The analysis of citizen perception of urban development policy¡V the example of Kaohsiung CityShyu, Lin 11 September 2001 (has links)
Due to the rapid transition of our society and the economic, the local governments have to keep extending the development and the construction. While they are proposing more plans and more clear perspective to their citizens, are they aware of or consider about some practical questions, such as if their scheduled goals suit popular need? If the direction will follow up people¡¦s demand? How their policy is acknowledged by the citizens? Or if everyone knows the effect and the potential developing of those policy being carried out?
This research is trying to understand how the difference between peoples¡¦ and governments¡¦ perception and viewpoients in the respects of the urban positioning, urban development policy. The citizens¡¦ multi-political attitude can be analyzed by the six elements: governmental belief, political equality, governmental satisfactory, political efficacy consciousness, public affair involvement and public affair participation. And the questions regarding to the urban positioning recognition is an unitary level. Apparently, The conclusion of this research shows that different general background of the citizens cause different multi-political attitude that influent which urban positioning recognition. Obviously, the levels of governmental belief, governmental satisfactory, political efficacy consciousness and public affair participation are positively related.
This research reveals to develop multi-political attitude will help positive growth for people to recognize the position of the city and affirmative attitude toward the government. Furthermore, this research proposes the suggestions that how to improve peoples¡¦ multi-political attitude and how to enhance the citizens¡¦ recognition of the city¡¦s position in order to lead the development and the position of Kaohsiung City be acknowledged by their citizens and to raise the consciousness and the level that the citizens in Kaohsiung City to participate in the public affairs.

The Effects of STS-Infusion Instruction in Science on Fifth Graders¡¦ Learning Attitude, Critical Thinking, and
Technological Creativity
Abstract
The main objectives of this study were to explore (a) the effects of STS-infusing instruction in science on learning attitude, critical thinking, and technological creativity; and (b) the relationships among learning attitude, critical thinking, and technological creativity.
An unequal group pretest-posttest design was employed in this study. Eight fifth-grade classes of a public elementary school in Taina were selected based on purposive sampling. The participants were divided into the experimental group (n = 79 ) and the control group (n = 78 ). The experimental group received a twelve¡Vweek STS-Infusion instruction in the subject of Science, while the control group received regular instruction. The employed instruments included The Test of Technological Creativity, Critical Thinking Test¡XLevel I, The Questionnaire of Learning Attitude on Science, and the Questionnaire of Teaching Feedback. The analysis methods included Descriptive Statistics, t-test, Multivariate Analysis of Variance, Univariate Analysis of Variance, Multivariate Analysis of Covariance, and Multiple Stepwise Regression.
The main findings in this study were: (a) the STS-Infusion Instruction had significant effects on upgrading the fifth graders¡¦ learning attitude toward Science; (b) the STS-Infusion Instruction did not have significant effects on improving the fifth graders¡¦ critical-thinking abilities; (c) the STS-Infusion Instruction had significant effects on improving the fifth graders¡¦ technological creativity; (d) students with different level of learning attitude toward Science did not perform differently on technological creativity; (e) students with different level of critical-thinking abilities did not perform differently on technological creativity; and (f) the STS instruction, critical-thinking abilities, and learning attitude toward Science could effectively predict the fifth graders¡¦ technological creativity.
Finally, some suggestions were proposed for educational authorities, teachers, and future researchers.

The Effect of the Cutter Attitude on the Surface RoughnessSung, Yi-Fang 30 July 2003 (has links)
The technology of multi-axis machining has been applied extensively to the manufacturing of dies, molds, and various aerospace components. For machining mechanical parts with complex, sculptured surfaces, the use of multi-axis machine tools is probably the only one solution for avoiding tool-part collision during machining. Since cutting force will be changed by cutter attitudes, the machined surface characteristic can also be affected by cutter attitudes.
In this thesis, the major concern is focused on investigating the effect of the cutter attitude on machined surface roughness. Based on the relationship between the cutter incline angle and the enveloped condition in cutting, the correlation of the mean chip thickness and the cutter incline angle is observed. To identify the relationship between the cutter attitude and the workpiece surface roughness, experimental verification is performed by milling aluminum alloy material. By fixing the cutting depths and the width of tool paths, different spindle rotational speeds and cutter incline angles are taken to machine the workpieces. And then, the machined surfaces are measured for their surface roughness. Form the experimental results, it shows that the surface roughness will reach a peak value at a special cutter incline angle. The tendency between the surface roughness and the incline angle agrees with that between the mean chip thickness and the cutter attitude approximately.

The Effect of Set Induction on student knowledge, attitude, and engagement levels of high school agricultural science studentsJohnston, Tiffany Sarah Lavern 14 January 2010 (has links)
The purpose of this study was to determine if applying set induction to the
beginning of a lesson would have an effect on student knowledge, attitude, and/or
engagement levels throughout the lesson. Researchers addressed specific objectives in
this report to determine if using a set induction at the beginning of a lesson will have a
significant effect on students? attained knowledge levels, to determine if using a set
induction at the beginning of a lesson will have a significant effect on students?
attitudinal perspectives towards the lesson, to determine if using a set induction at the
beginning of a lesson will have a significant effect on student?s engagement levels
throughout the lesson. To address these objectives, a quasi?experimental study using
four separate agricultural education classrooms was conducted. Descriptive and
comparative analyses were then performed on all participating groups.
The results of this study illustrate the following conclusions: (a) there is no
significant difference in student knowledge between the treatment and control groups; (b)
there is no significant difference in student attitude between the treatment and control groups; (c) the group that received the set induction was more engaged than the group
that did not.
These findings have implications to agricultural educators in designing lesson
plans that can better engage students from the start. The results are also significant to
researchers in this field in that they may choose to further their studies in this area of
focus. Additional collected data could be to be extremely useful to those studying the use
and effects of set inductions in classroom methodologies.

