This study evaluated the effect of PRP associeted to bovine anorganic bone or bioglass on bone healing. From adult male dogs leid form bone cavities prepared in earl side of the mandible, which were divided into four groups, according to the fillig material, as follows: control, PRP, PRP/ Bio-Oss, PRP/Bio-Gran. The animals were sacrified after 120 days, and healing was complete only in the control cavities. Among the treat groups, the better results were found for PRP/Bio-Oss, followed by PRP/Bio-Gran and PRP. Those findings were confirmed by histometric analysis, which showed statistically significant difference in the amount of bone formation favorable to the control cavities. Thus, PRP, associetd or not with bovine anorganic bone or bioglass did not favorable affect bone healing.

Comparação entre técnica cirúrgica convencional e minimamente invasiva no tratamento regenerativo de lesões de bifurcação utilizando osso anorgânico bovino e matriz derivada do esmalte / Comparison between conventional and minimally invasive surgical technique on regenerative treatment of furcation defects using an enamel matrix protein derivative combined with anorganic bovine bone

Pignaton, Túlio Bonna 31 March 2014 (has links)
Aim: The aim of this randomized, controlled, clinical study was to compare a conventional surgical technique (CST) and minimally invasive surgical technique (MIST) in the regenerative treatment of mandibular furcation defects. Materials and Methods: Fifteen patients with bilateral mandibular class II and III furcation defects were selected, treated and randomly assigned to the test group (MIST), and contralateral furcation defects were assigned to the control group (CST). Both groups were treated with the combination of anorganic bovine bone (ABB) and enamel matrix proteins (EMD), in the same day. The primary outcomes were patient-based outcomes (PBOs) regarding pain, discomfort, edema, hematoma, root hypersensitivity and daily activities interference. These data were recorded using a Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) 7 days after surgery. Secondary outcomes were assessed by clinical parameters and digital subtraction radiography, at baseline and 6 months after surgeries. The clinical parameters considered were: pocket probing depth (PPD), vertical clinical attachment level (VCAL), horizontal clinical attachment level (HCAL), and gingival recession (GR). Digital subtraction radiography was used to analyse radiographic density changes that occurred in the furcation area following treatment. Results: Patient-centered parameters evidenced more pain and discomfort, increased edema, hematoma, hypersensitivity and root interference in daily activities for control group. However, there was no statistically significant difference between the test and control groups (p > 0,05). Nevertheless, statistical data suggest that there are tendencies of CST causing more pain (p = 0.679), discomfort (p = 0.679), hematoma (p = 0.567) and edema (p = 0.130). Class II furcation defects presented a gain in HCAL after 6 months of 2.10 ± 2.09 mm and 1.90 ± 1.90 mm for control and test groups, respectively. No statistical significant differences were reached for PPD, GR and VCAL after 6 months. Digital subtraction radiography analysis revealed an increase in radiographic density after 6 months. Conclusion: Considering PBOs and clinical parameters outcomes, minimally invasive surgical technique appears to offer a promising potential. Both surgical techniques provided equivalent clinical outcomes however MIST may provide greater comfort to our patients.

Osso autógeno associado a osso bovino inorgânico (GenOx Inorg®) para aumento do soalho do seio maxilar e instalação de implantes: análise comparativa do potencial osteogênico de culturas de células derivadas do sítio doador e do sítio de implantação / The use of autogenous bone combined with anorganic bovine bone graft (GenOx Inorg®) for maxillary sinus augmentation and implat placement: a comparative analysis on the osteogenic potential of cell cultures derived from the donor site and the implant site

Melo, Willian Morais de 12 July 2012 (has links)
Objectives: This study aimed to comparatively evaluate the in vitro osteogenic potential of cells obtained from the mandibular ramus (MR, autogenous bone donor site) and from the maxillary sinus bone grafted with a mixture of anorganic bovine bone (ABB) and MR prior to titanium implant placement (MS, grafted implant site). Material and methods: Cells were obtained from three patients subjected to maxillary sinus floor augmentation with a 1:1 mixture of ABB (GenOx Inorg®) and MR. At the time of the sinus lift procedure and after 8 months, prior to implant placement, bone fragments were taken from MR and MS, respectively, and subjected to trypsin-collagenase digestion for primary cell culturing. Subcultured cells were grown under osteogenic condition for up 21 days and assayed for proliferation/viability, osteoblast marker mRNA levels, alkaline phosphatase (ALP) activity and calcium content/Alizarin red staining. ALP activity was also determined in primary explant cultures exposed to GenOx Inorg® (1:1 with MR) for 7 days. Data were compared using the two-way ANOVA followed by the Tukey test; otherwise, the Mann-Whitney test was used. Results: MS cultures exhibited a significantly lower osteogenic potential compared with MR cultures, with a progressive increase in cell proliferation together with a downregulation of osteoblast markers, reduced ALP activity and calcium content. Exposure of MR-derived primary cultures to GenOx Inorg® inhibited ALP activity. Conclusion: These results suggest that the use of GenOx Inorg® in combination with MR fragments for maxillary sinus floor augmentation inhibits the osteoblast cell differentiation at the implant site in the longterm.

Knohl, Stefan 25 January 2016 (has links) (PDF)
