition, virtual group members initially imported trust rather than developed trust. Calculus-based trust, knowledge-based trust and identification-based trust coexisted and co-evolved over time. Finally, there appeared to be a reciprocal relationship between trust and group development.