The Effect of Consumer Behavior and Product Characteristics on Hypermarket's Private LabelSung, Ling-chih 24 July 2009 (has links)
In recent years, there are more and more private label products in Taiwan¡¦s retailing channel. It is easy for consumer to purchase those products though supermarkets, hypermarkets, or convenience stores. Retailers have developed and sold private label products widely in the United State and Europe for past three decades, and high proportions of the consumers had such good impression for those products. Private label can create big profit for retailing channel especially in hypermarket in Taiwan, but the actual profit remains small for years. That¡¦s why we want to know what causes the result. In this article we hope to find some important facts and to provide suggestions for the future strategies.
Private label products can have different performance through different categories, and many articles find that private label in some specific categories bring more profits than others. In this article, we choose ten different products to understand how product characteristics affect consumer behavior. We use convenience sampling in Taipei and Kaohsiung. By means of the questionnaire survey, we try to learn more about the effect of consumer behavior and product characteristics on hypermarket's private label¡¦s attitude and purchasing behavior.
Both quality and price are key factors which can affect purchasing. The quality difference between national brands and private labels cause the lower purchasing intentions in private label. We also find that private label performs better in daily use products and stationery. It is shown that through different categories, the acceptance and attitude toward private label will be different. We suggest adding more factors of consumer behavior and product characteristics to understand the purchasing behavior and the attitude toward private label products in the future study.

Effect of Cooperative Learning on Junior High School Students¡¦ Achievement in Learning Biological ReproductionChen, Ya-ling 06 January 2010 (has links)
The purpose of this research was to investigate, with the strategy of cooperative learning and traditional narrative teaching, the learning achievement, scientific attitude, and the diversity of different class environment for the seventh graders¡¦ learning in biological reproduction of natural science. In addition, the progress of learning and teaching were studied followed up. In the quasi-experimental design, 27 subjects of the experimental group were taught by Student¡¦s Team Achievement Division (STAD) of cooperative learning, and 27 subjects of control group were by traditional narrative teaching. They were all seventh grade students in Kaohsiung County. The instruments consist of ¡§Biological Reproduction Learning Achievement Test,¡¨ ¡§Science Attitudes Scale,¡¨ ¡§What Is Happening in This Class? Questionnaire,¡¨and ¡§Cooperation Learning Questionnaire.¡¨ The data were analyzed by applying descriptive statistics and ANCOVA.
The results of the research were summarized as follows: STAD cooperative learning teaching method stimulated students to show more positive scientific attitudes and experienced more class environment encouragement. Moreover, it promoted the seventh graders¡¦ learning achievement in study the unit of reproduction and exhibited retentive effect. During the different stages of group discussion, students were in a hopeless tangle in the beginning, followed by a more cooperative manner gradually, and finally they were leading group learning. The processes of the sharing of the groups were embarrassing in the beginning and then they were gradually open-handed at the end .Objectively, students think they could complete the learning of biology with cooperative learning and subjectively, they also enjoyed this kind of learning atmosphere and hope the teacher could use the teaching strategy of cooperative teaching more often. On the other hand, the teacher was able to follow up the students¡¦ thought and progress to guide them in more details during the group discussion and group sharing. Also the teacher should listen and respect the students¡¦ opinion and will even though the teacher worried about the methodology didn¡¦t suit for the students in the beginning.

Comparative research between Sweden and Romania concerning the leaders’ attitude at meeting with their employeesBentlund, Alina January 2006 (has links)

Europe is taking on a new meaning to many people these days and is now referred to as the European Union. For those countries, which are not yet members, to join the European Union is a very important and defining decision. Romania is one of the “next to be” members. With Romania being the next inline to join the Union, large corporations and enterprises are turning to Romania for new opportunities. It might be interesting for Swedish or foreign companies to open a business or start investing in Romania. That step is a very important one because there is no specific literature, which can provide relevant information about the Romanian business market and management style. These potential investors or business executives have no idea about the project management procedures or the implementation of technical projects inside the Romanian economy.

To provide the answer to these questions more extensive and deeper studies will have to be done in the future. The purpose of this thesis is to become a reference in the future for those companies which are considering doing business in Romania. The goal of this research is to provide valuable and reliable answers concerning the attitude of Swedish and Romanian leaders in meetings with their employees. These attitudes build on the differences in culture and nationality. The leadership of companies in Romania and Sweden has very different meanings in those countries. In the beginning I will provide definitions to the terms that will use: attitude, culture, leadership and meeting. The respondents were chosen based on their previous leadership positions in the institution they used to work. This research will demonstrate the aspects that Swedish leaders have or do not have in common with their Romanian colleagues.
