Hyper-Kloosterman Sums in Supercharacter Theories

Bulkow, Madeleine C 01 January 2014 (has links)
In this thesis, we briefly review facts of representation and character theory in order to define supercharacter theories, which give a generalization of the characters on a given group. Supercharacter theories for the groups (Z/nZ)^2 and (Z/nZ)^m are constructed which contain respectively the Kloosterman sums and the Hyper-Kloosterman sums, their higher- dimensional analogue. The graphical properties of Hyper-Kloosterman sums are examined, and a conjecture made regarding a hypocycloid bound for the degree 2 Hyper-Kloosterman sums. Additionally, the orthogonality relations from a supercharacter table producing Hyper-Kloosterman sums are used to give a proof of Mordell’s bound, a previously known bound of Hyper-Kloosterman sums.

Bridging Beijing Opera and Hip Hop A Style Fusion Experiment in Character Design

Li, Man 03 October 2013 (has links)
The concept of style fusion for visual storytelling is introduced and applied in this research. Style fusion is the process of identifying two distinct styles as sources, which are from different artists or culture backgrounds, and applying features and visual symbols from both to develop a new style. As a proof of concept, the source performance styles selected for fusion are traditional Chinese Beijing opera and hip hop. A set of guidelines for this style fusion are developed after an analysis of the visual symbols of each source style. A character and an environment design fusion are done based on these guidelines. Finally, the style fusion is visualized using 3D models.

Mullins, Anthony January 2004 (has links)
Summary of exegesis A review and critique of some of the most popular screenwriting concepts as well as a proposal for a screenplay model that seeks to conceptually synthesise character with structure. Summary of Screenplay When Andrew's infamous punk band is forced to earn extra money playing part-time as a children's act they unexpectedly discover a potentially lucrative market for their music. Unfortunately, playing to screaming three year olds is not the rock and roll lifestyle Andrew was hoping for as he approaches his thirtieth birthday. Tensions within the band grow and the old friends are forced to decide not only the future of their music, but also rest of their lives.
