Srovnání nástrojů pro animaci algoritmů / Comparison of algorithm animation tools

The diploma thesis focuses on software tools which enable algorithm animation. In theoretical section of the work are introduced different ways how to present algorithms. Then the field of algorithm animation is described; it's history, development and current state. In the last part of theoretical section are shown possibilities how to use algorithm animation in teaching. Practical section of the thesis focuses on comparison of selected software tools. Selected tools are evaluated based on several criteria. The applications are then compared by multi-criteria decision making methods. Main goal of this thesis is to compare the selected software tools. Partial goals are to introduce advantages of using such applications compared to writing the algorithm in text form.

It presents animation as a modern and accessible form of education which stimulates children's creativity, social and communication skills and their ability to teamwork. It describes the positive potential of animation in education as well as some problematic issues and their feasible solutions. The author builds on the best practise of Czech and foreign teachers and practitioners of the education of animation but also on her own experience in the field. The text is supplemented by a blog website that makes the experience accessible to teachers interested in the topic and to the general public. The topic of the thesis is work of Karel Zeman - the important Czechoslovakian film director of the second half of 20th century and his media image in the Czech media of that period. Karel Zeman is one of the leading figures of post-war cinematography, especially one of it's branch - animated film. Karel Zeman is famous for his feature films Journey to the Beginning of Time, The Fabulous World of Jules Verne and The Fabulous Baron Munchausen, in which he combined performed and animated parts. His work is so specific and so tied together with the director that after his death nobody was able to continue in it. The thesis describes in chronological way Karel Zeman's work, from the first short animated films over the most famous featured combined films to the featured animated fairy tales for children. For understanding of the whole context the thesis briefly describes beginning of animation in the world and in Czechoslovakia and also continuously touch important changes in Czechoslovakian cinematography, which directly affected Zeman's work (post-war situation, nationalization of cinematography). The aim of the theoretical part of this diploma thesis is to clarify the issue of creating worksheets as didactical aids in the intermediate form of teaching. The aim is also to partially introduce the history of book printing and the life and work of Michael Jindrich Rentz. The work is also devoted to the Rentz Museum itself as an inspirational resource for creating worksheets and teaching art education. The practical part of the diploma thesis tries to create functional and representative worksheets for pupils of middle and upper school age to the Rentz Museum of Baroque Printing at Kuksu. This part of the thesis contains the definition of worksheet objectives, pupils age specification, analysis of individual tasks, description of the format and appearance of worksheets. At the end of the thesis, reflection and evaluation of the resulting sheets will be made.

This thesis has the subtitle Conceptional cooperation between elementary schools and cultural institutions in Prague. It focuses not only on the theatrical field, but also on other types of institutions such as galleries, music ensembles and libraries in order to gain insight into the situation of programs for schools that contribute to the education of the youngest generation of visitors. It aims to map the situation of cultural education in Prague and to put it into the context of the Czech Republic and Europe. Further, the work examines motivation or vice versa barriers of the implementation of educational programs from the point of view of cultural institutions and schools respectively. This is done on the basis of background research, interviews and studies of the constitutional documents. The first part deals with the nuances of terminology related to the education of children in the field of arts and culture, and summarizes the conceptual documents, which work with the term cultural education. Work continues with the summary of the way-out of the current state of cultural education. There are described the most common types of programs for schools, the role of the lector in the institution and different possibilities for the implementation of such programs due to operating conditions. The second part is devoted to a comparison of outcomes from interviews with eight representatives of Prague's cultural institutions and five teachers from elementary schools. Finally the two examples of good practice from abroad are introduced as well as two examples of projects in Prague and their potential for future development.

This thesis mainly deals with the matters of transferring the experience with puppet theatre or theatre in general into the motion picture environment. Despite the fact that this is an actor's graduate work, it is trying to adopt all the main differences, and vice versa all the conformities between film and theatre from the author's and creator's point of view. This work is divided into three parts. The first part focuses on comparing these two media (theatre and film) and tries to determine the terminology comprehensible by both, the theatre and the film community. It discusses some of the possible variations of film animation, always in relation to certain one, which is central to this work, which is real-time performed anti-illusive puppetry. The second part describes the process of creating two specific events in the film directed by Tereza Volánková; authors own work, where the puppets are lead in this way. The third part is a mere outline of a possible principle reversal, where the author uses some film practices in the theatre environment.

Animovaná díla a edukace / Animated works and education

This postgraduate thesis deals with the relationship between animated works and education. Main importance is given to the prior historical trends of educational animated works and to the question if are the animated works suitable for educational purposes. The thesis is divided to four chapters. First chapter depicts the historical development of educational animated works and briefly maps this area of animation. Second chapter analyzes specific characteristics of animation and abilities of its means of expression for educational use. Third chapter is a brief introduction to the cognitive psychology which offers valuable knowledge about functions of human mind. The center of attention is focused on attributes of human memory and process of learning, which are somehow related to the usage of animation. Fourth chapter sort of expands the third chapter and bases its conclusions on the work of American psychologist Richard E. Mayer. The subject matter are more practical ways how to use animation to enhance effective learning.
