e VS: VITA Suprinity/VITA) à resina composta.
CAD/CAM (LU: 78%, VE: 61%, VS: 98%). O Vita Suprinity (734,31HV) exibiu a maior
dureza Vikers e o Lava Ultimate (137,34HV) a menor (p=0,0001).
Introduction: New CAD/CAM blocks of resin, hybrid and ceramic restorative materials have
been recently developed. However, the literature does not yet have a repair protocol for these
materials against a cohesive fracture of the restorative material. Purpose: To determine the
influence of surface treatment (diamond burs, abrasive jet Al2O3, COJET, and hydrofluoric
acid) and in situ aging on CAD/CAM shear bond strength (LU:Lava Ultimate / 3M, VE: Vita
Enamic / VITA and VS:VITA Suprinity / VITA) to the composite resin. Methodology: 390
blocks (6 x 5 x 2.5mm) were made, 130 of each restorative material. 300 samples were used
for the shear bond strength test, the other samples were used for extra analysis. Fifty samples
of each restorative material were embedded in total dentures in use, and after a period of 60
days (aging in situ), the 150 aged and 150 unripe samples were randomly divided (N = 30 / n
= 10) according to treatment carried out: 1. Diamond burs + Single Bond Universal (SUB); 2.
Diamond burs + silane + conventional adhesive; 3. Hydrofluoric acid 10% + silane +
conventional adhesive; 4. COJET + silane + conventional adhesive; 5. abrasive jet aluminum
oxide Al2O3 + silane + conventional adhesive. Then, Z350 (3M ESPE) composite resin
cylinders (: 2.37mm, height: 2mm) were built on the surface of the blocks. Subsequently,
the 300 specimens were then subjected to thermocycling (10,000 cycles, 50 / 550C) and then
to the shear test (50kgf, 0.5mm / min). After fracture, the failure analysis was performed in
stereomicroscope (20X). Additional samples of each restorative material were used for the
Vickers microhardness and Roughness (n = 10) analyzes for the two tests; analysis of fungal
cell viability (n = 10); scanning electron microscopy (SEM) analysis of the surface treatments
and EDS analysis (n = 10) for characterization of the same materials for the two tests. The
shear strength (MPa), cell viability (UFC / mL) and microhardness (HV) data were analyzed
statistically by ANOVA and Tukey's test (5%). The other tests were qualitative descriptive
analyzes. Results: The bond strength was affected by the in situ aging exposure for the LU
and VS materials (p = 0.0001), the highest bond strength for the diamond burs group + Single
Bond Universal (SUB) was observed in the LU (14.67MPa), for the VE the aged HF group
(17.10MPa) presented higher union strength, and the VS the HF group without aging
(14.27MPa) had higher union strength (p = 0.0001). The adhesive failure presented a higher
prevalence in all types of CAD/CAM block (LU: 78%, VE: 61%, VS: 98%). The Vita
Suprinity (734.31HV) exhibited the highest Vikers hardness and Lava Ultimate (137.34HV)
the lowest (p = 0.0001). Cell viability analysis showed no difference between fungal adhesion in the three materials (p = 0.9064). Regarding the analysis of the treated surfaces (SEM) and
roughness, it was observed that the blasting and diamond burs asperisation showed a greater
change in the surfaces of all the materials; the EDS analysis demonstrated that surface
treatments alter the surface chemical composition of the materials. Conclusion: In situ aging
changes the bond strength of LU and VS materials. The most effective surface treatment for
LU was diamond burs grinding + SBU, for VS and VS the conditioning with HF. The VS
presented greater Vickers hardness. The surface treatments promoted surface changes of
topography and roughness of all the materials tested, the largest roughness per material were
LU: COJET, VE: Al2O3 and VS: Diamond burs, besides altering the superficial chemical
composition in the materials.

