Subject of this Master´s thesis is analysis and vocal characterization of female roles in the opera Don Giovanni, composed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. I decided to divide this subject into several principal parts. Initially I would like to overview the life and work of the author himself. The next part of this thesis examines the opera as whole; its history of origin, plot issues, characters, performance traditions and main differences between traditional interpretations. As next I would like to address female characters in Don Giovanni opera. Finally this paper presents a deep analysis of the three main female characters of the opera with emphasis on vocal characterization and interpretation of their famous representatives. Finally this paper describes general classification of voice types, discuss the overall problematics of tone and voice production and also evaluate the mechanics and functionality of vocal chords from the physiological point of view.

This thesis addresses the reconstruction of the burnt mansard roofs of the late Baroque period, to propose a method for the reconstruction of the roof structure. The important part is dedicated to finding design and construction joints procedure for compiling. Selected problem was solved by building technical survey of similar roof design and construction process was tested on model development. The proposed solution provides the ability to understand the processes in the construction of the roofs of the late Baroque. Due to the research carried out on several houses, was also found that mansard roof structure underwent a development mostly due to the overall height of the roof and simplifying construction. The main result is the project of the construction carpentry mansard roofs, which were carried out very precisely and the system design of the construction was very sophisticated and simple. Based on the data, it is possible to carry out reconstruction of the roof. The results of this study make it possible to understand how the construction of these types of roofs progressed in earlier times and what the level of craftsmanship was. This work deals with analysis and comparation of three baroque hymn-books by authors Jan Amos Komenský, Jiří Třanovský and J. J. Božan. Hymn-book by JAK, Tranoscia Citharu sanctorum and Slavíček rájský are analysed according to their authors? creed and period context and they are compared according to their content and arrangement of their songs.

Key words novella, honour, Baroque, woman, society Abstract The main subject of this thesis is the theme of honour. Unlike my previous study, The theme of honour in the Spanish theatre of the XVI and XVII centuries, this work focuses on the literary genre of the novella and it will be interested in honour of women. Woman's honour is one of the great themes, which played a part of literary output of every author at that time. The work will be based on particular literary works, as well as historical context. Because of this, the first part gives literary-theoretical and socio-historical context. This section has as its purpose to introduce the theory of the Spanish Renaissance and Baroque novella, as well as the social status of women in the society of the 17th century. The second part treats the honour of women in the literary context, and relies on selected texts of various significant authors. How the second part will show us, in spite of relative dogmatism and conservatism of Baroque society, every author in his texts offers a different vision and especially different solutions. The main objective of this thesis is capture and describe the multiplicity of attitudes to the universal theme of honour.

The objective of this thesis are the findings of the older school-age pupils´ relationships to the sacral architecture. The theoretical part contains the literary comparison of the available sources related to the gothic and baroque architecture. I dedicate to the psychological description of the pubescent and characterization of the emotional and social aspects, too. I elaborated the quantitative research which was engaged in pupils´ knowledge and understanding of the baroque and gothic architecture and monuments in their area in the practical part. The research was realized by means of the questionnaire inquiry among pupils of 6th and 9th grades of primary schools.

Main topic of this work is to analyze language and stylistic elements used in two sermons from baroque period dated 1709 and 1724. Both texts come from servites order library in Nove Hrady. In the first part, main traits of the baroque poetic art are thoroughly described with respect to preachership and most important baroque preachers. Either text is being compared from point of view of composition and stylistics, text structure as well as application of rhetorical elements and figurative language in particular composition parts is dealt with. Analysis of further language levels, especially with regard to phonetics, morfology and lexicology, is also included. No research in the field of syntax was made at this point. Principal aim of this work is to contribute to a deeper understanding of the usage of Czech language at the beginning of 18th century. It should influence the reader emotionally, be persuasive, form his way of thinking and help him to come up with new ideas.

The main intention of this dissertation The linguistic analysis of a baroque text is to present some from charakteristic signs of Czech language of 17th century. I have keeped at disposition a copy of the text Cvičení v dokonalosti a ctnostech křesťanských (The Exercising of Christian perfection and quality). Thist text of Alphons Rodericius was translated by the priest and linguist Jiří Konstanc and printed in 1664. In my work I get some informations about morphology and syntax of the baroque czech language and compare them with the present situation. There are many differences between baroque and present Czech language, for example the ending {--}ův in plural masculines or some forms of possessive adjectives. We can find many differences also by the conjunctions, e.g. anobrž, alebrž, an. In the syntax level we can see an effect of Latin or German. There are many complicated sentences, the verb stands often at the end of a sentence. We can find many other examples. At the end of this work I bring a small dictionary, where I make clear some words, which can make problems. This work doesn´t bring comprehensive informations, there are many other problems in this religious text.

The subject of this thesis is a continuation of the already begun educative prose from the second half of the 17th century. Barner's first translation of Knihy hospodářské (Agricultural Books) Kryštofa Fischera (1706) is used as a source of the analysis. The theoretical part describes features of Czech baroque as well as typical genres of the given epoch. Additionally the thesis gives some information about the author of the book, Kryštof Fischer, and about the translator, Jan Barner. The thesis briefly defines Knihy hospodářské. The practical part is focused on the explanation of lexical elements which can be described as terms. The lexical analysis is divided into three thematic fields: pond fish culture, brewery, wine culture. The meanings of the terms are explained in the context of the mentioned themes. The aim of this thesis is to evaluate the level of vocabulary of the language in educative prose and to obtain a list of used terminological units.

This diploma thesis deals with portraits of František Antonín Count Špork. The paper presents graphic and painted portraits (all of them - except one miniature - are found in collections in the Czech Republic), that were made mainly for the purpose of the Count's presentation. A part of the thesis is devoted to the life of Count, his hobbies and legal disputes, that are reflected in individual works of art ( heraldic motto "True and Justice", hunting order of Saint Hubert, spa and hospital Kuks, etc). The main emphasis is put on presentation of surviving portraits of Count Špork as well as newly found and yet unpublished paintings and graphics, their authorship, dating and iconographic analysis. This lets us meet different authors with their Fine Quality. Thus a diverse, but complex collection of Count Špork portraits is formed for the first time. A catalogue, an important part of the thesis, comes at the end to summarize all the previous data in a transparent way and to add some more information, concerning especially oil-paintings. The aim of the thesis was to make a constructional-historical research and dendrochronological dating of the roof frame (truss) of St. James´s church in Stará Ves near Bílovce (the district of Novy Jicin). It is the case of the roof frame structure of hammerbeam type which was made from fir timber. The result of the dendrochronological analysis has shown that the trees used for the construction of the roof of the nave were fell down between 1712 and 1713. The trees used for the construction of the roof over the chancel were also fell down between 1712 and 1713. The oak bell stool could not be reliably dendrochronologically dated. The results of the dendrochronological analysis correspond to the historical development of the church found out from the literary and historical sources
