Accentuating social, cultural and religious the aspects in the art of Waldomiro de Deus. This study inquires (into) the religious and artistics significations. These artist s pictures leads to his life and emblem his existence form. This study has the Religion Science, specially the anthropology and sociology ones. Based theoretical interpretations by Clifford Geertz with emphasis in the Memories by some pictures as resource. There are three chapters: the First talks about symbolic systems. The second is about the history of life (oral and literacy) of Waldomiro de Deus; still, the third about the artist pictures interpretation. Present his picture work / O presente estudo objetiva interpretar a interface dos sistemas simbólicos Arte e Religião e seus sub-sistemas em interação cultural, salientando os aspectos sócio-cultural e religioso na obra artística de Waldomiro de Deus. Explora a busca de sentido religioso e artístico a partir dos quadros desse artista, cujo conjunto conduz sua vida e emblema sua forma de existir. Tem como eixo teórico as Ciências da Religião e, em especial, a Antropologia e a Sociologia. É Basicamente alicerçado na teoria interpretativa de Cliford Geertz, com enfoque metodológico na Memória, apresentando a visualidade como fonte de pesquisa. Utiliza-se da pesquisa de campo proposta pela Antropologia. É composto por três capítulos: o primeiro sobre os sistemas simbólicos; o segundo sobre a história de vida (oral e documental) de Waldomiro de Deus; e o terceiro, sobre a interpretação dos quadros feita pelo artista, apresentando imagens de suas obras pictóricas.
