Návrat baroka v hispanoamerickém románu 20. století - Asturias, Carpentier, Roa Bastos / The Return of the Baroque in Hispano-American Novel of the 20th Century - Asturias, Carpentier, Roa Bastos

Doležalová, Barbora January 2015 (has links)
The diploma thesis "The Return of the Baroque in Hispano-American Novel of the 20th Century - Asturias, Carpentier, Roa Bastos" examines Baroque motifs and principles in the modern 20th century Hispanic-American novel. It explains how these traits alter in contrast to the historical Baroque, how they are modified or what other functions they acquire. An attempt was made to critically rethink and re-evaluate the literary theories dealing with the reappearance of the Baroque in Hispanic America, as we consider their approach to be generalising and reductive. The interpretative method is based on Josef Vojvodík's Povrch, skrytost a ambivalence and namely how it addresses the manner in which the Baroque, Mannerism and avant-garde relate to one another. A characterisation of the American Baroque as such has been drafted and an attempt to capture the differences between the European Baroque has been made. The essayistic work of Alejo Carpentier is treated with an emphasis on the relationship of the (Neo)Baroque and magic realism. Carpentier wrongly attributes to the continent what he installs through his own optics without realising that such an approach might be itself described as being Baroque. The interpretative part provides a linguistic, thematic and motivic analysis of Baroque traits in a choice...

Tři (čtyři) generace sochařské rodiny Kitzingerů / Three (four) generations of sculpture family Kitzinger

Loub, Kryštof January 2021 (has links)
Kryštof Loub, Tři (čtyři) generace sochařské rodiny Kitzingerů (diplomová práce), ÚDU FF UK Abstract This MA thesis aims to investigate and verify the current resources and literature about the Kitzinger family of sculptors, who created art in Litoměřice, Milešov, Prague, and Osek for three (even four) generations. Following the first chapter, which aims to critically evaluate the existing research about the family, comes a chapter entirely devoted to archival sources which reference the Kitzinger family. Through these archival sources, including not only contracts for specific works of art and the like, but also registry entries and others, I intend to present the family in their wider socio-cultural context. The greater part of the work is in the chapter focused on the so-called Milešov sculpture workshop (sometime before 1672-1688), founded by Abrahám Kitzinger, of the first generation of sculptors. This text describes and examines individual sculpture commissions conntected to the Kitzingers in northern Bohemia. Two more detailed chapters then focus on the sculpture commissions of Abrahám Felix Kitzinger, representing the middle generation in Prague (1691-1695/6) and then Osek (1696- sometime after 1701). The work concludes with a chapter of transcriptions of the archival documents I worked with in...

Prostor barokní architektury v pojetí české kritiky ve 20. století / Baroque Architectural Space in the Conception of Czech Criticism in the 20th Century

Koryntová, Eliška January 2015 (has links)
(in English) This thesis is a summary of opinions coming from 20th century Czech art historians which wrote about baroque architectural space. Based on reading texts from them I have chosen three cardinal themes characterizing the research of baroque architectural space: tendencies to emancipate architectural space, emphasis on the time based experience of architectural space and interest in luminary qualities of architectural space. In the chapter about time based experience of architectural space I am dealing with the illusion of movement that creates baroque architectural space, with the parallel between baroque architecture and baroque musical compositions and with the principles of designing the so called "moving space" by using illusionary splines. I find a tendency to describe baroque architectural space in a poetical way by Czech art historians due to the process of perceiving architecture happening through the interaction of the human body arrangement. I am focused on philosophy of Martin Heidegger and Hans Georg Gadamer where the support of metaphoric description of baroque architectural space can be found. In the final part of this thesis I write about the symbolic qualities of sacral baroque architectural space. I consider the spatial relationship "above" and "down" as an interpretation...

Čeští translátoři při českém guberniu v Praze v 18. století / The Czech translators at the local government in Prague in 18th century

PSOTKOVÁ, Jana January 2014 (has links)
This M.A. thesis deals with the office of the Czech translator at the local government in Prague, which was established in 1749 as a part of the Repräsentation und Kammer. The first aim of our work is to describe and explain the agenda of this department, assess its activities within the contemporary context and justify its establishment. In doing so, we contribute to the historical research by describing the situation of the officials at the time of Maria Theresa and Joseph II, and furthermore we contribute also to the linguistical research by studying the role of Czech in the administration in 18th century. The introduction describes the situation of Czech language in the 18. century and analyzes the state of research. The further text is divided into three chapters. The first one shows the development of Bohemian local government in Prague where Czech translators were working. The most important part of the work is the second chapter, which expounds the history of the translator's office and provides biographies of individual translators. The third chapter presents the Apology of Czech written by the first known translator Matěj Rudolf Blažej which is interesting for us as an example of texts produced by the office in the 18th century and as a contribution to the Czech National Revival.

Náhrobní mříž v českých zemích v období raného novověku. Mříž a hrobový prostor 1550-1740 / Sepulchral Ironwork in Early Modern Bohemia. Ironwork and Sepulchral Environment between 1550-1740

Gandalovičová, Šárka January 2015 (has links)
The text deals with various types of ironwork from ca 1550-1740, which we can encounter in sepulchral spaces in Bohemia. The text includes notable examples of individual types of ironwork related to sepulchral monuments in Bohemia and even Central Europe, especially when the works were inspired by Bohemian examples. The main research subject matter of the dissertation is a typological group of ironwork that defined the space around a tombstone or mausoleum freely situated in a sacred environment, e.g. the most important cited work - the ironwork surrounding the Royal Mausoleum in Prague, or the ironwork surrounding the Cenotaph of Maxmilian I located in the Court Church of Innsbruck. Other types of ironwork related to sepulchral monuments are mentioned complementarily, such as ironwork closing off interior chapels, freely standing ironwork, and ironwork protecting sepulchral niches.
