Brazil is home to the third most diverse avifauna of the world, with over 1.900 species, making it one of the most important places to promote conservation action. The Atlantic Forest contributes prominently to the diversity of Brazilian avifauna featuring over 1020 resident species and endemism rate of 18%. The Botanical Garden of João Pessoa-PB has great potential for implementing birdwatching activities for this is necessary prior knowledge of the bird species found in areas trails used by local guides. Given the above, the main objective of this work is contribute to formulation proposal que use a birdwatching with a view to conservation in the Botanical Garden Benjamin Maranhão. The collections of information had held from April 2014 to January 2015, in the early hours of the day, a time when individuals go out to feed. The collections were made per transect following the tracks already used by the Botanical Garden guides. For the observation of birds was used 7x40 binoculars with magnification and identification was achieved using field notes and bird identification guides. Various bird species were also found along the trails and seven in the open area of the Botanical Garden. Among the species found are the following, which are typical rainforest: Tyrannus melancholicus, Ramphocelus bresilius, Chloroceryle americana, Aramus guarauna, Euphonia chlorotica, Stelgidopteryx ruficollis, Dendroplex picus, Crotophaga ani, Tangara cayana e Troglodytes musculus. Species observed in the garden can help to flag and umbrella species in the execution of conservation projects with a focus on ecotourism as much as in non-formal education programs in partnership with schools of public networks and private schools. / Há muito tempo as aves vêm exercendo enorme fascínio sobre a humanidade e despertando sensações e ideias ligadas ao nascimento e morte, gosto pela música e liberdade. O Brasil abriga a terceira mais diversa avifauna do mundo, com mais de 1.900 espécies, o que o torna um dos mais importantes lugares para promoção de ações de conservação. A Mata Atlântica contribui destacadamente para a diversidade da avifauna brasileira apresentando mais de 1020 espécies residentes e taxa de endemismo de 18%. Visando à conservação e sensibilização ambiental, a observação de aves pode ser uma excelente alternativa de atividade de baixo impacto. O Jardim Botânico de João Pessoa-PB apresenta grande potencial para a execução de atividade de observação de aves, para tanto faz-se necessário o conhecimento prévio das espécies de aves encontradas nas áreas das trilhas usadas pelos guias locais. Diante do exposto, o principal objetivo deste trabalho é contribuir para formulação de uma proposta que utilize a observação de aves com vistas à conservação no Jardim Botânico Benjamim Maranhão. As coletas de informações foram realizadas de abril de 2014 a janeiro de 2015, nas primeiras horas do dia, horário em que os indivíduos costumam sair para se alimentar. As coletas foram realizadas por transecto seguindo as trilhas já utilizadas pelos guias do Jardim Botânico. Para a observação das aves foi utilizado binóculo com ampliação 7x40 e a identificação foi realizada com auxílio de anotações de campo e guias de identificação de aves. Foram encontradas diversas espécies de aves ao longo das sete trilhas e também na área aberta do Jardim Botânico. Entre as espécies encontradas estão as seguintes, que são típicas de Mata Atlântica: o suiriri (Tyrannus melancholicus), tiê-sangue (Ramphocelus bresilius), martim pescador pequeno (Chloroceryle americana), o carão (Aramus guarauna), o fim-fim (Euphonia chlorotica), a andorinha serradora (Stelgidopteryx ruficollis), o arapaçu-de-bico-branco (Dendroplex picus), o anu-preto (Crotophaga ani), a saíra-amarela (Tangara cayana) e o rouxinol (Troglodytes musculus). As espécies observadas no Jardim podem auxiliar como espécies bandeira e guarda-chuva na execução de projetos de conservação com 12 foco tanto no ecoturismo como em programas de educação não formal em parceria com escolas das redes pública e privada de ensino.

For thousands of years the migratory birds has travelled across the earth in the same directions and returns to the same places generation through generation. They navigate by the magnetic field of the earth, star constellations, polarized light and through a visual memory of the geological landmarks like the coastlines. After they have made their journey across open sea they need place for resting. Lista is the first outpost after the long distance over the North Sea. Lista Bird Observatory has been in operation since 1989. The bird observatory's premier task is to identify the existence and development of bird populations and to collect quantitative data on bird migration over time. The observatory is strategically located at the flyways for several migration birds. Ever since its establishment all observation data has been recorded and since 1990 the observatory also make standardized bird ringing. In Norway, this material constitutes unique time series for the presence of a large number of bird species. This project answers to the need of appropriate locations for the bird observatory. It creates conditions for a national and an international research and a platform for the Norwegian Ornithological Society. It also gives spaces for environmental education and information where the architecture emphasizes the landscape as well as the bird- and wildlife. Local residents and occasional visitors are given room for recreation and meeting places and the project connects to a Norwegian culture of experience tourism. It underlines the bird observatory's significance and creates a local and regional center for bird watching. The architecture creates a focus and an awareness of the surrounding landscape and alludes to a tradition of vistas but in the same time it offers the visitors to enter and explore the nature. / I tusentals år flyttfåglarna har rest över jorden i samma riktningar och återvänder till samma platser generation efter generation. De navigerar genom jordens magnetfält, stjärnbilder, polariserat ljus och genom ett visuellt minne av geografiska landmärken såsom kuststräckor och öar. Efter att de har gjort sin resa över öppet hav behöver de plats för vila. Lista är den första utposten efter den långa resan över Nordsjön. Lista fågelstation har varit verksam sedan 1989. Fågelstationens främsta uppgift är att kartlägga förekomsten och utvecklingen av fågelpopulationer samt att samla in kvantitativ data om flyttfåglar och deras rörelser över tid. Observatoriet är strategiskt beläget vid flyttsträckor för flertalet flyttfåglar. Ända sedan starten har alla observationsdata registrerats och sedan 1990 gör fågelstationen även standardiserade ringmärkning. I Norge utgör detta material unika tidsserier för förekomsten av ett stort antal fågelarter. Detta projekt svarar för behovet av ändamålsenliga lokaler för fågelstation. Det skapar förutsättningar för en nationell och internationell forskning och en plattform för Norsk Ornitologisk Förening. Det ger också utrymmen för miljöutbildning och miljöinformation där arkitekturen betonar landskapet samt fågel-och djurlivet. Lokala invånare och tillfälliga besökare ges rum för rekreation och mötesplatser och projektet ansluter till en norsk kultur av friluftsturism. Det understryker fågelstationens betydelse och skapar ett lokalt och regionalt centrum för fågelskådning. Arkitekturen skapar ett fokus och en medvetenhet om det omgivande landskapet och anspelar på en norsk tradition av vyer men erbjuder på samma gång besökarna att stiga ut i och uppleva naturen.
