Colour nameability and computer displaysGuest, Steven John January 1997 (has links)
Much research suggests that there exist universal colour names. Investigations involving paint and paper media have revealed co-incidence of especially salient names and their concomitant sensations, within and between cultures. These names have been called Basic Colour Terms (BCfs), and their prototypical sensations focal colours (or foci). The highest levelof colour name development within cultures includes eleven BCfs. A literature review revealed certain omissions in the colour naming work. Firstly was a lack of usage of CRT-baseddisplay of colours. This was considered an important omission given the implicit, but largely untested assumption that CRT and surface media may be equivalent. A second omission identified was a lack of detailed quantification of realistic naming behaviour. Two CRT-based experiments were then devised to quantify colour naming, one involving unconstrained naming of colours, one involving selection of which colours were exemplars of (thirteen) pre-generated colour names. These experiments revealed certain regularities in naming within a (perceptually uniform) colour space. Thus a naming space and its underlying structure was obtained. Naming space was found to be a composite of they way membership of (BCf) categories was expressed, and an underlying set of five fundamental colour sensations. Evidencewas then forthcoming that this structure might be modelable. The quantified data obtained was then used to investigate the search-efficacy of easy to name colours. Such easy to name palettes were generated, based on the data obtained, and compared with colorimetrically matched, and highly discriminable palettes. It was found that easy to name as a colour palette variable was meaningful, and capable of adjusting user performance, despite evidence that individuals may possess relatively stable, idiosyncratic colour vocabularies. That CRT work has generality was verified by comparison of foci obtained from a series of studies involving different media. Although some differences were evident, these followed clear patterns which were not inconsistent with universal colour naming. This thesis suggests that there exist complex aspects of colour naming behaviour which are nevertheless understandable, and largely predictable. Such theoretical data should allow for improvements in certain human-interactions, where tasks involve naming colours.

Gaminio savikainos apskaičiavimo informacinė sistema / The Information System Reduced the Cost Price of ProductOrudž, Alijev 20 September 2004 (has links)
This system is designed by package of CASE system entitled Pro Vision Workbench, which absolutely includes all Life Cycle of Information System. The creation life cycle of Information System is composed according to strategy from concept to program code is the necessity of Pro Vision Workbench package. The created objects of data in relation Data Base Management System (DBMS), for instance, Oracle, Visual Basic, Access and etc., in which the functions of IS can be done, are allowed to use by Pro Vision Workbench package. The sentences of SQL CREATE are interpreted to tables by DDL (data definition language), and any relational Data Base of user can read these tables. The basic source of generating windows prototypes of user link is the definable objects, its methods, attributes and relationship between objects in business objects model. Research, which was carried out of software, show the link of CASE system between Data Base Management System (DBMS), in this case, MS Access and the objective programming language of Visual Basic 6.0 accelerate and reduced the price of created process small and simple software.

Mokytojų požiūris į pagrindinės mokyklos kaitą / The Attitude of Teachers Towards the Changes in a Basic SchoolZaukevičiūtė, Jolita 08 June 2006 (has links)
The problem of the study is defined by the fact that there are many talks about the changes in Lithuanian educational system but there was no analysis of the attitude of teachers of the reorganized schools from this aspect. From the theoretical point of view this work will stimulate going deeper into the possibilities, ways and peculiarities of changes, and, in practice, it will help the persons who are independently analysing the problems of educational changes and seeking to improve practical educational work.
Aim of the work – to estimate the changes in the reorganized basic school and the attitude of teachers towards them.
155 educators, 146 of whom were teachers and 9 school executives working in basic schools, participated in the study.
The findings of the study have showed that educational changes are mostly stimulated by focussed vision and strategy of the school, and the advantages of today’s educational system comparing to the Soviet one are that teachers are allowed individualizing educational content. The most significant years for educational system were 1997 – 2002 when reform of schools network was performed and in Utena town it was determined by the decisions of educational policy. After the secondary schools were reorganized into basic the schoolchildren feel better in them but less motivated schoolchildren remain learning in 9-10 forms. After the network reform the teaching base had mostly improved in basic schools as well as assistance of psychologists... [to full text]

Making a way when there is no way: the experiences and challenges of gang affected young adult refugees in WinnipegFast, Matthew 28 August 2013 (has links)
This study explores the perceptions, and life experiences of formerly gang-involved young adult refugee men living in Winnipeg. In doing so, this study examines both the negative experiences and challenges of these young men that led to their involvement with gangs, and the positive and life changing events that provided the catalyst for these young men to leave their gangs. If positive support mechanisms are insufficient, and if their basic human needs cannot be satisfied, refugee young people become at-risk of involvement in antisocial behavior and criminal activity. In order to assist refugee young people in their successful transition into a foreign culture and society it is essential to understand how their perceptions and experiences inform their identity and behavior. This study contributes to this understanding, which will inform policy and future approaches by government and community-based organizations to assist them in their transition.

THE EFFICIENCY OF KINESITHERAPY IN ORDER TO REHABILITATE THE MOVEMENT, COORDINATION AND BALANCE
IN PRESENCE OF THE PROLONGED ISCHEMIC NEUROLOGICAL DEFICIENCY
Izolda Jurjoniene
Summary
Key words: basic/ functional treatment, balance, coordination, movement
The disorder of the brain blood circulation is a very important medical and social problem in Lithuania. Every year because of these diseases more than 2000 people become disabled ( V.Zulys, 1995). The brain circulation disorder is one of the most frequent and economically detrimental diseases. Kinesitherapy as one of the means of rehabilitation plays a very important and often an essential role. The training of movement is an urgent task of the theory and practice of kinesitherapy. The analysis of movement in neurophysiological aspect creates wider possibilities for patients’ testing and treatment. It can be maintained that in order to rehabilitate the disorders of the movement, coordination and balance of the patients in presence of the prolonged temporal ischemic brain stroke functional treatment is more efficient than basic one.
The aim of this study is to establish the efficiency of kinesitherapy in order to rehabilitate the movement, coordination and balance of the patients in presence of the prolonged temporal ischemic brain stroke.
The tasks to reach the aim of this study were: 1) to establish the efficiency of the basic and functional kinesitherapic treatment in order to rehabilitate the movement of the... [to full text]
