Question-learn-test-feedback pattern to test emerging software construction paradigms

Baudry, Benoit 10 December 2010 (has links) (PDF)
This habilitation introduces the question-learn-test-feedback pattern that resulted from a series of investigations in the domains of software testing and modular software construction. The contributions to these fields are of various natures, but are all fundamentally related through two major assumptions: software construction paradigms have to constantly evolve in order to deal with the increasingly complex requirements that software-intensive systems have to meet; a tester's perspective can support this evolution through the development of effective testing techniques and new empirical knowledge about these paradigms. Abstraction, modularity and separation of concerns have been advocated as key factors for rigorous software engineering for a long time. These principles have been incarnated by various software construction paradigms such as object-oriented programming and design, model-driven development and aspect-oriented modeling. These paradigms evolve in order to deal with the increasing number of heterogeneous requirements, the large number of variations and the need for adaptation that software-intensive systems have to integrate. The work presented here is about the integration of effective testing techniques in these paradigms and how this led us towards a more precise understanding of these paradigms. A major discovery in our work is that we could follow a systematic pattern when investigating these paradigms to integrate error detection capabilities. First, we have to question these paradigms about the new assumptions they introduce on software systems. When answering these questions we can can perform the following actions: learn through rigorous evaluation of hypotheses about these paradigms; test software systems developed in these new paradigms; provide feedback to the paradigms in the form of new construction techniques that improve testability. We capture these four facets for the investigation of software construction paradigms in the question-learn-test-feedback pattern (QLTF). This habilitation reports on investigations in three software construction techniques: object-oriented programming and design, aspect-oriented programming, model transformations. Each investigation is synthesized around the question-learn-test-feedback pattern.

Dynamismes et structures de la perception dans l'œuvre de Charles Ferdinand Ramuz / Dynamisms and structures of perception in the work of Charles Ferdinand Ramuz

Keresztes-Kila, Noemi 29 November 2013 (has links)
The aim of the present thesis is to resituate the work of the Swiss writer Charles Ferdinand Ramuz in the French context in which it was frequently badly received, namely in the contemporary age of its creation. In order to situate the questions and hypotheses, the thesis will provide a panorama of the different aspects of the work’s reception in question (misunderstandings, linguistic, aesthetic and narratological interpretations). This study aims to follow in the lines of the Critical Renewal which appeared in the sixties. It will study the strategies of expression and the narrative techniques that would allow a «language-image» and an aesthetics of the phenomenological-cinematographic perception. It will focus especially on Ramuz’ usage of “on” (we) as well as on the realization of the cinematographic effects. The detailed analysis of these constants in Ramuz’ writing make it possible not only to redefine the challenges of a detached and objective view and to rediscover the perceptive focus as if it was provided with conscience and cognition but also to raise a seemingly upsetting question: may it be possible that the writing of this Vaud writer already accomplishes what the Romanesque creation in association with the movement of the New Novel (Nouveau Roman) defines and theorises thirty years later ?

Döden som en politisk resurs : En semiotisk och historiskt kontextuell analys av Jacques-Louis Davids, Paul-Jacques-Aimé Baudrys och Jean-Joseph Weerts’ respektive gestaltningar av Marats död mellan åren 1793-1880 / Death as a political resource : A semiotic and historical contextual analysis of Jacques-Louis David’s, Paul-Jacques-Aimé Baudry’s, Jean-Joseph Weerts’ respective representations of Marat’s death between the years 1793-1880

Cujic, Bianka January 2023 (has links)
This essay examines whether it is possible to ascertain which ideologies and values prevailed in France at the time of the creation of Jacques-Louis David’s, Paul-Jacques-Aimé Baudry’s and Jean- Joseph Weerts’ respective oil paintings La Mort de Marat, Charlotte Corday and L’Assassinat de Marat. The analysis is based on an semiotic method in order to find out from historical and cultural contexts whether variations in the artworks’ depictions of the death of the French revolutionary Jean-Paul Marat convey different messages. By using mourning and suffering from a theoretical perspective, the essay discusses how the visualization of these emotional expressions has been used as a political resource to influence viewers. The conclusion of the analysis is that the way images depict suffering or the absence of suffering can be used to unnoticeably convey an ideological message which then becomes part of the collective memory.