EFEITO DE TRATAMENTOS TÉRMICOS NA RESISTÊNCIA FLEXURAL DE UMA VITROCERÂMICA REFORÇADA POR LEUCITA / EFFECT OF HEAT TREATMENTS ON FLEXURAL STRENGHT OF A LEUCITE REINFORCED GLASS CERAMICAurelio, Iana Lamadrid 06 June 2014 (has links)
Fundação de Amparo a Pesquisa no Estado do Rio Grande do Sul / The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of heat treatments on the flexural
strength, surface roughness and crystalline structure of a leucite reinforced glass
ceramic (IPS Empress CAD, Ivoclar Vivadent, Liechtenstein). A hundred fifty (150)
discs were machined by CEREC inLab MC XL (Sirona, Alemanha) and distributed
into five groups, n=30: C (control, no heat treatment), A-575 (annealed at 575°C
during 15 min, followed by slow cooling and furnace opening at 200°C), A-790
(annealed at 790°C during 15 min, followed by slow cooling and furnace opening at
200°C), G (glazed at 790°C during 1,5 min, followed by fast cooling - immediate
furnace opening) and GM (modified glaze, at 790°C during 1,5 min, followed by slow
cooling and furnace opening at 200°C). Biaxial flexural strength was determined by
the piston-on-three ball test (ISO 6872/2008). Weibull modulus (m) and characteristic
strength (σ0) were calculated from the results. The surface roughness (Ra and Rz)
was measured before and after the treatments. One specimen from each group was
used for X-ray diffraction. A-790 produced the highest values of fracture strength
(211.7 MPa). The values of σ0 obtained for the other tested regimens (A-575: 167.9
MPa, GM: 157.7 MPa and G: 153.7 MPa) were lower than those from the control
group (187.7 MPa). The value of m was statistically similar between the groups. All
heat treatments were able to reduce the mean roughness (Ra) of the specimens. The
mean amplitude (Rz), showed a significant reduction only for the groups submitted to
the annealing treatments (A-575 e A-790). The X-ray diffraction analysis revealed no
changes in the crystalline phase (tetragonal leucite) of the material after the different
heat treatments. Variations in the size of the leucite crystallites after thermal cycles
were not significant. Thus, high values of fracture strength and decreased surface
roughness for a leucite reinforced glass ceramic are achieved by annealing above
the glass transition (Tg=625 ± 20ºC) after machining. This regimen (A-790) was
capable to produce favorable structural reorganization of the material, without
modifying its original crystalline structure. Annealing bellow the glass transition (A-
575) and thermal cycle for glazing (G and GM) significantly reduced the strength of
the material.
A rugosidade superficial (Ra e Rz)
antes e após os tratamentos foi mensurada. Um espécime de cada grupo foi
utilizado para difração de raios-X. O regime A-790 produziu os maiores valores de
resistência à fratura (211,7 MPa). Os valores de σ0 promovidos pelos demais ciclos
testados (A-575: 167,9 MPa, GM: 157,7 MPa e G: 153,7 MPa) foram inferiores aos
do grupo controle (187,7 MPa).
As
glazeamento (G e GM) reduziram significativamente a resistência do material.

EFEITO DA USINAGEM, DO CICLO TÉRMICO DE GLAZEAMENTO E DO CONDICIONAMENTO ÁCIDO NA RESISTÊNCIA FLEXURAL DE UMA CERÂMICA VÍTREA / EFECT OF MACHINING, THERMAL CYCLE FOR GLAZING AND ACID ETCHING IN THE FLEXURAL STRENGTH OF A GLASS-CERAMICFraga, Sara 31 July 2013 (has links)
Fundação de Amparo a Pesquisa no Estado do Rio Grande do Sul / The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of hard machining, thermal cycle for
glazing and acid etching on the surface roughness and flexural strength of a leucite
glass-ceramic. Additionally, it was investigated whether the roughness after
machining would be influenced by the machining order and by the pair of burs
employed. Six pair of burs were used to produce 144 discs by automated machining,
which were divided into groups (n=24): 1) machining (M); 2) machining and heat
treatment (MH); 3) machining and acid etching (MA); 4) machining, heat treatment
and acid etching (MHA); 5) machining and polishing (MP); 6) machining, polishing
and acid etching (MPA). The roughness after each treatment was measured using a
contact profilometer. The discs were submitted to a piston-on-three ball flexure test
(ISO 6872/2008). Weibull analysis was used to compare the characteristic strength
(σ0) and Weibull modulus (m) of the groups. The effect of the treatments, machining
order and pair of burs on the surface roughness of the specimens was analyzed.
Machining reduced the σ0 when compared to polishing. The polishing protocol was
able to eliminate the defects introduced by machining, which was observed by means
of scanning electron microscopy. The heat treatment did not alter the roughness, but
reduced the σ0 and created amorphous material on the ceramic surface, as shown by
the x-ray diffraction. Acid etching increased roughness, without reduce σ0. The
Weibull modulus did not differ significantly among the groups, which means that all
the treatments resulted in similar defects distribution. Spearman s coefficient (rs)
indicated strong and significant correlation between machining order and roughness
(rsRa = -0,66; rsRz = -0,73). The roughness after machining differed significantly
according to the pair of burs employed (p<0,05). Thus, hard machining and thermal
cycle for glaze demonstrated a negative effect on the ceramic strength, as opposed
to acid etching, which does not appear to affect the flexural strength of the material.
Variability in the roughness data could be expected after machining, since the Ra
and Rz values seem to be influenced by the machining order and the pair of burs
employed.
condicionamento ácido (UTCA); 5) usinagem e polimento (UP); 6) usinagem,
estudado.
