The fabrication of LB films from this azopolymer was achieved only if CdSt molecular support is used. Spectroscopic characterization of films were performed by means of UV-Vis and infrared measurements. Photoinduced birefringence measurements of LB mixed films of azopolymer with CdSt were performed as function of time during the buildup of the birefringence and the decay after turning off the excitation light. Experimental results showed that the maximum birefringence achieved during the light excitation increased with the number of layers of the LB film and light intensity. Photoinduced birefringence dynamics was also investigated during the buildup and decay aiming to determine the time constants of bi-exponential functions given by the Sekkat model

Thin films of anionic (DPPG and CLP) and zwiterionic (DPPC and DOPC) phospholipids with different molecular architectures were fabricated using the layer-by-layer (LbL) and Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) techniques. The main goal of this work was to explore the Application of these distinct molecular architectures in the detection of high diluted solutions of methylene blue (MB), a phenothiazine derivative drug. The linear growth, layer by layer, of these films was verified and monitored by UV-Vis absorption spectroscopy. It was found by FTIR that electrostatic interactions among the phosholipids and the supporting layer of PAH (cationic electrolyte) are the main driving force allowing the growth of the LbL and LB films, which favors the growth of the cationic phospholipids. The morphology was analyzed through optical microscopy, AFM and SEM, revealing that the phospholipids are structured as vesicles in the LbL films and as monolayers in the LB films. Different thickness of LbL and as monolayers in the LB filma containing phospholipids were deposited onto Pt interdigitated electrodes forming sensingn units applied in the detection of MB using impedance spectroscopy. The results showed that the different molecular architectures of the LbL and LB films take to different eletrical responses and allow the MP detection in concentrations of nanomolar. The SERS technique was applied to obtain structural information of the system MP/phospholipids at the dilution levels reached via impedance spectroscopy at the dilution levels reached via impedance spectroscopy. Then, LB monolayers were deposited onto 6nm of Ag evaporated films with and Ag evaporated films with and Ag nanoparticles were dispersed within the LbL films. The presence of Ag forming nanoparticles in both cases played a key role in achieving the MB SERRS signal allowing obtaining the detection in high dilution levels, approaching...

Dechezelles, Jean-François 14 December 2009 (has links)
During this work, we were interested in the elaboration of colloidal photonic crystals with a controlled architecture to study their effect on the photoluminescence spectra of emitters. Our strategy was to incorporate the emitters within the silica particles composing the colloidal crystals in order to distribute them homogeneously in the samples. We present the synthesis of the mineral precursors and the elaboration of colloidal crystals whose thickness is controlled at the layer level thanks to the Langmuir-Blodgett technique. These structures are characterized by a band gap which affects the light propagation. Insertion of a monolayer of particles with a different size as a planar defect within a colloidal crystal leads to the formation of a pass band in the band gap. We thus studied the effect of the structure of crystals with or without planar defect(s) on the emission spectra of different emitters. We observed local inhibition and exaltation of the emission in the spectral region corresponding to the stop band and the pass band, respectively. We have also observed reversible modulations of the photoluminescence spectra of the emitters when these ones were incorporated in colloidal crystals whose optical properties can be tuned by an external stimulus.
